it looks to me that an arrow created in Illustrator CS5 and exported in a svg 1.1 file is later recognized as a stroke+triangle (two disconnected objects). It just want to make sure that I did not miss anything. The option "preserve Illustrator editing capabilities" is not checked since I want to open the svg file in Inkscape.

Creation method of the arrow added newly by CS5. It is two that I do not understand.
How should AIPatternHandle of an arrow be acquired? I found AIBeautifulStrokesSuite::SetArrowheadOptions. However, there is no telling where beginSymbol and endSymbol should be acquired from.
Another is the creation method with an arrow of PathArt. I tried AIBeautifulStrokesSuite::GenerateArt. However, the divided arrow has been created in this API.

I have my artboard set to 700 px x 700 px. When I export as PNG the file is 2917 px x 2917 px. Why isn't it the size I set?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use the Live Paint option and the Live Paint bucket often. It is really convenient to change the swatch I am using by using the left-right arrow keys to change my swatch chosen in the Swatch Palette. But in CS6, if I am doing so, and the next swatch chosen is a percentage tint of another color (for example, I have a swatch Blue, and a swatch Blue 85%, which is the Blue Swatch tinited to 85% in the color palette and then made into a saved swatch), the "select" box around the swatch disappears, and I can no longer change the swatch choice without re-clicking on it.
I can change easily between swatches that are not percentages of the original, with no problem. CS5 and all earlier versions that had this feature had no problem whatsoever.
How do I change my cursor from hand to arrow, it want let me select anything for editing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working in a CMYK workspace on a vector graphic with multiple shapes. The above photo is a portion of the graphic as it appears in Illustrator. There are only three color swatches being used.
When I export the file to a PNG, this is what happens:
The two shapes that make the creases of the hand come out a dull color that looks as though the opacity was lowered. I'm using the exact same color swatch for these two shapes as I am for the other blue areas seen in the photo. I've even tried to retrace the two shapes entirely, but I had the same result. My guess is that it has something to do with the yellow area, but I don't understand why it would be having trouble when the yellow shape in the bottom-left corner functions normally when a blue shape is placed in front of it.
I was trying to export a dwg file from Illustrator CS5 in order to edit the drawing in AutoCAD and keep the layer structure. Unfortunatly it results in a bunch of mistakes... some layers are not exported, some layers appear in AutoCAD as blocks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on CS6, OSX, I exported a logo to jpeg form Illustrator, when I open it on the default image preview app and try to copy (cmd+V) it won't let me, the copy option under edit isn't gereyed out but when I use it or press cmd+v a sound tells me the action can't be completed and it obviously doesn't copy to th clipboard, When saving it from the "save for web" option it works properly and I can copy and paste without problems, all of this also happens if I do it in Photoshop, this has never happened to me until now.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm making large prints (40x60) from Illustrator files, and the print plugin requires Photoshop. I am converting the AI file's Document Color Mode to RGB, then exporting to PSD as high-resolution 300ppi, using artboards.
When I export the AI files to PSD and view them in PS, the photographic elements appear pixelated at 100% whereas the text & graphics are smooth and high-res. I've checked the linked photographic files, and they are not pixelated. So what I've had to do is export editable PSDs from AI using the "Write Layers" option, open the files in PS, and then re-place the photographic elements so that they are no longer pixelated.
FYI, Anti-Aliasing is set to Art Optimized (Supersampling). The AI and PS files are both sized to 40x60, and the PSD is opening as 300ppi.
When i do clipping mask in illustrator CS5 and exported to WMF, it does not comes like vector image. The clipping mask area becomes blurred when exported to WMF.

It's really annoying because I end up with a bunch of extra files and only need the single exported version that I overwrite when making changes to the AI file. It's also annoying when I have an exported file linked in a Premiere or Indesign file. I was last using CS3 wich didn't have this 'feature.'

I'm combining the multiple paths with arrows to make the 3D effect (which is on all of them obviously) flow as one instead of on top of eachother. When I use the compound path command it reverses all my arrows and I have no way of changing them back without releasing the compound path (which puts them back to their original state of being on top of eachother)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have something going on when I export from Illustrator as a PSD using the artboard. It ends up with a line of transparency around the edges, and is larger than the size of the art exported. It gains about .01 inch around the edges, and when I use 'trim transparent pixels' in Photoshop, it trims it down so it has only gained .07 inches around the edges, but doesn't lose the last line of pixels that are semi-transparent. I am using a script that exports it, then re-imports it and places it in the Illustrator file, effectively swapping the vector for raster. It's part of a larger process I have no control of, so the process is not something I can change, otherwise I wouldn't do that.
Why is it exporting with this line of transparency on the edges? It's causing white lines to show up in the file that it gets reimported to. Until now it was ok because it only shows in the bleed, which gets trimmed off. From now on, though, this process is supposed to be used for non-bleed items, and the white lines are showing up.
When I attempt to use Illustrator CS6 to open an .eps file exported from Google Sketchup Pro 8 I get the following error message "the file is an unknown format and cannot be opened".
If I try to place/link the file I get this message "can't place the illustration. Could not set a position inside the file." Is there an eps version compatibility issue I should be aware of?
In Illustrator CS6 I can't adjust how far a line moves when I move it using the arrow keys. I've gone to Preferences>General>Keyboard Increment and changed the amount, but the line moves the same distance no matter what I put in. Neither Snap to Grid nor Snap to Point are turned on.

This code I created exports my current Ai document as a PSD with set options. It also names the new file what it is called in Ai.
How can I call the created file and open it directly in Photoshop? Keep in mind I would be working on multiple files, so file names would change every time I ran this Export Script.
I could call a specifically named file and open that, but that's not what I need this script to do. I just need it to open the newly created PSD file.
Illustrator CS4: My arrow keys do not function with the polar grid tool. I cannot increase/decrease the number of rays or circles using my arrow keys. They are just dead in the water.

I don't want to make triangle or V-shaped path but add one of the built-in start and end arrowheads, scale them and set arrowhead alignment, all with script. I work for a small publisher that produces knitting books. The problem is this: our tech editor has created charts in Illustrator using the pattern swatches feature. (These are knitting charts. Each square contains a pattern swatch representing the knitted stitch.)
I am then placing these charts in their native .ai format into an Indesign file and exporting them to PDF. In Acrobat, the charts look fabulous. In the Mac Preview reader and in GoodReader, the charts do this...
... the pattern swatches shift around inside their squares. Each of those dots should be centered inside their squares. In Preview, when I resize the application frame, the pattern swatches move as I re-size the frame.
I've tried saving the charts as PDFs and placing those into the InDesign file. Exporting the charts as images (jpg or tif) works, but I have to make the resolution/file size ridiculously large to get the quality of the vector image. I'd rather place the .ai files into the .indd file if possible.
Is there a way to export a document @ a different resolution than 72DPI? I know I can set the horizontal/vertical scale to save it at a larger dimension at 72DPI, but I need the file to be actual size and 300DPI.
This is part of a larger process, and I'd prefer to do the entire process from Illustrator, and not have to open the files in Photoshop to change the size/resolution.
Also, is it possible to change the color mode to CMYK or Greyscale for the exported Jpeg?
I am trying to draw a 3D arrow using 3ds, similar to the top left 3D arrow from this stock image website: [URL]...... and I am unsure how to approach this problem.
It must not be a hard image to draw considering how many people are selling this image online, but I am stuck. I have tried creating a box, converting it to an editable polygon, and then applying the bend modifier to the box, but it does not look anywhere as good as the image on that website.
