Illustrator CS4: My arrow keys do not function with the polar grid tool. I cannot increase/decrease the number of rays or circles using my arrow keys. They are just dead in the water.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have created a polar grid in illustrator with many sections. I want to be able to enter text in every section of the grid and not just along the path lines. How do i create text frames so each grid section within the polar grid is separate and therefore allows me to click on it and enter text. I would also like to change the colour of all the polar grid sections individually. I think it might have something to do with threaded text but not sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the Live Paint option and the Live Paint bucket often. It is really convenient to change the swatch I am using by using the left-right arrow keys to change my swatch chosen in the Swatch Palette. But in CS6, if I am doing so, and the next swatch chosen is a percentage tint of another color (for example, I have a swatch Blue, and a swatch Blue 85%, which is the Blue Swatch tinited to 85% in the color palette and then made into a saved swatch), the "select" box around the swatch disappears, and I can no longer change the swatch choice without re-clicking on it.
I can change easily between swatches that are not percentages of the original, with no problem. CS5 and all earlier versions that had this feature had no problem whatsoever.
In Illustrator CS6 I can't adjust how far a line moves when I move it using the arrow keys. I've gone to Preferences>General>Keyboard Increment and changed the amount, but the line moves the same distance no matter what I put in. Neither Snap to Grid nor Snap to Point are turned on.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen using the perspective grid tool and type, I have a word on the right side of the grid in perspective, and I want to make a shadow of this word flat on the bottom grid. (Like how a tall building casts a shadow flat on the ground)
I tried using the shear tool to do it but it is a bit tricky getting it just right. There must be an easier way to do it within the perspective tool grid.
When I type the word and align it to the bottom grid, how do I rotate it whilst still being aligned in perspective on the bottom grid?If I try and rotate the word using the selection tool it rotates off axis so it is no longer laying flat on the bottom grid.
Words placed on the bottom grid always read from the left vanishing point - I want the word to read from the right vanishing point so it aligns with my word on the right grid wall.
want to translate my vector illustrations to charts for cross stitch kits. Using the grid tool, but the lines aren't equally spaced? I have a 100cm x 100cm document at the moment, with 1 cm making a 'stitch'. I want a grid that is 100cm x 100cm, made up of 1cm x 1cm squares for simplicity. Then be able to print the design out on the grid.

Moving it right and left with the arrow keys lets me see when I snaps
into register.
I also want to do that with rotation.
I've just installed GIMP to see if it can replace Photoshop for me. But I experience some weird troubles. When I try to use the text tool I can't type anything because all the keys acts as shortcut keys. Aren't these supposed to be overridden when using things like the text tool? I also have the same problems with dialog boxes. The tab key is used to hide toolbars, but when I open dialog boxes I would rather want to use tab to jump from one input box to another. Plus I couldn't enter numbers because the number keys was shortcuts for zoom level.I guess I'm just doing this all wrong? I'm on OSX Maverick.

View 31 Replies View RelatedI purchased Adobe Photoshop CS2 for Windows XP and installed it on my work PC and my home PC.
Everything works fine and dandy on my work PC, however when I try to do some editting on my home PC there are some quirks that I can't figure out.
The main thing is that my Up/Down Arrow Keys do absolutely nothing.
Whether I am trying to edit text and scroll through my fonts or if I'm trying to nudge a part of a picture, the Arrow keys do nothing.
I am using AutoCAD 2002 Mechanical at work and the mouse wheel is set to do zooming in and out. The finger I use on the wheel is beginning to hurt as I zoom a lot so I would like to be able to zoom with the up and down arrow keys on my keyboard instead. Is this possible?
I would also like to know if it is possible to set up panning in all directions with the four arrow keys instead of pushing down the mouse wheel and moving the mouse.
Is there anyway that I can pan up, down, left, right using arrow keys? or zoom in, zoom out using pgup pgdn? I only know ctrl+arrow keys... I think it is more convenient if I use only arrow keys.

Over the last few months i've had an increasing problem with a sore finger causing by an over reliance on zooming with the scroll wheel. To combat the problem I've recently purchased a track mouse but i'm finding it difficult to move around the drawing as freely as i'd normal be used to.
Is there any way of setting the arrow keys on the keyboard to zoom and perform a similar function as the scroll wheel on an orthodox mouse?
Is there a way to scroll using arrow keys (or any other keys) because it drives me crazy when Im zoomed in to a picture to edit some small detail and i go to use the arow keys to scroll to another spot and I end up moving my mouse across the screen. It is also tiresome that i have to keep going over to the scroll bar to get to see a different part of my image.

I need to insert points based on the polar coordinates defined by the equations. I knew a little bit of LISP 10 Years ago, now it's a total blank. I've been trying to write a script to make this work but after 5 days I'm still without sucess.
I'm on a Mac Pro, quad core, 9 GB memory. I have been using CS5 for all my photo work and use Bridge and ACR to do all of my editing. I have set up two monitors with content on the right screen as thumbnails and preview (and other tabs) on the left screen. To do my edits I use the right/left arrow keys to scroll through the images (and then make my picks/ratings) as I go.
I just installed CS6 Demo and am trying to do the same thing...everything else works normally but the right/left arrow keys (moving from image to image) now takes 4 to 5 seconds to bring up the image (CS5 was instant).All paramaters/settings/preferences are the same. I know CS6 needs a more powerful video card (mine is only 256 mb...I will be upgrading soon)...but here's the weird thing which leads me to believe that's not the problem...the up and down arrow keys work normally, i.e. they go from image to image instantly. I edit folders of images that range from 200 to 300, up to 1500 images from a shoot on a daily basis so I need this to work for me!
Also, I'm having problems trying to run a batch in CS6, I set up an action identical to what I had running in CS5 (embedding a text logo on an image) and while it goes through the process of doing the action, at the end it pops up an error message and lists all the images saying it could not process the request. Weird or what?
Is there any way to use arrow keys instead of mouse clicks to move the trim markers (or frame forward/back)? I have arthritis and am not able to do the hundreds of mouse clicks that seem to be required.

However, in my copy of Lightroom 5.3, pressing these arrow keys while the slideshow is running or paused has no effect whatsoever. (The arrow keys work as they should)?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI searched this issue and found many forums discussing the topic, but no solution. When using PS CS6, the arrow keys randomly stop working when navigating around in text. This is extremely frustrating. Per other discussions, and my experience, there doesn't seem to be a constant trigger. Saving the PS file when it happens SEEMS to fix it - at least temporarily. It's been happening off and on since I upgraded.
Adobe reps (they're say "employee") monitoring the photoshop.com forums suggested the fix is to close all other apps. No one works that way. Chrome (or other browsers) were speculated to be the cause. but I just had this happen without any browser open.

Attached is an x6 file with 2 text blocks. The top block has the following instructions:
Using your text tool, select the text below.Try to move around in it using your arrow keys.Also, left justify the text. Then right justify the text.(Watch the icon when you do it)
The second text block is the problem. This second block of text is originally from an x3 file, then x5, now x6. Never had a problem with it before but today it didn't work, so I copy and pasted this text block to a new file, same problem. I don't have this problem in any other file.
EDIT: to be clear, I mean 'move around the cursor in the text' not move the text around the page.

how to move the window around with the arrow keys and I just can't find it. A little box popped up in the upper left hand corner that allowed you to move the drawing window around to find a hidden dialog box.
In 2013 Civil 3d I am having the issue that when I select the Add/ Delete scales the cursor changes to an arrow and the program waits. If i hit the exscape key it goes back to normal. My best guess is the dialog box is popping up behind the drafting window.

I'm running a legit version of Photoshop CS2 on Windows XP. I've had a number of basic functions not work ever since I first installed, such as the Ctrl +/- not working, the [ and ] brush size adjustment funtion not working, the nudge facility of the arrow keys in Move Tool mode not working, and in Text Tool mode, the arrow keys do not move the cursor, but instead create spurious charachters like &'%# etc.

One thing however is that to pan to the right side of the screen I have to press left arrow key. It is sort of pressing the "wrong" key to get the model slide to the "right" direction.
