Photoshop :: CS4 Simple Text, Lines And Shapes
Mar 16, 2009Looking for a simple procedure to create text and shapes in CS4 starting with a blank document. Text added fine. After dragging with the rectangle tool, the result sometimes disappears, or not; in any case it does not print. When I add a line by dragging, the rectangle disappears. I must be missing something about layers, but have tried all the obvious layers commands and they do not seem to help.

How do I split the shape so I can colour the individual quarters? There are similar areas of the design made up of lines that I want to colour individually. I guess the question is, if I created a square shape by drawing four separate lines, how do I join the lines in order to fill the square shape with colour?

Anyway, the images below show what I would like.
The first, I'd like both the tangent points of the square/triangle snap to that of the cirles. [URL] ....
The second, it's already snapped to the bottom as it's horizontal (verticle obviously also snaps) but the angle doesn't. [URL] .....
I would not like to just zoom in and guess as closely as possible as there would always be 2 vertices which I wouldn't want.

Nov 9, 2013I'm trying to create a star icon with lines through it. I used the star shape builder tool and then the line segment tool, but the lines are not being recognised as part of the star shape. For example, when I try to turn the star, the lines remain in the same place. This is pretty much exactly what I am trying to make, but I can't form the segments into one cohesive, editable shape.

Jul 4, 2013My stroke when drawing shapes is center aligned. When measuring the shape it measures from the outer edges of the shape's stroke and not from the center as usual. I dont know how to change the settings back to measure from the center of the stroke of the shape. As I said, the stroke is adjusted to the center align option...? (using Illustrator CS5)

Jun 25, 2012Illustrator keeps freezing when applying an effect such as texture-grain to a simple gradient, or even rasterizing a simple black circle. My system is about a 6month old macbook pro with 16gb ram, i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB. What could be causing this? It wasn't like this when i first started using the laptop but has started to do it everytime i try and do any of those simple tasks recently.

Sep 2, 2013I'm trying to make a logo consisting of a bunch of simple shapes which are all individual layers. All of these layers are on top of a transparent canvas. I'm not sure if canvas is the right word, but basically what I mean is that I launched GIMP and made a new image that's 512x512 filled with transparency, and by default that became a layer titled background which I consider to be the canvas of my entire Image.
I can't seem to draw on new layers anymore. I've been trying to make new layers filled with transparency and draw on them with the free select tool, ensuring that the opacity is not 0 and that the layer is selected, but its drawing on the background layer rather than the layer I made to draw on. So now when I try to adjust the position of the layer, the shape I drew stays in the same spot because its not part of the layer.

I brought a pdf into Illustrator and I want to draw a line over a portion of that pdf, but when I draw the line it appears to place it behind the pdf - obscuring portions of the line. I have tried selecting the new line and bringing it to the front or selecting the pdf and sending it to the back without any success.

Apr 25, 2012I'm working in ACAD 2012. I am at times, unable to draw simple vertical lines in the z-axis. Drawing pluming riser diagrams in 3D. Steps I am taking,
1) Opening the drawing.
2) X referencing a floor plan.
3) Changing the view using the cube to SW Isometric
4) Using the LINE command selecting a point, aligning the cursor with what seems like the Z-axis and entering the distance, heighten enter.
The line drawn is flat. This line can be seen as flat when rotating views. The only solution I have found is to use the "Reset Autocad Settings to Default"
Observations: Sometimes I am able to draw in 3D just fine, but something will happen in the middle of the drawing process that will now only allow me to draw flat. Also was never able to draw polylines in 3D is that how it's supposed to be? Used another computer with the same drawing, at first won't allow me to draw in 3D but after a couple attempts will eventually draw in 3D just fine. Tried starting from a blank template, no luck. Tried changing drawing space to 3D modeling and 3D basics, no luck. Also, when working drawings with existing 3D objects, I am able to snap to vertical point as a start point but cannot snap to a point on any other points on the object that at are at a different elevation.

Jan 19, 2012I'm currently working with some vectorial cartoonish drawings, and while it's mostly quite easy, I'm having problems with disconnected lines. At the end of a disconnected line it needs to gradually get thinner and end in a small, rounded off point. It needs to to become thinner much slower than the normal rounded-off point, kind of a sharpenned edge effect.
So far the only method I could manage is making a shape instead of a line, but it's much harder to work whenever I want to change something, since I have to rework node by node. So I was wondering if there was a way to convert a line into a shape, so I can modify it all I want as a line, and then turn it into a shape and add the sharpened end.

Apr 11, 2013I've got a problem with the combine shapes > slice (cut) shapes. (Designer Pro X).
I often use this tool to cut a graphic to make a repeating object, so I don't want it to have any boarder, just solid color. But for some reason when I cut the shape xara puts a little (approx 1 pixel) transparent line where the shape has been cut. This is often added to exported to the edges of pngs and svgs and looks a bit like anti-aliasing of some sort but I don't want this, just a solid object.
How to avoid this? See my attachment for an example png that I created by simply slicing one rectangle from another, I want to be able to do this without the extra line appearing - ie just solid black.

I use to design posters in a different program and what ever i drew stayed one the page it didn't disapear unless i place another object on top.

May 10, 2012I have just installed Photoshop CS6 and notice every time i add a new layer there is pixelated lines and decayed shapes that show up. This makes it impossible to work. I have a Nvidia Quadro 6000 running in combination with a tesla c2075 there was not any problem i could see with other CS6 programs and it was working fine with CS5.

Jun 23, 2009we use Corel Draw but different versions. Some of us use the X4, some X3 and some even 12 or 11. We have huge problem with the time interval past while importing even a single simple outline drawing. We usually wait from 4 - 7 minutes.
My question is what could be the problem? Different versions of Corel Draw?, bed LAN connection?, or something else?
