Illustrator :: Center Aligned Stroke When Drawing Shapes

Jul 4, 2013

My stroke when drawing shapes is center aligned. When measuring the shape it measures from the outer edges of the shape's stroke and not from the center as usual. I dont know how to change the settings back to measure from the center of the stroke of the shape. As I said, the stroke is adjusted to the center align option...? (using Illustrator CS5)

AutoCAD .NET :: Adding Center Aligned Attribute To Drawing

Oct 9, 2011

I am adding a center aligned attribute to a drawing that is not open in the autocad editor. the alignment works if i call the function from the main thread like this.

[CommandMethod("center")]public void Add() { Do.AddAttribute(); }

But if the method is executed on another thread (which it is when handling a msmq message) then the attribute is added but the alignment doesn't display even though the property is set (and can be verified in the attribute editor).

private void OnReceiveCompleted(object sender, ReceiveCompletedEventArgs e) { Do.AddAttribute();}

How can i get the attribute alignment to work in another thread?

code is below:

public class Do { public static void AddAttribute() { var path = @"c:WAM444B4-002.dwg";
using (var database = new Database(false, true)) {
database.ReadDwgFile(path, FileShare.ReadWrite, false, password: "");
Transaction transaction = null; try {

Illustrator :: How To Unite 2 Shapes With Stroke

Apr 11, 2013

I want to unite 2 shapes with stroke. After that, the new shape will receive "Expand..." or "Outline Stroke" and at the end, when I want to scale the shape it becomes like in the image. I made "Preferences">"General...">"Scale Strokes & Effects" and "Scale Tool">"Options">"Scale Strokes & Effects".

It doesn't matter what shape I want to create, the result is the same. How can I solve this?

Illustrator :: Create Transparent Stroke Above Other Shapes?

Aug 14, 2012

What I'm trying to do is give the blue box a transparent stroke that will "cut through" the red boxes and show the background underneath, whatever that may be ...white, another color, or a photo.

I can easily achieve this when I give it a white stroke. It'll look like this:

When I change to a background color other than white or even a photo however, I end up with this problem:

How do I make it so that I have a transparent border (not white) around the blue box? Which effectively cuts a "transparent stroke" (space) between the parts where the blue and red boxes intersect?

Illustrator :: Cannot Delete Permanent Stroke Around All Shapes

Mar 16, 2013

I am very new to illustrator and on my recent project, a permanent .25 unit stroke has appeared around all of my shapes. I have tried everything to delete the stroke and nothing has worked. When I select the objects, Ai tells me that there are no active strokes set and nothing under appearances either. I have attached an active screenshot to showcase my problem. The pink outline is the stroke I can't get rid of, I'm currently running CS6 under OSX.

Illustrator :: How To Align Stroke To One Side (instead Of Center)

Jan 27, 2014

If I simply draw a line and want to align the stroke to one side (instead of the centre) how do I do this?

1) Giving a path offset effect.

I played with this, but didn't got me any result. I mean by giving the offset different values, I didn't saw the stroke moving to one side.

2) Creating a new brush for this.

3) Something by using an invisible rectangle.

At this moment, not one method have worked for me

What I basically want is to create those 'lineal' lines in the wing below. I already made an outline of the ribs and control of alignment of strokes gives me more options and flexibility to draw this.

Illustrator :: Center Point Missing From Shapes In Outline Mode

Dec 26, 2012

I seem to have lost the center line cross hairs in Illustrator CS6.

I draw some shapes, then go to outline mode and the center lines are now missing. They used to work. Still have them in CS5.

Here are a couple of images that show what I mean.
Here in 5 you can see the center points in each shape

Here is a similar picture from 6 with the center points missing.
The center points do show up if I put my cursor over the shape.

But when i open the attribute editor i can verify that the alignment is set properly and then after closing the attribute editor window the alignment actually displays correctly even though no changes were made.

I read a number of other posts with the same or similar issue, but i still have been unable to get mine to display right. My code is below. What do I need to do to force the attribute alignment to display correctly?

private void centerAttribute() { var path = @"c: est.dwg"; using (var database = new Database(false, true)) { database.ReadDwgFile(path, FileShare.ReadWrite, false, password: ""); Transaction transaction = null; try { transaction = database.TransactionManager.StartTransaction();

I noted that I got the vertical in the center, but I got the left of horizontal a little bigger. I knew that I could get it centered both horizontally and vertically by converting texts to curves. I, however, don't want to convert it to curves because I need to edit the texts.

Is there no way to create a shape that is raster with just a definable "stroke"? I know that's IS' terms, but was thinking it HAD to be in here rather than making a circle, CTRL clicking the layer and doing a CONTRACT SELECTION and then delete.

If not, I'm even willing to do this via VECTOR (in PS) if I got to Rasterize the layer.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Keep Drawing View Aligned To Workplane?

Jul 31, 2012

I have some models which are based on skeleton modeling and where the actual parts are modeled at the position where they are in the assembly. When the skeleton part is changed the parts will update and their orientation related to the origin planes can change. This is where the problem lies, on the drawings of these parts the views are all skewed after an update.

Is it somehow possible to tell Inventor that all views on a a drawing should stay alligned to a workplane? Because it are all parts and no assemblies I cannot use posreps (and I don't want to use dummy assemblies). I also tried setting a specific edge to be horizontal with the rotate command in the drawing. This works for the base view, but all projected views will still be skewed after an update.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing View Aligned To Part Face

Nov 7, 2013

I frequently use the "Make Components" feature in order to derive assembly parts from solid bodies in a single master part file. Then I can quickly align the parts in the assembly with the "Ground and Root Component" utility. However, when the part is placed at an angle, the derived part becomes misaligned in the viewports of my idw files after the part gets rotated to a new angle. Then I have to manually reset the rotation by editing each viewport and selecting "View Face." If the angle has changed only slightly, sometimes I won't notice the difference, and I'll forget to re-align my viewports. Is there some way to automatically keep a viewport aligned with an specific face on a part?

If that's not possible, I guess the simplest method would be to place each part into its own assembly and constrain it to the global UCS, but I don't want to have to do that for every angled part in my assembly.

I also considered drawing only sketch blocks in my master file for the angled components, and deriving the sketch blocks to create parts that are properly aligned with the origin planes in their respective ipt files, but with that method I'd end up with a more complex master file with lots of exported parameters and extra working geometry, and I'd have to constrain these parts manually instead of using "Ground and Root Component."

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Shapes For Content Center

Nov 25, 2013

The time has finally arrived; the current content center profiles no longer suit my needs (for this specific project) and I now must create an extrusion that consists of holes.  This profile is to be used in the Frame Generator and Frame analysis so it is imperative that I get the holes into the custom extrusion (see attached picture for the extrusion I require - it is a column extrusion for Pallet Racks.  I have never entered the realm of custom content center extrusions. I need to do as far as what values I will require for the Analysis part (Inertias, Areas, etc...) and what proces I will take in order to first set up my extrusion to use?  As mentioned, the holes in the extrusion are vital as they occue frequently (every 3 inches) and will affect the results in my analysis. I am currently in the process of reading up on Custom Content Center Publishing. Using Inventor 2014 Professional.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Calculations In Content Center For Steel Shapes

Aug 27, 2009

I am looking at the Content Center data. In this specific case, ANSI AISC Rectangular flat bar steel.

The calculations for Section Modulus seem to be the same for both parameters Wx and Wy.
The calculation for Wx shows in the column properties as: (({G_W} * {G_H} * {G_W}) / 6)
The calculation for Wy shows in the column properties as: (({G_W} * {G_W} * {G_H}) / 6)

These calculations show in the Expression Column as red text. I can modify them but I have no option to OK the dialog box.

The Moment of inertia calculations that are later in the family table use these sections as part of their calculations.

Am I wrong here in my belief that the Section Modulus calculations are wrong and therefore the Moment of Inertia are wrong also?

As an extension of this question, does the Stress Analysis in 2010 use these calculations? Are these numbers used anywhere?

I've drawn these shapes with the pen tool, but the stoke and fill aren't aligned aligned with the path that I've drawn. It's causing issues when I resize (see image below) and also when I align. It aligns the path correctly but because that image doesn't match the path it looks wrong.

Illustrator Scripting :: Apply Current Fill Color To Stroke Then Adjust That Stroke Color's Build?

Apr 9, 2013

I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.

I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.

While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.

I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
