I want to unite 2 shapes with stroke. After that, the new shape will receive "Expand..." or "Outline Stroke" and at the end, when I want to scale the shape it becomes like in the image. I made "Preferences">"General...">"Scale Strokes & Effects" and "Scale Tool">"Options">"Scale Strokes & Effects".
It doesn't matter what shape I want to create, the result is the same. How can I solve this?
What I'm trying to do is give the blue box a transparent stroke that will "cut through" the red boxes and show the background underneath, whatever that may be ...white, another color, or a photo.
I can easily achieve this when I give it a white stroke. It'll look like this:
When I change to a background color other than white or even a photo however, I end up with this problem:
How do I make it so that I have a transparent border (not white) around the blue box? Which effectively cuts a "transparent stroke" (space) between the parts where the blue and red boxes intersect?
I am very new to illustrator and on my recent project, a permanent .25 unit stroke has appeared around all of my shapes. I have tried everything to delete the stroke and nothing has worked. When I select the objects, Ai tells me that there are no active strokes set and nothing under appearances either. I have attached an active screenshot to showcase my problem. The pink outline is the stroke I can't get rid of, I'm currently running CS6 under OSX.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy stroke when drawing shapes is center aligned. When measuring the shape it measures from the outer edges of the shape's stroke and not from the center as usual. I dont know how to change the settings back to measure from the center of the stroke of the shape. As I said, the stroke is adjusted to the center align option...? (using Illustrator CS5)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am digital printer and I am running into an issue printing an .EPS. I can open the file in AI ( I've used AI5 and 6) and all the layers are the layers are there and good. The only this for some reason the file has been cut into a pile of clipping masks and groups. I think all those layers and sections are causeing wierd transperancy issues. Any way of possible flattening the whole thing? I am attaching screen shots of what the file looks like .This is what it looks like with all the objects selected in AI5 this what the layer pallete looks like this is what it looks like as a pdf. Notice the outlined boxes. They shouldn't be there. When printed the bottom right square, the one with the play symbol in it, comes out discolored. Also there is a discoloration behind the stacked white items.how to unite all those sections?

It seems as if the compound path is fine but when I apply the bevel effect, the result is as image 2. How can I solve this so that all of the beveled effect is smoothly and unite instead of rectangles popping out etc... ?

If not, I'm even willing to do this via VECTOR (in PS) if I got to Rasterize the layer.
I apply the exact same stroke to the image on the left as on the blue shape on the right. Instead of getting what I want (and what I used to get), I get this kind of blurred stroke.

For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.

I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.

I have three gifs that I use as the logo for my store. I'm migrating the store from an old fashioned html site to Zencart. Problem is that Zencart will only allow one image for the logo.
Using paint.net, how do I unite these three into one image? Also, the outer two images are animated and of course I want to keep them that way.

1. I've already resetted AI preferences. still nothing.
2. I've already created new documents of all types ''web'', ''print'', ''basic rgb'', etc. and turned on and off the ''align new objects to pixel grid''. ( still nothing).
3. I've resetted my preferences file, under Unit/Stoke ( set to pixels instead of points). still nothing
4. I've already went to the Regional and Language Options and changed the decimal symbol but nothing.
How would I go about creating a shape with a donut hole in the middle, which contains nothing. I don't want to layer it. I simply want a donut, with, let's say a black fill and a hole in the middle which would allow a photo to be seen. Something like a frame.

Though a dragged path (by an endpoint) snaps to a point on another path, when I lift my finger, the dragged point and path jump a small distance away.
Aligning two separate paths to their common (e.g. top left) endpoints also leaves the two endpoints slightly displaced from each other.
How do i do a stroke with a fadeout?

My memory thinks it was a Deke McClellan video but i'm getting too old to rely on my memory being correct and I can't seem to find the video again.
I tried adding a stroke but nothing happeneds.. I still have to mask first then add a stroke.
I want to add some 2pt white strokes (no fill) to an Illustrator document to seperate some geometric paths, filled with color, into sections.
That works fine for rectange on the horizontal. But I also have some polygons that are on the diaganol.
How do I shape the ends of my stroke to match the diaganols? See attached for a close-up screen shot. The white is my 2pt stroke. I'd like it to terminate at the edge of the green path, not intrude into the orange.
