When I attempt to Unite this text (converted to outlines) with the rectangle above it - the objects are distorted. The top image is before uniting the object, the bottom is after.
View 4 RepliesI am digital printer and I am running into an issue printing an .EPS. I can open the file in AI ( I've used AI5 and 6) and all the layers are the layers are there and good. The only this for some reason the file has been cut into a pile of clipping masks and groups. I think all those layers and sections are causeing wierd transperancy issues. Any way of possible flattening the whole thing? I am attaching screen shots of what the file looks like .This is what it looks like with all the objects selected in AI5 this what the layer pallete looks like this is what it looks like as a pdf. Notice the outlined boxes. They shouldn't be there. When printed the bottom right square, the one with the play symbol in it, comes out discolored. Also there is a discoloration behind the stacked white items.how to unite all those sections?

After that, the new shape will receive "Expand..." or "Outline Stroke" and at the end, when I want to scale the shape it becomes like in the image. I made "Preferences">"General...">"Scale Strokes & Effects" and "Scale Tool">"Options">"Scale Strokes & Effects".
It doesn't matter what shape I want to create, the result is the same. How can I solve this?
I have this compound path (green in the print screens below) which I would like to apply a bevel effect on.
It seems as if the compound path is fine but when I apply the bevel effect, the result is as image 2. How can I solve this so that all of the beveled effect is smoothly and unite instead of rectangles popping out etc... ?

I've imported my reference material to a bottom layer and am recreating the text and graphics on layers above it. The reference photos I have been supplied with have a number of problems and most I have been able to fix in PhotoPaint. (Horizontal and vertical shear distortion). However, the 'fish-eye' distortion created by the camera lens is proving difficult to surmount. I have tried using the Mesh Warp tool but the ridiculously small workspace window it generates makes it impossible to render accurate changes to the image. Is there a way to coax PhotoPaint to create a larger working space to increase its accuracy.

I have Photoshop Elements 11. I'm sure there is a good way to do it. I tried Filter, Correct Camera Distortion but end up with a worse distortion than when I started.

I have a horizontal bar graphic and I want to make it have the same shape than a circular graphic that I have as background.
What I do first is to rotate the graph (after converting it in an image) to the right angle, depending on where it has to be positioned. After that, I use the Effect->Deform->Arc to make it fit in the same shape as the circular graph. But when I do those processes (in any order) I get a distorted image, with lines not describing concentric lines (not as radius, I mean).
I got the perfect shape working on a MAC, but now I am working on PC. How can I achieve the same?

I am trying to create a circular graphic that is similar to a race track turn with banking. Is there a type of distortion filter or 3d that I can use that can create the feeling of a vanishing point that bends around a turn?

I have attached the layered image (reducing opacity so you can both template and image). The vendor provided me a flat template, not a path, to do my artwork. As you can see I need to arc the image without distorting to fit a cup template. I am more comfortable in photoshop but I can export to AI if necessary to complete which appears what I need to do via envelope distort from what I keep seeing. However, the template provided is not a path. I tried to trace template shape manually with pen tool and use envelope distort to arc my image to conform but it looked very distorted and no even close to what I was trying to achieve. I tried to do tradition arc warp in photoshop but it still seems to distort proportions.

I tried the Pathfinder UNITE command and the Live Paint MERGE command.
I have three gifs that I use as the logo for my store. I'm migrating the store from an old fashioned html site to Zencart. Problem is that Zencart will only allow one image for the logo.
Using paint.net, how do I unite these three into one image? Also, the outer two images are animated and of course I want to keep them that way.
I have been using illustrator since cs2. And since then i have been troubling with the texts which created in another program. Mostly Microsoft Word.
After converting .doc to .pdf, texts get seperated.
You can see what i mean from the screen shot. As you see all dots on left hand side are seperated and the text which seperated by space button also becomes different text boxs. I moved the texts on the 4th line to point it out. Is there a tool or trick to build the words in to a single text sentence or paragraph? I imagine a tool like shape builder. I need this badly because i have plenty of pages to fix.
How come the width tool can ne used on a path made by pen tool but not brush strokes? Is a brush stroke not a path??

I have drawn a shape using the Paintbrush tool's new smooth fidelity with a 3 pt stroke. But when I go to use the Varible Width tool it want allow me to modify the line.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working in In-design for my classes and everything is working fine. But recently I needed to do some work in Illustrator but when I opened the program up, some of my tools seems to be slightly bugged or something.
The type tool will not make the anchor where I initially click. It creates the anchor around the center point of the type box. This is really annoying because if you have a specific grid, it will not line up to it. I have never adjusted this I don't think because now I have no clue on how to fix it!
Also, my pen tool seems to be messed up. I first create the starting point, but then when I make the second point and try to drag out the node arms to make a curve, it only has one arm! Thus, the curve never is created, so I can't draw with the pen tool, therefore I fail my classes..
This morning, my Selection Tool (the filled-in arrow) is acting like a Direct Selection Tool (the hollow arrow), but only when I click and drag on a group. It ends up select the anchors within the group rather than the whole group itself.
I've checked my preferences, quit and relaunched Illustrator a few times, and nothing seems to fix it. The problem briefly went away a few minutes ago, but came back when I quit and relaunched for good measure.
It's happening in Illustrator CS 5.1. I have CS6, and that version works fine, but I'm waiting on some plugins to be updated for it, so I'd like to use CS 5.1. I'm also running the latest Suitcase Fusion 4.
I created text on a curved path using the pen tool and the the type on a path tool. However, there are portions of the text that I want to taper. For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

two things:
I'm using CS3 on a PC. I'm using the wave filter to distort an image. writing down all the characteristics ie, # of generators, wavelength, amplitude, scale ect. Is there anyway to recreate that EXACT wave pattern on a particular image once I've left the program? It seems to generate another algorithm even if I input the same numbers.
Also, I'm distorting an image at 72dpi as a test. When I replace the image with an exact replica at 300dpi and apply the wave distortion, I'm unable to get even remotely the same results. the wave patterns are much tighter. I've moved around all the characteristics with no result.
How do achieve this effect. I want to create tv distortion, but not in the form of noise. Like when things get stretched, distorted, and look all jagged horizontally. Very similar to when you are losing a video signal.

Any file I open, jpg, psd, pdf, etc. opens with lines and squares all over the image. I can't quite figure out what could be causing this. I thought maybe video card, but it too is current. I have included a picture to display what I mean.
