AutoCAD 2013 :: Drawing Lines Within Shapes?
Apr 22, 2012Whenever I want to draw a line within a shape I have to start the line from the corner. Why am I not free to start where I want?

View 9 Replies View Relatedso im drawing a 3d object in an isometric view. it is a 3d extruded object. essentially it is an extruded decagonal tube. i have, at the bottom, a line marking the center of the decagon so i can snap to it, draw a decagon for the base, and extrude it. problem is, i go to draw the decagon (or anything, for that matter), and i cant snap to the inside of the solid. autocad will only let me select the face of the object. is this a setting i can uncheck, or do i have to change the way i am drawing this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm just starting to use autocad for a College course.
I learned building 3d shapes, inputting numbers for positioning and dimensions as you were forming them, but for some reason, the programme stopped letting me input them in boxes on each axis on the shape, I can only type them in to the status bar at the bottom. This is making it a lot more difficult for me. how to get the option back?
One of my students managed to make previews of the objects dissapear while drawing and editing.
Ex: Making a circle, only the radius line shows up, no preview of the circle itself.
I use auto cad for work and the other day I was drawing and it accidental got switched to 3d view and I noticed that all of my lines are in 3d it only happens in the company template because if i make a new drawing the lines are flat. i have tried flatten but when i start drawing again the same thing happens.

Everything enters but when I enter the last command of the bearing and hit enter it stays in the red boxed outline and does nothing. Upgraded to 2014 and trying to get things set for drawing property boundaries. Tried setting the units to surveyors mode and such but nothing works.

We're using AutoCAD 2013 via a Citrix XenApp server. We have a strange issue where the pointer continues to drift for a few seconds when rapidly drawing lines. This makes it very hard to draw with any speed because we have to keep waiting for the pointer to stop moving.
We've already followed the guidelines here, but they made no noticeable difference. The XenApp server has plenty of spare CPU and RAM. How we can stop this happening?
im currently using Autocad 2013 and it is running painfully slow when drawing lines and copying lines and objects... my experience on autocad is very minimal and how to speed things up a bit. also icons appear next to lines when i join 2 or more line, one for each join, but i suspect they may also be causing my drawing to lag.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working with some vectorial cartoonish drawings, and while it's mostly quite easy, I'm having problems with disconnected lines. At the end of a disconnected line it needs to gradually get thinner and end in a small, rounded off point. It needs to to become thinner much slower than the normal rounded-off point, kind of a sharpenned edge effect.
So far the only method I could manage is making a shape instead of a line, but it's much harder to work whenever I want to change something, since I have to rework node by node. So I was wondering if there was a way to convert a line into a shape, so I can modify it all I want as a line, and then turn it into a shape and add the sharpened end.
I'm designing a badge for my cricket team and have created a design using a shield shape which I've divided into four quarters with a horizontal and a vertical line. How do I split the shape so I can colour the individual quarters? There are similar areas of the design made up of lines that I want to colour individually. I guess the question is, if I created a square shape by drawing four separate lines, how do I join the lines in order to fill the square shape with colour?

View 3 Replies View RelatedLooking for a simple procedure to create text and shapes in CS4 starting with a blank document. Text added fine. After dragging with the rectangle tool, the result sometimes disappears, or not; in any case it does not print. When I add a line by dragging, the rectangle disappears. I must be missing something about layers, but have tried all the obvious layers commands and they do not seem to help.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a file with hundreds of rectangles. I need to print very large 60" x... I would like the shapes to have a bit of organic look. less perfect geometry. Can the objects be selected and some filter or effect applied that makes them more random?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI think there used to be a free script/plugin for illustrator but the company has been bought out and now is working on something else.
Anyway, the images below show what I would like.
The first, I'd like both the tangent points of the square/triangle snap to that of the cirles. [URL] ....
The second, it's already snapped to the bottom as it's horizontal (verticle obviously also snaps) but the angle doesn't. [URL] .....
I would not like to just zoom in and guess as closely as possible as there would always be 2 vertices which I wouldn't want.
im not too hip with shapefiles/linetypes. but here is my current situation. everything was working fine for the past 2 weeks since our civil2013 install. yesterday i started a new drawing with our template, and now our linetypes are just dashed lines. its not loading the x's for fences, or any of our other custom shapes. i opened an old drawing which was working fine, and it now has the same issue.
the support file path is pointed to a local folder which contains a customised .shx file made by a previous employee here.
I've created an object containing several shapes in Illustrator CS6 and exported it as a DWG, In Autocad 2014 I've exploded the block using XPlode command, now I want to extrude this shapes so I can create a geometry and start doing booleans and so one.
When I click in the Extrude option and select any of this shapes I get an error saying that objects of this type can not be extruded. I'm completely stuck I've been going back and forth from illustrator to Autocad 2014 and I can't find what's wrong.
P.S. The shapes in Illustrator have no stroke or filling so you will have to "Select All" to see the whole thing. The DWG and AI files are inside the attached zip. The DWG has been exported using "File > Export" w/ "Maximum edit-ability" from Illustrator.
I've got a problem with the combine shapes > slice (cut) shapes. (Designer Pro X).
I often use this tool to cut a graphic to make a repeating object, so I don't want it to have any boarder, just solid color. But for some reason when I cut the shape xara puts a little (approx 1 pixel) transparent line where the shape has been cut. This is often added to exported to the edges of pngs and svgs and looks a bit like anti-aliasing of some sort but I don't want this, just a solid object.
How to avoid this? See my attachment for an example png that I created by simply slicing one rectangle from another, I want to be able to do this without the extra line appearing - ie just solid black.
Starting with a blank document i want to create a poster. I go to add lines and shapes etc.. after drawing the first line or shape they disappear as soon as I go to draw another line or shape..
I use to design posters in a different program and what ever i drew stayed one the page it didn't disapear unless i place another object on top.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a client who requested some complex custom linetypes. (line - shape - line)
I built the shapes and stored them in my ltype.shp file, and compiled that to ltype.shx. Then I added the custom linetypes in my acad.lin file. So everything works on my machine with no problem. However, when I send the drawing to someone else, the linetype works, but the shapes are left out. My guess is that since her ltype.shx file does not contain my new shapes, the lines are just drawn without them.
Is there a way that I can have those linetypes, complete with shapes, ride along inside/embedded the dwg file?
And before you ask, no, it's not an option to provide the client with the shx file that contains these shapes. I'm one of many different people in many different companies that might work on these drawings in the future and there's just no way that they'll be able to send an shx file along with the drawing every time someone new needs to work on it.
I have just installed Photoshop CS6 and notice every time i add a new layer there is pixelated lines and decayed shapes that show up. This makes it impossible to work. I have a Nvidia Quadro 6000 running in combination with a tesla c2075 there was not any problem i could see with other CS6 programs and it was working fine with CS5.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a star icon with lines through it. I used the star shape builder tool and then the line segment tool, but the lines are not being recognised as part of the star shape. For example, when I try to turn the star, the lines remain in the same place. This is pretty much exactly what I am trying to make, but I can't form the segments into one cohesive, editable shape.
