I wanted to know if their was an easier way to make duplicate shapes on a drawing. I am doing a survey plat and need to make at least 66 circles with a 2.5 radius on each corner of the lot. Using copy on autocad does not work since it will place the circles off center.
View 7 RepliesI have determined that an AutoCAD drawing has the unfortunate ability to have Annotation Scales "hard coded", meaning they CANNOT be removed from the drawing.
Let me explain....
In a detail drawing file (i.e. my master drawing file where I keep all of our standard details), I was getting duplicate Annotation Scales. I would try to use the SCALELISTEDIT command to try and delete the anno scales not being used, but it would appear they WERE being used. (and resetting the anno scales didn't work either)
I was using a combination of tricks to determine WHICH annotation objects were using the duplicate anno scales. I would set ANNOALLVISIBLE to 0 and set the CANNOSCALE to the duplicate anno style to see where they were being used with no luck
I would then use the QSELECT command to group select each type of annotation object that were annotative, and check to see if they were using the duplicate scales. Again, no luck
THEN, I decided to cut-n-paste each detail one-at-a-time from my master drawing file to a new BLANK drawing with only one annotation scale in it (i.e. 1:1). I would paste a detail, and then enter the SCALELISTEDIT command to see which anno scales "came along for the ride". I pasted a particular detail that carried over the duplicate anno scales, but when I checked all of the annotation objects for the duplicate anno scales - NOTHING! I then deleted that particular detail, purged it, and then I was able to delete the duplicate anno scales. But no matter what I did to try and fix that detail (i.e. wblock, cut-n-paste, save-down, etc) the duplicate anno scales simply will NOT be allowed to be deleted even though i cannot find any objects associated with them.
My boss gave me a drawing to make some changes on a particular block; however, every time I try to insert the block, it always insert the block in Paper Space even though I'm in Model Space.
Is there any way to change that insertion point? I want to insert the block in Model not in PS...

I duplicated a title so that I wouldn't have to make it from scratch again. The problem I'm having is whenever I change the text in the new title it changes it to the original as well. What do I do to make this stop?
I just completed a sketch for a simple part I'm working on. It contains some arcs, lines, and rectangles that I've drawn. When I went to extrude them to make the sketch 3D, not all of the shapes I created could be extruded, presumably because in my sketch the lines/arcs did not come together properly to create a closed shape.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I use many of the same brushes. If I copy a path from a file that uses a certian brush to another file that uses the same brush, I get a duplicate of the brush in the brush panel.
Can I stop this from happening?
I use Lightroom 3 and recently it has started making multiple duplicates of recent imported (and exported) photos without me doing anything.... what happens is I import a batch of photos, make adjustments to them, export them... close lightroom.
Then when I reopen lightroom, the previous imported set of photos have all been duplicated and sometimes there is more than one copy of each photo.
Is there anything I can do to stop this? I'm pretty sure I didn't change any settings to make this happen.
I am making a hopper to dispense sand, but I can't figure out the process to make the shape I want. I thought it would be easy! This is pretty much the first sheet metal part I've tried to make apart from easy tutorial things. I'm OK at normal parts.
I've mocked up the rough shape I want from a normal extruded part (attached). I've also attached the start of a folded version. I've had lots of attempts and none of them have really got anywhere.

I was wondering how to create custom shapes with CS2. At the moment i'm dirtily drawing straight line angles freehand and they look terrible.
How would i, for example, cut the corners a square. Id use the rectangular marquee tool rotated 45 degrees and then cut off the corners like that. But it's not accurate at all and there's no shading to make the line look smooth.
i know a few things about photoshop however can't find a way to make triangles. i need to make some edges round, some pointy.

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to duplicate in place? I have a instance where I am using a lot of subtractions and I want to have multiple copies of objects in the exact same position. I am finding that when I do copy I often snap to the object but the direction for depth relative to the view I am in ends up being different. Example being I have a 2" Diameter circle extrude that I want to be 120" long. I created that. I want a copy of it in the same position. I am looking from the front so all I see is the circle. I select copy and grab the center point and snap to the centerpoint. Now I have its zero at the other's 120" mark. I am hoping I could just run a duplicate command, but I cannot seem to find that.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe draw several instances of the same base object, a box for example. Different boxes have different features to plot on different layouts. For example, on one of the boxes we dimension lengths, on another we might show levels or elevations. We have multiple layouts based upon the number of unique features we need to plot. Then we batch plot those layouts to a single pdf file with multiple pages.
We do not plot to a scale, we just use dynamic zoom to make the layout look good.
Once that first layout is set, I want another layout with the second box, then a third and fourth etc.
How do I get the new layout with the second box to match the first one? I want the second box to be in the same position and be the same size as it is in the first layout.
I have hundreds of drawings with attributes that are duplicated. I can't go through each individual drawing, call up BATTMAN and delete them one by one. I need a way to automate the process. The duplicates always show up in EATTE and show up most of the time in BATTMAN. I need a lisp that will find and delete duplicates shown in RED while leaving the originals intact.

It is as if the comupter does not recognize it as part of the screen. My mouse will jump over the bar and I cannot type or select anything inside it.
View 3 Replies View Relatedso im drawing a 3d object in an isometric view. it is a 3d extruded object. essentially it is an extruded decagonal tube. i have, at the bottom, a line marking the center of the decagon so i can snap to it, draw a decagon for the base, and extrude it. problem is, i go to draw the decagon (or anything, for that matter), and i cant snap to the inside of the solid. autocad will only let me select the face of the object. is this a setting i can uncheck, or do i have to change the way i am drawing this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not able to extrude closed polyline shapes. I get the following message:
Cannot create solid from open curve.
Cannot sweep or extrude non-planar objects.
Unable to extrude the selected object.
Other folks have opened my drawing – some can extrude, some get the same or similar message. I’ve tried re-building the shapes to extrude. It worked with one thing this morning and now it won’t extrude again.
I have a client who requested some complex custom linetypes. (line - shape - line)
I built the shapes and stored them in my ltype.shp file, and compiled that to ltype.shx. Then I added the custom linetypes in my acad.lin file. So everything works on my machine with no problem. However, when I send the drawing to someone else, the linetype works, but the shapes are left out. My guess is that since her ltype.shx file does not contain my new shapes, the lines are just drawn without them.
Is there a way that I can have those linetypes, complete with shapes, ride along inside/embedded the dwg file?
And before you ask, no, it's not an option to provide the client with the shx file that contains these shapes. I'm one of many different people in many different companies that might work on these drawings in the future and there's just no way that they'll be able to send an shx file along with the drawing every time someone new needs to work on it.
Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.
I am using CorelDRAW 16.3.0.1114.
Supposedly, when using any of several shape drawing tools:
• If I hold Shift when dragging, the shape will be drawn centered on my starting point.
• If I hold Crtl when dragging, the shape will be drawn with a constrained aspect ratio (such as a circle for the Ellipse tool, a square for the Rectangle tool).
But in fact, for the Ellipse and Rectangle tools:
• If I hold Shift when dragging, the shape will be drawn with a constrained aspect ratio (a

• If I hold Ctrl when dragging, there is no effect on the drawing of the shape.
For the Basic Shapes tool:

My Autocad has started a new behavior. When (in Win7) I double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer, Autocad opens the drawing file and also starts a new drawing, all in the same session of Autocad. Is there some system variable or Windows variable that controls this?
