The tool i want to use is Adobe Photoshop CS2 (9.0)
I was wondering how to create custom shapes with CS2. At the moment i'm dirtily drawing straight line angles freehand and they look terrible.
How would i, for example, cut the corners a square. Id use the rectangular marquee tool rotated 45 degrees and then cut off the corners like that. But it's not accurate at all and there's no shading to make the line look smooth.
i know a few things about photoshop however can't find a way to make triangles. i need to make some edges round, some pointy.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just completed a sketch for a simple part I'm working on. It contains some arcs, lines, and rectangles that I've drawn. When I went to extrude them to make the sketch 3D, not all of the shapes I created could be extruded, presumably because in my sketch the lines/arcs did not come together properly to create a closed shape.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do you remove the border from the shapes tool? I draw a rounded edge rectangle with a gray foreground and black background and I can't see any options to keep the black from becoming a 1 pixel border around the image.
I even tried changing the BGcolor to the same gray and I still get a black outline.
I've been working on a layout in photoshop and used the pen tool quite alot to make my shapes. But the problem is when I fill them they look all jagged (or something like that :/ ). I dont really know how to deal with this, but I just want them to look normal without that pixelate border

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am making a hopper to dispense sand, but I can't figure out the process to make the shape I want. I thought it would be easy! This is pretty much the first sheet metal part I've tried to make apart from easy tutorial things. I'm OK at normal parts.
I've mocked up the rough shape I want from a normal extruded part (attached). I've also attached the start of a folded version. I've had lots of attempts and none of them have really got anywhere.
How can I make this??
It might just be my coppy of Photoshop (7), but whenever I use the shape tool (round, rectangle etc) I always get a small fixed shape, and can't seem to draw the shape to the size I want. I can't do a free-transform after creating the shape, but I don't wanna do that as it alters the overall look.
Does anyone know what may be doing something wrong? Do I have to change a setting somewhere? Unlike the marquee tool, I m not able to select from a dropdown box for its constraints.
I've used Photoshop 5 for 14+ years now and was forced to switch to Photoshop Elements 11 when we installed new computers at work recently. It seems to be missing an important tool (for me) that I can't seem to find. I don't know the official name but I called it a "vector" tool. You could draw custom curved and straight lines between set points to create a unique shape. Does it exist or is there a newer way to do the same task?

View 8 Replies View Relatedhow the area shaded has a smooth look to the outline... like drawing something on Flash, how it smooths out the wrinkles and stuff.
Is there a way to do this with photoshop? They done that graphic with Powerpoint I believe.
When I try to select points in my vector shape (this one is selected), and I have other vector shape behind that one, I start dragging with Direct Selection Tool in order to select those two points, I got selected three points, two from first vector shape, and one more form shape that was behind and in the area where I was dragging selection. Also, now both vector shape become selected. Why is this happening if only one vector shape was selected?
I'm using Photoshop CC.
way to make parallel shapes using the Path Tool similar to Photoshop?
I haven't used Photoshop in a while, but I remember that you could hold CTRL (on PC) and click with the Pen Tool and it would straighten up your shape for you once the paths are connected and would like to do similar in GIMP but can't find out how.
In Elements 11 it was announced that selecting difficult shapes like hair for cutting out people etc was a new feature.I actually now know how to do it now because I have a tutorial from Digital Photo Magazine, It didnt feature in the new guided edits or "How To" videos (Why not?)
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen working on illustrator my selection tools won't adjust shapes anymore. I can move shapes around but I cannot resize them or stretch them. If I have a rectangle shape on my screen selected, the hash marks that are normally in the middle are no longer there, also at the edges of the rectangle the selection tool doesn't change over to the rotate tool. My selection tool also has a small black square at the bottom right of it that I haven't noticed before. I have no clue how I got into this mode, preferably without resetting all of my preferences,
View 6 Replies View RelatedOne of the things I do a LOT is outline a circular object (in a photo) using the line/curve tool in a separate layer so that I can select the circular thing or everything else. Hope that made sense. Anyway, the thing is not exactly a circular and the line/curve tool works great but it would be nice to have a shape tool that would draw a circle that could be sized/positioned and slightly deformed using nibs (or nubs or whatever) similar to the line/curve tool.
Is there a way to do that with the built in shape tool? Or is there a plugin?

I'm using the Pencil Tool to draw shapes (not good enough for the Pen Tool yet) and some of my paths are not as smooth as I'd like, so I go over them with the Smooth Tool, though it seems like it either smooths the path a little bit or completely changes its shape.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to create a curve with the path tool and it seems like if I have a deep curve the curve becomes smooth but if I have a shallow curve (which is what I want), the curve is jagged and not very smooth - see attached thumbnail.
I've tried to convert the path to a selection then sharpen the selection and also add a feather to the selection to try and smooth it out but I have not been successful. How can I get this shallow curve I want but also get the curve nice and smooth?
