View 2 RepliesWhere can I find the “steel angle” L-shape?In the palettes, I could find the I, W and C steel shapes but wondering if the steel angle (L-shape) is somewhere else in the AutoCAD
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that AutoCad 2008 has a library of steel shapes in it that inserts a profile view as a polyline, but I cant remember where it is or how to use it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am looking at the Content Center data. In this specific case, ANSI AISC Rectangular flat bar steel.
The calculations for Section Modulus seem to be the same for both parameters Wx and Wy.
The calculation for Wx shows in the column properties as: (({G_W} * {G_H} * {G_W}) / 6)
The calculation for Wy shows in the column properties as: (({G_W} * {G_W} * {G_H}) / 6)
These calculations show in the Expression Column as red text. I can modify them but I have no option to OK the dialog box.
The Moment of inertia calculations that are later in the family table use these sections as part of their calculations.
Am I wrong here in my belief that the Section Modulus calculations are wrong and therefore the Moment of Inertia are wrong also?
As an extension of this question, does the Stress Analysis in 2010 use these calculations? Are these numbers used anywhere?
I've created sections and set up Materials List with Shapes Defined (Edit Material List.jpg) but the View Group Properties do not reflect this and have to be edited to suit.

Convert to Editable Shapes no longer appears on my right click / context menu in XDP 7.1.1.17621
Not sure when it disappeared... 7, 7.1, 7.1.1
Should it be there? Is it me? Can I get it back?
[I know I can use the Arrange Menu, or Ctrl+Shift+S but am simply used to right-clicking!]
My CS6 Photoshop can no longer find scratch disks and won't load... I have reloaded the software but it still won't load and gives me the same error.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 3d topographic survey plan. I need to take sections at various locations and would like to know the best way of going about this.
I am used to working with solids and so would normally just take a section plane but this won't work as the 3d topographic survey plan I have is made up of polylines.
I am not able to find the proper folder in Windows Vista for installing additional actions.
My folders are as follows:
C:ProgramFilesAdobePhotoshop Elements10.0Localesen_US - (at this point there are 4 folders below but not one that says Workflow Panels)
notice the differences from what the other forum entries state:
C:ProgramDataAdobePhotoshop Elements10.0Localeen_USWorkflow Panelsactions
I have imported a .dxf file of a surfboard from another program as seen below. My plan is to create various cross sections of the board in order to cut out a wooden frame. It seems like it should be simple enough but I usually use pro/engineer for any 3d stuff and I have had no luck using the section plane feature on autocad so far.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt the office we're still using AutoCAD 2010.To get the .Net API documentation one had to download ObjectARX 2010 and copy the help files to the help directory.
It seems, however, that ObjectARX 2010 is no longer available.where to get it, or do I have to download ObjectARX 2011? Would that work?
Spent 9 hrs creating a slideshow that I saved. Closed PSE 11 and reopened and can no longer find the slideshow. When I select Find, Media type, Project, nothing appears, but there is a gray box in my grid that says "File size too large". Is this my slideshow and if so how can I recover it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to create a 3D object such as a motor, by using 2D sections from multiple view points? For instance, I have a side view, front view, and rear view of a motor in 2D but I would like the motor in 3D. Besides cutting one of the views in half and revolving around it or push/pulling an enclosed area a certain distance for each individual feature of the motor or extruding many faces is there a QUICK and SIMPLE way to do this?

Suddenly, the multi line text editor in no longer displaying when I select "new" from within the DIMEDIT command. I'm presuming that there is some sort of system variable that controls this, but I have not been able to find it in the help files. The Mtext editor is working from the Mtext command, so I know it's not the DTEXTED variable.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently exploded text but now i need it to be a Polyline, when using PEDIT.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if their was an easier way to make duplicate shapes on a drawing. I am doing a survey plat and need to make at least 66 circles with a 2.5 radius on each corner of the lot. Using copy on autocad does not work since it will place the circles off center.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am not able to extrude closed polyline shapes. I get the following message:
Cannot create solid from open curve.
Cannot sweep or extrude non-planar objects.
Unable to extrude the selected object.
Other folks have opened my drawing – some can extrude, some get the same or similar message. I’ve tried re-building the shapes to extrude. It worked with one thing this morning and now it won’t extrude again.
I've recently migrated from AutoCAD 2008 (non-industry specific) to AutoCAD 2010 so I don't know if this was an issue in 2009.
Back in 2008, when I choose the 'window' option when specifying a plot area, AutoCAD would show the workspace so that I could manually select a windowed plot area, and at the same time the whole workspace would be greyed out except the previously active window area.
This was handy, because we can have as many two dozen title-blocks (and therefore separate viewports) in paperspace, and knowing what plot area I last plotted or added as a saved page setup.
In 2010, it no longer does that. I now have to rely on the dashed border to know where the active plot area is/was (checked 'display printable area' in options>display tab) which I personally don't really like using.
Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.
So i turned off the "command line completion" settings. However, now I have to type in the full command in order to run it. I found that there should be an "acad.pgp" file somewhere in the support paths that will allow me to define command aliases. So i did a complete search of my C: drive for "*.pgp" and the search came up empty; I tried a few different ways and places (trying narrow it down) but couldn't find ANY of these files.
I have the student version of 2012. Does this have something to do with it? I wouldn't think it should because of what it says on the education site: "Important Note :The Autodesk Student Version software incorporates all the functionality of our professional licenses, but includes a print banner making the software inappropriate for professional, commercial, or for-profit purposes."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working as an IT Support staff in a small organization. Being a new employee here I could not find out the details of AutoCAD 2010 CD, whether its a single user or network user, its upgraded or not. How Can I find these details using the serial number and product key of the CD.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am receiving this error whether I am attempting to view a drawing file via the network, via a lotus notes database, or loaded locally.:
"Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exist"
The Autodesk product I am using is Autodesk 2012 LT (trial)
The operating system is Widows 7 (64 bit)
I have had the same error for multiple Autodesk readers aswell on this same PC including:
Design Review 2013, 2012, 2011
True view 2013, 2012
I have administrative rights to the profile in question and I have also attempted to use a separate profile but received the same results. All attempts to manually set the file association have liekwise failed. the program will initialize, but the error message returns with no ability to veiw the drawing file(s).
I have also removed/uninstalled all of the above mentioned programs via Autodesk instructions/procedures for proper removal of folders/subfolders/registry entries (HKey local machine and current user) as well as stoping any autodesk program running in task manager.
My next step is to re-image the machine to make the file association stick to an autocad program.
When I try and open a file from the network that another user already has open, I receive the following message:
"Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the network drive is available and the file exists".
This happens when using Novell Netware. Is there a resolution?
When I start my 'puter up for the first time for the day and I double click a drawing file to open it, without first starting ACAD from the ACAD.exe, it begins to open the file but then says it cannot find it, but it still starts ACAD and opens Drawing 1.
This may be linked to another problem I need an answer to.
I had 2011 C3D installed, uninstalled it, then installed 2012 C3D. Stand alone license.
Now the icons for all dwg files, the one that should show that ACAD is the application that opens it, does not show in windows explorer. See the attachment.
I have done the "file open with ... Always use the selected..." thing with no result. I have also used the repair function on the install disk with no result.
when i click on my express tools and the arc align text command, it doesnt work says unknown command arctext what file holds this command so i can check to see why its not loading
