CorelDRAW X6 :: Constraints When Drawing Shapes?

May 31, 2013

I am using CorelDRAW 16.3.0.1114.

Supposedly, when using any of several shape drawing tools:

• If I hold Shift when dragging, the shape will be drawn centered on my starting point.

• If I hold Crtl when dragging, the shape will be drawn with a constrained aspect ratio (such as a circle for the Ellipse tool, a square for the Rectangle tool).

But in fact, for the Ellipse and Rectangle tools:

• If I hold Shift when dragging, the shape will be drawn with a constrained aspect ratio (a
circle for the Ellipse tool, a square for the Rectangle tool)..

• If I hold Ctrl when dragging, there is no effect on the drawing of the shape.

For the Basic Shapes tool:

• If I hold Shift when dragging, the shape will be drawn centered on my starting point..

• If I hold Ctrl when dragging, there is no effect on the drawing of the shape.

CorelDRAW X6 :: Creating Shapes Through Inverting Other Shapes

Nov 18, 2013

I drew something up on a sheet of paper, scanned it, then traced it's bitmap as line art. I then proceded to edit the vectors to recover all the detail I lost with the tracing. It took forever!

Now that I´m done, I realised there is a problem... how can I color in the drawing, if the lines themselves make up the shape? Essentially, I´m left with blank spaces in between all the lines instead of solid individual shapes that can be colored in.

What can I do? I´m so desperate I´m thinking of creating a gazillion individual shapes with the colors, and slapping them underneath the lines to "improv" a fill. But that will take waay too long, so is there an easier way?

If I could "invert" the shape I have now, so that the blank spaces become individual shapes, and the lines become blank spaces.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Using Parameters In Constraints - Drive Multiple Constraints?

Aug 10, 2012

I need to drive more than one constraint at a time.  The assembly consist of a hydraulic ram that pulls a cable which is routed around a few pullys and then pulls another linear moving member.  I don't really care about modeling the cable right now, I just want the cylinder piston and the final member to move in unison.   I can only drive one constraint at a time, so I figured I could relate the two constraints together by setting them equal to a parameter (variable), but that isn't working.  Is it me or is driving multiple constraints at a time something that would be very useful for a lot of applications?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Coincident Constraints Becoming Fixed Constraints

Aug 28, 2013

I'm modeling cables running through a series of cable clamps.  I'm working in an assembly with my structure as one part, clamps as seperate parts, and cables as separate parts.  I modeled the clamps first and am using them to create my 3d spline to run the sweep.  The clamps have moved several times and each time, the sweeps (cables) do not update to follow the new clamping path.  I have tried multiple ways of solving this.

I've tried to redo the splines using "Include Geometry" and running the spline through the centers of the clamps. I've also deleted the constraints (which for some reason turn into fixed) and reapplied them as coincident constraints. However, once I setup these coincidences, they always change back to fixed.

In a last ditch method, I've created 2d sketches at EVERY clamping location (yes that's alot of sketches, time and effort) and projected the circular geometry to get a center point.  This has seemed to work, but is so much work, there's no way we could use it regularly.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Text Constraints When Using Merge

Oct 2, 2012

Using x4.  I am looking to merge a list of names into a matrix and maintain text constraints.  I want all the names to fit into a certain space (ex. 1.5" long) and to maintain a certain character height (ex. .25" high).  So my output should be no longer than 1.5" and all should have .25" high characters on a single line.  I am able to setup the template and lock the fields, but during the merge everything gets messed up.  All x, y positions, text length and text height have to be manually reentered for each name.

so im drawing a 3d object in an isometric view. it is a 3d extruded object. essentially it is an extruded decagonal tube. i have, at the bottom, a line marking the center of the decagon so i can snap to it, draw a decagon for the base, and extrude it. problem is, i go to draw the decagon (or anything, for that matter), and i cant snap to the inside of the solid. autocad will only let me select the face of the object. is this a setting i can uncheck, or do i have to change the way i am drawing this?

This is making it a lot more difficult for me. how to get the option back?

CorelDRAW X5 :: Converting Lines To Shapes?

Jan 19, 2012

I'm currently working with some vectorial cartoonish drawings, and while it's mostly quite easy, I'm having problems with disconnected lines. At the end of a disconnected line it needs to gradually get thinner and end in a small, rounded off point. It needs to to become thinner much slower than the normal rounded-off point, kind of a sharpenned edge effect.

So far the only method I could manage is making a shape instead of a line, but it's much harder to work whenever I want to change something, since I have to rework node by node. So I was wondering if there was a way to convert a line into a shape, so I can modify it all I want as a line, and then turn it into a shape and add the sharpened end.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Getting Shapes In Custom Linetype To Reside In Drawing

Sep 17, 2013

I have a client who requested some complex custom linetypes. (line - shape - line)

I built the shapes and stored them in my ltype.shp file, and compiled that to ltype.shx. Then I added the custom linetypes in my acad.lin file. So everything works on my machine with no problem. However, when I send the drawing to someone else, the linetype works, but the shapes are left out. My guess is that since her ltype.shx file does not contain my new shapes, the lines are just drawn without them.

Is there a way that I can have those linetypes, complete with shapes, ride along inside/embedded the dwg file?

And before you ask, no, it's not an option to provide the client with the shx file that contains these shapes. I'm one of many different people in many different companies that might work on these drawings in the future and there's just no way that they'll be able to send an shx file along with the drawing every time someone new needs to work on it.

CorelDRAW X6 :: Importing Shapes And Letter Filling

I think cutting out each shape one at a time, filling with text then re piecing together may be the best option?

I should say that nothing of the original drawing needs to stay in the finished image, it's really just the shapes I am after so piecing them back together in a new document could be an option.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Fill Shape With Other Shapes

Apr 4, 2012

I'm trying to find the best way to fill a shape with other shapes( a with a specific size), without overlaping, like the example below.

My main concerns are the spacing between the circles, the positioning should be as paralel to the the outside shapes as possible, and the size of the circles ( or any other necessary shape).

I'm doing this by hand sometimes with 900 circles. is there a fast way to this? do you know any macro/plugin to make the task easier?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Cannot Index Shapes Array

Oct 6, 2013

I am writing a C# (.Net) app to auto create a CorelDraw document, by copying and pasting shapes from a document containing master copies of shapes, into a new document.

I have a simple VBA script that does this. And now I am trying to convert it to C# but I cannot get it to find the shapes from the Shapes array of the layer in the master document.

i keep getting error "Argument out of range".  The code is: string myShapeName = "round_green";

CorelDRAW.Shape myShape = masterDoc.Pages[0].Layers["Images"].Shapes[myShape];

The pages and layers arrays work (return the correct object). I seem to recall someone saying there was an issue with the COM objects returned by the Shapes array.   But in this case the error indicates the issue is with the indexer passed in - I have tried an integer (0) and a variable containing a string and neither work.

My list of  pre-loaded brushes in DRAW is much shorter than the list in Paint. I'm specifically hoping to be able to use this brush in my Artistic Media in DRAW. Or do I need to create a new brush in DRAW? I would prefer not to have to work in Paint at all.

I just need a spray can that just sprays dots in DRAW (instead of the clipart type images that are part of the default).
