If I copy object and text at the same time, it will only paste the text and the object is disappear, but it's no problem if I copy them separately. Besides, If I copy multiple text objects, they will be combined to 1 text object and the font will be changed when I paste.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am in the course of evaluating Xara, and it has a lot of good things going for it compared to Adobe, particularly in combining many of the features of ID and AI. The graduated color screening on objects is way better than AI.
However, I cannot find how to copy an object or text block and paste multiples at specific intervals. Both Pagemaker and InDesign have this feature, so I can't believe Xara overlooked it, as it is particularly useful when laying out say business cards 12 up on a sheet for printing. Yes, I have done a search on this forum and also studied Xara help files.

I have a type object with an opacity mask created in one document. When I copy and paste this object into a new file the text is pasted without the opacity mask attributes. I can separately copy and paste the opacity mask object but then I face a tricky realignment to repeat.
I have an object which has multiple fills on the appearance palette. Is there a way to set all these fills to same color at the same time ?

If I copy text from outside Illustator and paste in a file, everything is ok. But if I copy text from inside an AI file and paste into another AI file or to the same file, I get a bunch of extra text that gets displayed before the pasted text. In the example below I copied and pasted the text "This is a test" within the same AI file, and got the a bunch of information above the text.

My images are perfectly aligned with the pixel grid in Illustrator, and the pixel preview shows them correctly.
This page is useful for dealing with vector shape layers, but the techniques he talks about don't work for smart objects. Strangely, he says he doesn't have a problem with smart objects, but I do.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about: a simple 13x13 pixel image in Illustrator turns to crap in Photoshop when pasted as a smart object (I know an image as simple as this could be pasted as a shape layer, but the real images I'm working with are much more complex, and cannot be pasted as simple shape layers).

I have a layer with some paths and lines of text. I copied some of the paths and text and tried to paste in another layer or document; the paths are not pasted and all the text becomes a single line. When I copied only the paths, it is pasted correctly. If I copied only the text and tried to paste in another layer or document, all the text becomes a single line.
If I drag the selection from one layer to another using the panel, it works. If I drag the selection from the artboard to another document, it works. But these operations sometimes are not convenient. What I would like is to copy the items, target a layer in another document and paste there. With a large document with dozens of layers and a lot of text the drag and drop solution is not feasible.
According to adobe, Illustrator CS4, CS5 have the unicode font support for asian languages. but when i pasted the text in CS4 , it shows junk characters. I applied unicode font(Vrinda) my target langugae.
What are the details to paste the text in unicode.
When I copy some text from one part of a layout to another, it retains the font settings of the original text. How can I have the text just be text and take on the format of the paragraph I'm pasting into?
For instance, I copy some words into a headline, I don't want them to be 12 pt Times, so I have to re-apply the formatting.
Currently I paste into an external text editor and copy again so that it is just text without formatting. Is there a way to do this in Illustrator?
Illustrator CS5.5 on Mac: When I copy text from one Illustrator document and paste it in a different document, the text canges to Myriad (the deafult font). Is there a setting somewhere to preserve the formatting? Even pasting into an existing text style still changes the font.
View 39 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do a quite simple thing in Illustrator that I used to know. But, I forgot how to realise it. Back in the days, on Illustrator CS2, I was able to paste a shape/brush/symbol (one of these) into a text field using the Type on a path tool. What I want to achieve is that I got a shape that I would like to use as a character so that I could paste it on a circle stroke. I don't want to use the brush to use the shape/brush as a stroke color because then the shape won't rotate to fit the circle correctly. The only way I am able to get the result I want for now is using the Rotation tool by putting the shape's rotation axis on the middle of a background circle's axis but this is pretty approximate as a method.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I copied text over from Photoshop to illustrator it kept the text formatting. For example the font, font size, color. Now when I use CC and copy paste text from PS to AI, all text formatting is lost and everything is placed as whatever the current AI text setting is.
HOWEVER, pasting from AI to PS WORKS as it should. All font/text formatting is maintained. Is this a bug or is there a setting for this that I just never knew about?

1. When we copy / paste text within illustrator all color information is lost.
2. When we save documents in Illustrator CS6 then re-open text with color attributes changes to different random colors!!
For example: If we save an Illustrator document with a paragraph of text that is part red and part black when we re-open the same paragraph might be all gray, or orange or (you pick a color).

View 3 Replies View RelatedOnly just noticed this one since upgrading from LR4 Beta to LR4. First session developing a few shots taken over the weekend (.CR2 RAW files). When I only have a few shots, all taken in the same environment, I tend to just get the first one right and then Copy the Develop settings, and paste them onto each subsequent shot.
What happens on my 64 bit Windows 7 box - the first time I paste the settings to any shot, I get the task bar appear at the top right, which after a brief time changes to 'task completed' - but no settings have been pasted. If I then paste the settings it works the second time.

Effect > Warp > Arch > ApplyI then select the text and the object together and click 'Divide' in the pathfinders window.
However when I click divide the text reverts back to being a straight line of type. I really need the arch effect to be knocked out.

I am attempting to wrap some 2D text around an object, which has perspective. See example below:
The above is my attempt at wrapping the word "NEIGHBORHOOD" around the object. What I did was Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh... and just approximated how it should look by using a combination of guides. There has got to be a better, more precise way of doing this in illustrator.
The goal is to copy a text object from one illustrator(CS6) document to another maintaining live type and having a graphic style applied from the appearance panel. When an effect like an arch is applied it is converting the text to outlines during the copy and paste, however a straight fill will not. The type of font (TrueType, OpenType, Postscript) does not seem to affect the problem.
Alternatively I have been able to take the desired appearance, create a graphic style from it, apply that to a path and transfer the graphic style to the new document via copy/paste, then apply it to live type on the new document. Obviously this is not ideal.
