May 14, 2012Is there a way to add new art boards to an existing document (same dimensions and same space betwen artboards)? What I do now is I have to create a new file (with new number of artboards) and cut & paste - is there another way to do this?

Oct 23, 2012I have two laptops, one Mac OS 10.6 and one brand-new 10.8.2. They both of Illustrator CS6 installed via the cloud solution thing, and they both crash shortly after opening existing documents. The minute I attempt to change something — move a path, add a layer, anything — Illustrator crashes with the following error.
Scott suggested I try a Safe Boot. Indeed, whenever I reboot the computer with the shift key held down I'm able to use Illustrator until I quit. I'd rather not reboot my entire machine every time I need to use Illustrator, and I'll never remember to not accidently quit it.

Illustrator Scripting :: How To Access Text Boxes In Existing Document And Replace With New Value
Jun 28, 2012Is there a way to access text boxes in an existing document and replace them with a new value taken from an excel table? I've been able to create new documents from scratch and populate them with excel data, but formating these new documents to look like those we already made is proving more difficult than I thought using just Javascript.
Ideally I'd be able specific an index for each text box and replace them in order as i itterate through the excel(or CSV) document.
I already have a way to pull from the table, another question asked here, but can't figure out the object model to put the new info in a specific place.
Below is what I came up with to create a very rough looking document from scratch:

Sep 6, 2013I became a member of Adobe Creative Cloud a few days ago. Today I started working in Illustrator CC, but it really bothers me that everytime I save my doccument it crashes.Well, at least, it says that it crashes, but if I wait a couple of minutes it works again and it saved my procress.
Also when I close the program and open it again, it already crashes before I have done anything.
I am working on a Windows 7 computer, and with Illustrator CS6 I didn't had this problem at all.
Illustrator :: Crashes When Saving
Dec 11, 2012So a few times now I have gone to save a document and illustrator cs6 64 bit crashes. It doesn't outright close, but it stops responding to windows and all of the pallate windows and main window begin to flash black and then back to regular.
I run windows 8 on this computer and am worried that it just incompatible for the os. So I have begun to run the program in windows 7 compatability mode. For the last 20 minutes it hasn't crashed out, but I've only saved two documents and this error has only happend three times in a month of using the application, though two of those times were within an hour of each other today.
I'm not 100% certain but I believe that each file it has happend on is also one that I had just saved for web.I found as much of a crash log as I can in this new os but it reads as follows:

I'm not really very familiar with the action center control panel but I couldn't find any additional information there.
Illustrator :: CS6 Crashes When Saving To EPS?
Jul 5, 2013I am running a fully licensed pro version of Illustrator CS6 on two machines. They both now crash (freeze) when saving EPS. Fine on PDF, Ai, etc... just EPS on both machines. No error messages, just a freeze then a force quite.
Both machines are 27in iMacs, under one year old, latest versions of Mountain Lion, all top notch and running on i7 & i5 processors. Spec is not the problem. All software is updated.
Really at a loose end. Reinstalled the software on one machine, OK at first, then back to crashing.
Illustrator :: CC Crashes While Saving Anything
Mar 1, 2014I am a graphic design student in college in my last semester and I have many projects invovling Illustrator I need to get done. Since a few weeks ago, both my Illustrator CS6 and CC have been crashing only when I save my progress. I have since uninstalled the CS6 and only have the CC version, but I go to save anything and it tells me Illustrator has stopped working and shuts down every time. I need these projects saved for Monday.

However when I open them both (one in illustrator and the other in Adobe Reader) they both have a cloudy, hazy effect over them. The colours aren't bright and crisp like they were when I saved them at work in CS6. I have them saved as RGB as well...at least that's what it showed the document colour mode was when I checked it

Oct 27, 2009When I save an Illustrator (CS4 and below) file that has a document title and an author in the File Info tabs only the author field is properly transferred to the metadata of a PDF when using Save As PDF. The title field of the PDF gets the file name ("map_data_2006") and not the document title ("Map of Data in 2006"). How do I keep from re-populating the PDFs with metadata (which increases the file size after a resave) which is already stored in the AI files?

Illustrator :: When Printing - Document Prints Black Instead Of Blue
Jun 25, 2013Computer is Windows 7 x64 running adobe CS6. The printer is a HP laserjet 3800dn the driver for the printer is PCL5 but it does the same thing printing with the Postscript driver. We have a navy blue color that prints out black for some reason. In the print options right before releasing the job we changed the use Illustrator colors to use Post script colors and it still does the same thing....Prints black where blue is supposed to go on the document. Doesn't matter if it is a .jpeg or plain text. Sending the job to a different printer works which is a Xerox work centre.

Jun 12, 2012Today when I opened a file I worked on for hours last night, an error message with a lot of unreadable characters showed up. I relaunched it and redid the work. Then I went to save, and it crashed with the same error message.
Then it asked me to sign in, saying I was using a trial version, even though I was signed in and had been using it. So I sign in again, make the changes again, save, and it crashes again. When I open the file, the layers have been altered so that everything is now on one layer.

Dec 19, 2013Strangely, every time I click "save" in CS6 it opens up a 'Save As' window, (which shouldn't happen), then I click save witht the existing file name (it then tells me the doc already exists), I click OK, (and then OK to the next popup window) then get the message that "This file cannot be found". I'm forced to click "ok" and the doument isn't saved. I've tried saving it differently in previous versions and it still doesn't work. I recorded a video of this behavior. You can see it here - [URL]
Why would it be trying to find a file? It seems like an error message when trying to Open a doc, not Save a doc. I can't shutdown my station until I get the document to save.

Illustrator :: CS5 / Random Crashes When Saving Or Previewing Work
Jul 23, 2012I tend to get errors when I save my work in Illustrator. A few read as follows:
"Unknown Error"
"Can't Save Illustration"
"Not Enough Ram Available"
The last error I got read: "Can't finish previewing. There is not enough memory ID = -108" These errors don't happen all the time, but they occur often. And when they do occur, more often than not end up crashing Illustrator and can't save whatever I just worked on.
Here's what I've tried doing:
Cleared my Illustrator preferencesUninstall the whole Aodbe Suite > Run the Adobe Remover Tool > Reinstall Adobe SuiteRun disk clean up/defragmenterI get some of these errors even when I only have Illustrator and my browser open - no other programs are running except for anti-virus/malware software.

I then create new .ai files - create some graphics then want to save some of them in the symbols file.
I dont see a way of saving symbols from the .ai file into the already existing symbols file.

When I copy clip and insert into new file, all the layers import with it.
