Illustrator :: CS5 15.0.2 Crash When Save For Web And Devices (Mac)
Jan 13, 2011
When Saving for Web and Devices in Illustrator CS5 (15.0.2), the application now freezes and has to be force quit.
HOWEVER if I delete the Users/~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_GB folder all works well until I quit the application, then the freeze will happen again. I created a new user and all was fine for that user so I transferred everything across... a laborious task.
what has triggered this AGAIN?...
Running:
Mac OS X 10.6.6
Mac Pro tower.
Note:
have uninstalled, reinstalled, updated 15.0.1 - 15.0.2
have deleted all font caches
have deleted everything... that could be related...
HOWEVER have narrowed it down to the 'Adobe Illustrator Prefs' file in the Users/~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_GB folder too note this is not the folder permissions issue, am aware of that and have thoroughly checked all permissions, ran disk utility and disk warrior.
Currently running on MAC OS Mountain Lion. Illustrator CS6, Creative Cloud Download - Up-to-date
Tested using a small file size and art board, and both save for devices and exporting just gives a loading wheel with no results (let it go for 2 hours before restarting). We have tried reinstalling program with no change in results. The process works fine with the same creative cloud account on a Mac running Lion.
I have Illustrator CS4 on both Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64 platforms. Whenever I attempt to save work via save, save as, or save for web and devices, the program stalls and crashes. I have reinstalled the program and even OS to try and fix this. It works the first few times I use it then starts to save crash.
I was just working on a Photoshop document and I wanted to view in actual size and thought I'd use a shortcut. I tried the F7, but that had no effect. Then I tried (or thought I tried) a shortcut that works with other Adobe products. But what I pressed was, I think, Command+1, which turned my document into what appeared to be black and white but what I think was just the red channel. "Undo" and "Step Backword" did nothing. I don't work with channels and it took me a while to figure out how to see all my colors again. One of the things I tried was to change the mode from 8 bit to 32 bit. Now my doc is ready but I can't save it for Web and Devices. I tried going back and changing it back to 8 bit color, but it says if I do that it will merge all my layers and I don't want to do that. Any ideas? It's so annoying. All I did was accidentally press the wrong shortcut and now it seems like I am going to have to start the whole project from scratch.
I have sliced all my pieces in PS. I then went to Save for Web and Devices. For some reason my slice tool cannot be grabbed (I click on it and it doesn't turn to slicer). Also, the color table is all gray. No colors. I am going nuts! I have tried everything to make them appear.
I am taking a DW class (didnt know I had to have extensive knowledge in PS first, so now learning both programs for school), and my project was due last night. I need to hand it in Thur night but I can't do the things I need to in order to get it ready for DW.
I have done this before many times without a hitch.
I am using a psd format that I designed. It is no more complex than others I have done. It is small, just a horizontal navbar about the size of the one on Apple's website.
I tried exporting it, flattening it, slicing it removing the slices.
I think it is a problem with the application itself.
I have tried repairing my permissions, restarting, and holding Cmd, Opt, Control, Shift during PS startup to reset the settings.
I was turning a mov. file into a gif. When I was finished I went to save for web & devices and after it finished loading... the gif couldn't be seen but a coral pink box took the space. Then I get a message stateing that Adobe CS5.1 is not responding... Then it closes down the program. I'm able to make other gifs. Even ones with more frames. They all turn out to be fine. It's just this certain one I try to make that always ends up closeing down the program. The file size is 248MB and the gif I'm trying to make only needs 91 frames. I even used the same mov. file and made a different gif from it and it worked perfectly! I've tried reinstalling but that didn't fix anything.
I have just started receiveing an error message when I go to preview a page in a browser. I am using Vista and have Photoshop CS4. The error message reads "Could not complete operationg. A file by that name already exists" (see below). Does anyone have a solution?
I try to hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to save for web and devices, and nothing comes up. So I click the file menu and I see the option is grayed out. I thought resetting itwould help, but it keeps happening, then somebody told me it was the size of the picture, but that can't be it, because I couldn't save a picture 5"x5", and that isn't too big. I have a feeling it may be the color settings,
Ive created a mini animation where by the eyes change colour.I click on save for web & devices and it takes a while to come up.When it does the image is pink until i move it around. Then when i got to save it either crashes or goes to the save screen where i can click save but most of the time the save button does not work. When it does work i get a blank black box that does not render and then the program stops responding. What should i do?
I had to reinstall Windows XP pro and all my software applications, which includes Adobe Creative Suite Design (standard edition). All loaded well and my computer is up and running nicely.
only one problem.... in Photoshop the "Save for web and devices..." function is grayed out and unavailable. :-(
This is a feature I use quite a lot. Before I try uninstalling and re-installing, which, as you probably know is a lengthy process with these Adobe products, I'd like to first verify if this is a known problem and/or something I can deal with without re-installing Photoshop.
For some reaosn when i save my image in cs4 it chnages the colour Above is the original and as you can see all same comlourI save it then the below happens How do i stop this
Since I have a new laptop with Windows 8, I couldn't get Photoshop CS6 anymore, so I downloaded PS CC. It's working great the last days, but since yesterday PS freezes or closes every time I try to save a .gif in save for web and devices.
I'm using PS5.1. When I try to Save for Web & Devices I'm getting write permission errors. I haven't used this application for over a year, but it used to work fine.I also used the Mac Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
Issue is this: Photoshop's 'Save for Web & Devices' indicated file size does not appear to match size of actual exported file. I made a couple dozen animated gif banner ads that are required to be under 40k. I'm using PShop CS5 v 12.0.4 x64. I'm on an iMac osx 10.6.8
Save for Web & Devices says a file will be 39.97k
I click Preview to see the animation and get details. It agrees, preview file is 39.97k
So I save, and look at exported file in Finder (Get Info) And it is 57k
I understand that this is portion of the hard drive used for storage and bigger than 39.97k because of smallest chunk size that can be allocated by Finder. But isn't second number (53,337 bytes) actual file size?
So, question:
1) Is the file size still actually just 39.97k and if so is there a way to see this to prove to myself and the client?
2) If saved file is truly larger than export size indicated by photoshop, is there a straightforward way to accurately predict size at which file will be saved? Or is trial-and-error my best bet.
Quite suddenly I'm having real problems with Save As. (I haven't installed the service pack yet, having read Foster's dire warnings).
Yesterday, Coreldraw crashed 3 times on saving - resulting in a lot of work being lost and an unusable file. Today I received the attached message even though there was no other 'process' or program open.
I try to Save For Web, the whole ap closes with no error message or anything. The optimization screen comes up as normal (where you select gif, jpg etc), but when I hit Save, the whole prog just disappears!
I've searched the forums and tried the following, with no success;
Resetting the Preferences file Setting the Scratch Disc to D: (mine is a partitioned single physical drive) Clean reinstall PS Duplicating files and closing the original before renaming and saving them.
I'm running XP Pro, have 768 of RAM and using pretty modern machine - so I don't think it's a memory problem. I haven't installed SP2 but would rather leave this if necessary, cos I'm scared it'll interfere with something else.
PhotoShop fails to save PNG image - subsequent attempts to save write 0 byte files without error message. This has reproduced on two unrelated machines so far (it was reported to me by a friend, I tried his image, confirmed it, then tried to come up with a minimal reproduction.) This is pretty straightforward - create a blank image, 8-bit indexed color or greyscale at 800x992 pixels, then save as non-interlaced PNG. I'd be interested to know if it reproduces for anyone else (or if there is a known fix, I didn't see one when I searched). Steps to reproduce:-Start PhotoShop (CS2 version 9.0.2 here)-File->New-Set a resolution of 800x992 (this seems to matter!)-ColorMode grayscale (can do this now, or load or convert any picture to grayscale or 256 colors at exactly 800x992 pixels canvas size)-Hit okay-File->Save As...-Select type PNG (any filename)-Click Save-Select None for Interlace (does not crash on Interlaced mode)-Click Ok-Get "Could not save as [file] because of a program error. (As a secondary bug, if the filename is long enough this message is cut off.)
I'm on Adobe Creative Cloud, and I recently installed Photoshop CC.
N01 problem: It planted at various times on different files. But the big problem of the crash while recording that is created 0ko tmp file is unusable. And can not find a trace of my PSD was yet already registered.I do not remember this problem was present on the CS6, and frankly it's boring, because I lost all my work wanting tt simply record.
N02 problem: Other problems also on CC, when opening a file CS6 on a form, direct selection tool is impossible to use it does not select the form ... forced to spend a strange manipulation page, you must click on the shape tool, click on the layer in question and re click on direct selection tool. a series of strange actions ... whereas before it worked very well.A contratio if the form was created directly in CC no worries direct selection.
When I save a file as a v2000 file from v 2007, the file scans to 31% then the computer chokes. This acts exactly the same in another computer. I need to do this sometimes because the person that I am sending the file to has v 2000 only.
My AutoCAD 2013 crashed and as a result the recovered file was saved in 2013 format, instead of my automatic save profile option version set to AutoCAD 2000.
As we have other users in the office without AutoCAD 2013, how do i change the default crash save to a newer version (ie. AutoCAD 2000)?
I recently updated to CC from CS6 and am having issues when working with PSDs containing video layers, or are set up as frame animations: When attempting to Save As, the dialog will be completely blank except for the Save and Cancel buttons. If I press cancel, then return to Save As, CC then often crashes.
So far I am only having these issues if I have been working with video layers and then frame animations. Frame animations in particular seem to cause instability as I can often work with video layers all day without a problem. Then if I import video frames to layers, or open a PSD containing a frame animation, the Save As may not necessarily work.
Sometimes closing and restarting Photoshop will allow me to save again, but then sometimes a whole system reboot is required. It is only temporary though.
I am not running antivirus software or other apps aside from what starts at boot.
Upgraded to OS 10.9. When attempting to print old and / or new created Illustrator C3 files, system crashes. I do not have the funds to upgrade my Cloud software.
Illustrator CS5 15.0.1 keeps crashing on "Quit". It runs fine when using the program and saving my files but when I go to "quit" it, it crashes.CS5 is all up-to-date with the latest updates and the same goes for the MacPro Quad 2.66 Nehalem with 8gigs RAM (Mac OS X 10.6.4).
We have heard from few users that there is a crash on launch after the latest Illustrator update 17.0.1 on WINDOWS. We need to debug this issue and to isolate this. Any user who is encountering this on windows can join the connect session: [URL]
I'm learning from the official books for Adobe Illustrator CS5 and I found that the 3D view CS6 I always crash. CS5 works without problems. See the video here: [URL]
File is here:[URL]
Can you confirm that the error is not only me, but that's really wrong version CS6? Specifically, I use 64-bit version.
I just spent two days automating a large project with Illustrator CS6 actions. I suppose I should have expected Illustrator to crash at some point during this process but I didn't and, of course, it did. Upon starting Illustrator back up after the crash, I found that all dozen or so of my complex actions were gone.
I did a bit of googling and it seems that AI doesn't save these to disk anywhere; rather it just keeps them in memory until they're explicitly saved. That is, creating an action doesn't seem to actually store it anywhere.
Is there a way to prevent Ai CS5 from re-opening documents after a crash?
I think a specific document is causing Ai to crash, so after Ai crashes, it tries to re-open the file when I restart Ai, then it crashes again - ad infinitum!
