View 9 RepliesI was just working on a Photoshop document and I wanted to view in actual size and thought I'd use a shortcut. I tried the F7, but that had no effect. Then I tried (or thought I tried) a shortcut that works with other Adobe products. But what I pressed was, I think, Command+1, which turned my document into what appeared to be black and white but what I think was just the red channel. "Undo" and "Step Backword" did nothing. I don't work with channels and it took me a while to figure out how to see all my colors again. One of the things I tried was to change the mode from 8 bit to 32 bit. Now my doc is ready but I can't save it for Web and Devices. I tried going back and changing it back to 8 bit color, but it says if I do that it will merge all my layers and I don't want to do that. Any ideas? It's so annoying. All I did was accidentally press the wrong shortcut and now it seems like I am going to have to start the whole project from scratch.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have sliced all my pieces in PS. I then went to Save for Web and Devices. For some reason my slice tool cannot be grabbed (I click on it and it doesn't turn to slicer). Also, the color table is all gray. No colors. I am going nuts! I have tried everything to make them appear.
I am taking a DW class (didnt know I had to have extensive knowledge in PS first, so now learning both programs for school), and my project was due last night. I need to hand it in Thur night but I can't do the things I need to in order to get it ready for DW.
I have done this before many times without a hitch.
I am using a psd format that I designed. It is no more complex than others I have done. It is small, just a horizontal navbar about the size of the one on Apple's website.
I tried exporting it, flattening it, slicing it removing the slices.
I think it is a problem with the application itself.
I have tried repairing my permissions, restarting, and holding Cmd, Opt, Control, Shift during PS startup to reset the settings.
I was turning a mov. file into a gif. When I was finished I went to save for web & devices and after it finished loading... the gif couldn't be seen but a coral pink box took the space. Then I get a message stateing that Adobe CS5.1 is not responding... Then it closes down the program. I'm able to make other gifs. Even ones with more frames.They all turn out to be fine. It's just this certain one I try to make that always ends up closeing down the program. The file size is 248MB and the gif I'm trying to make only needs 91 frames. I even used the same mov. file and made a different gif from it and it worked perfectly! I've tried reinstalling but that didn't fix anything.

only one problem.... in Photoshop the "Save for web and devices..." function is grayed out and unavailable. :-(
This is a feature I use quite a lot. Before I try uninstalling and re-installing, which, as you probably know is a lengthy process with these Adobe products, I'd like to first verify if this is a known problem and/or something I can deal with without re-installing Photoshop.
Since I have a new laptop with Windows 8, I couldn't get Photoshop CS6 anymore, so I downloaded PS CC. It's working great the last days, but since yesterday PS freezes or closes every time I try to save a .gif in save for web and devices.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIssue is this: Photoshop's 'Save for Web & Devices' indicated file size does not appear to match size of actual exported file. I made a couple dozen animated gif banner ads that are required to be under 40k. I'm using PShop CS5 v 12.0.4 x64. I'm on an iMac osx 10.6.8
Save for Web & Devices says a file will be 39.97k
I click Preview to see the animation and get details. It agrees, preview file is 39.97k
So I save, and look at exported file in Finder (Get Info) And it is 57k
I understand that this is portion of the hard drive used for storage and bigger than 39.97k because of smallest chunk size that can be allocated by Finder. But isn't second number (53,337 bytes) actual file size?
So, question:
1) Is the file size still actually just 39.97k and if so is there a way to see this to prove to myself and the client?
2) If saved file is truly larger than export size indicated by photoshop, is there a straightforward way to accurately predict size at which file will be saved? Or is trial-and-error my best bet.
Currently running on MAC OS Mountain Lion. Illustrator CS6, Creative Cloud Download - Up-to-date
Tested using a small file size and art board, and both save for devices and exporting just gives a loading wheel with no results (let it go for 2 hours before restarting). We have tried reinstalling program with no change in results. The process works fine with the same creative cloud account on a Mac running Lion.
When Saving for Web and Devices in Illustrator CS5 (15.0.2), the application now freezes and has to be force quit.
HOWEVER if I delete the Users/~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_GB folder all works well until I quit the application, then the freeze will happen again. I created a new user and all was fine for that user so I transferred everything across... a laborious task.
what has triggered this AGAIN?...

have uninstalled, reinstalled, updated 15.0.1 - 15.0.2
have deleted all font caches
have deleted everything... that could be related...
HOWEVER have narrowed it down to the 'Adobe Illustrator Prefs' file in the Users/~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_GB folder too note this is not the folder permissions issue, am aware of that and have thoroughly checked all permissions, ran disk utility and disk warrior.
I have a hardware/software monitor calibrator to calibrate my desktop PC monitor for Photoshop work. However, when I transfer these photos to my phone, they display with an ugly color tint.
Is there anyway to display photos correctly on a cellphone or tablet that cannot be calibrated? In theory, it should be possible to generate a color profile for the phone/tablet and store the profile on a PC. Then I can convert photos to this color profile in Photoshop before transferring to the phone/tablet.
My file is in sRGB profile, when I go to Save for Web, the color changes as seen below (the sky is not as blue for example). How to make the color not change?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first started using CS6 I would edit my photos and when I used "save as" to save my photos then open them in a different photo viewer they would have lost a lot of color and contrast. When I reopened them in CS6 they still had no color. This is all occured on my PC. I used to use PSE 7 (on my PC) and the "save as" function to save them and they turned out fine. I recently got an iMac and when saved on there the same way and reopened in a different viewer they'd have the correct color,
but when opened on my PC the color would be lost again. Also tried opening the images I saved on my PC in CS6 on the iMac and they still had no colo/contrast. So that would mean it's not a monitor calibration thing. I'm trying to figure out how to save my photos so they have the best quality they can have for printing and also the correct color for clients to view on their computers.
PS: I did use the "save for web" option on my PC and the photos have the correct color that way! But those aren't the proper size and stuff for printing. Also I'm very new to iMac and full photoshop so I'm not sure what sizes/pixels/color modes/etc are normal or what photos are supposed to be.
When I have any kind of layer, and I want to change the foreign or background color (with the color picker) I just cant. When I click on the foreign or background color it automatically selects the eyedropper tool, and I don't want this to happen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen hitting saving for web and devices, Photoshop starts to render images but before it's done, it crashes. I get an error-popup with no text and the screen where normally the animation is shown is red. Then Windows comes with a crash report and I can only quit Photoshop. I have an animation of over 150 frames, but just some black and white lines, no color. I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5 on Win7.
I tried deleting the preferences in AppData/Roaming etc, but no result, still crashes.My Photoshop is also updated to the latest version.
When scanning a paper with an external USB scanner I use File->Import->WIA support.But for some reason I always see multiple scanners in the list of icons, although I only have one scanner connected.
It seems like there is an icon shown for each USB port the device once was connected on, but I never know which icon is routed to the USB port the scanner is connected now.The 'wrong icons' throw an error message, so I always have to test all the icons until I found the right icon.
I cannot save for web and devices for some reason. I get the error message shown in the screen shot below.
I'm using CS5 extended, version 12.1, 64 bit. My OS is windows 7. It doesn't matter whether it's a JPG file or a PSD, I get the same error message, and I am unable to find a solution so far.
I used CS6 standard. Why have some images have soft edges under retina (iPad 3) but sharp on a screen (non-retina)? Does this mean I will have to rework all my images to work with retina display? As most of my images are 72dpi, not sure if this relevant or not?
