I have just started receiveing an error message when I go to preview a page in a browser. I am using Vista and have Photoshop CS4. The error message reads "Could not complete operationg. A file by that name already exists" (see below). Does anyone have a solution?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just working on a Photoshop document and I wanted to view in actual size and thought I'd use a shortcut. I tried the F7, but that had no effect. Then I tried (or thought I tried) a shortcut that works with other Adobe products. But what I pressed was, I think, Command+1, which turned my document into what appeared to be black and white but what I think was just the red channel. "Undo" and "Step Backword" did nothing. I don't work with channels and it took me a while to figure out how to see all my colors again. One of the things I tried was to change the mode from 8 bit to 32 bit. Now my doc is ready but I can't save it for Web and Devices. I tried going back and changing it back to 8 bit color, but it says if I do that it will merge all my layers and I don't want to do that. Any ideas? It's so annoying. All I did was accidentally press the wrong shortcut and now it seems like I am going to have to start the whole project from scratch.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have sliced all my pieces in PS. I then went to Save for Web and Devices. For some reason my slice tool cannot be grabbed (I click on it and it doesn't turn to slicer). Also, the color table is all gray. No colors. I am going nuts! I have tried everything to make them appear.
I am taking a DW class (didnt know I had to have extensive knowledge in PS first, so now learning both programs for school), and my project was due last night. I need to hand it in Thur night but I can't do the things I need to in order to get it ready for DW.
I have done this before many times without a hitch.
I am using a psd format that I designed. It is no more complex than others I have done. It is small, just a horizontal navbar about the size of the one on Apple's website.
I tried exporting it, flattening it, slicing it removing the slices.
I think it is a problem with the application itself.
I have tried repairing my permissions, restarting, and holding Cmd, Opt, Control, Shift during PS startup to reset the settings.
I was turning a mov. file into a gif. When I was finished I went to save for web & devices and after it finished loading... the gif couldn't be seen but a coral pink box took the space. Then I get a message stateing that Adobe CS5.1 is not responding... Then it closes down the program. I'm able to make other gifs. Even ones with more frames.They all turn out to be fine. It's just this certain one I try to make that always ends up closeing down the program. The file size is 248MB and the gif I'm trying to make only needs 91 frames. I even used the same mov. file and made a different gif from it and it worked perfectly! I've tried reinstalling but that didn't fix anything.

only one problem.... in Photoshop the "Save for web and devices..." function is grayed out and unavailable. :-(
This is a feature I use quite a lot. Before I try uninstalling and re-installing, which, as you probably know is a lengthy process with these Adobe products, I'd like to first verify if this is a known problem and/or something I can deal with without re-installing Photoshop.
I cannot save for web and devices for some reason. I get the error message shown in the screen shot below.
I'm using CS5 extended, version 12.1, 64 bit. My OS is windows 7. It doesn't matter whether it's a JPG file or a PSD, I get the same error message, and I am unable to find a solution so far.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIssue is this: Photoshop's 'Save for Web & Devices' indicated file size does not appear to match size of actual exported file. I made a couple dozen animated gif banner ads that are required to be under 40k. I'm using PShop CS5 v 12.0.4 x64. I'm on an iMac osx 10.6.8
Save for Web & Devices says a file will be 39.97k
I click Preview to see the animation and get details. It agrees, preview file is 39.97k
So I save, and look at exported file in Finder (Get Info) And it is 57k
I understand that this is portion of the hard drive used for storage and bigger than 39.97k because of smallest chunk size that can be allocated by Finder. But isn't second number (53,337 bytes) actual file size?
So, question:
1) Is the file size still actually just 39.97k and if so is there a way to see this to prove to myself and the client?
2) If saved file is truly larger than export size indicated by photoshop, is there a straightforward way to accurately predict size at which file will be saved? Or is trial-and-error my best bet.
Currently running on MAC OS Mountain Lion. Illustrator CS6, Creative Cloud Download - Up-to-date
Tested using a small file size and art board, and both save for devices and exporting just gives a loading wheel with no results (let it go for 2 hours before restarting). We have tried reinstalling program with no change in results. The process works fine with the same creative cloud account on a Mac running Lion.
When Saving for Web and Devices in Illustrator CS5 (15.0.2), the application now freezes and has to be force quit.
HOWEVER if I delete the Users/~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_GB folder all works well until I quit the application, then the freeze will happen again. I created a new user and all was fine for that user so I transferred everything across... a laborious task.
what has triggered this AGAIN?...

have deleted all font caches
have deleted everything... that could be related...
HOWEVER have narrowed it down to the 'Adobe Illustrator Prefs' file in the Users/~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_GB folder too note this is not the folder permissions issue, am aware of that and have thoroughly checked all permissions, ran disk utility and disk warrior.
I'm trying to create a digital layout in PSCS version 8.0, and when I go to save the psd file (very early stages of the creation...its not very large yet) I get an error that says "Unable to save (file name) because of a disc error". I've never seen this before and am trying not to panic, but I'm on a deadline! LOL And am running behind as usual!
I am using an older mac, and I'm pretty dang maxed out on Gb...gotta clean up some files, but having a hard time finding a free dup file finder for macs...so I'm procrastinating, basically. Could the fact that I've got very little Gb available left have something to do with this?

I upgraded to Maverick (Apple OSX) about 2.5 weeks ago. But this problem didn't start until about 3 days ago, so surely that's not the issue.
I used PS and an Epson 1650 scanner for many years. Bought a new Win 7 64 bit computer recently and installed CS 6 Extended . Now, when I try to import from the scanner I get the error msg: "No WIA compatible devices were detected."

I can save as a different iteration just fine, but when I hit ctrl + S, I get an error that my filetype or name is invalid, even though Im just... saving... a psd file ... that is in all other aspects functioning correctly. When hitting saving for web and devices, Photoshop starts to render images but before it's done, it crashes. I get an error-popup with no text and the screen where normally the animation is shown is red. Then Windows comes with a crash report and I can only quit Photoshop. I have an animation of over 150 frames, but just some black and white lines, no color. I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5 on Win7.
I tried deleting the preferences in AppData/Roaming etc, but no result, still crashes.My Photoshop is also updated to the latest version.
When scanning a paper with an external USB scanner I use File->Import->WIA support.But for some reason I always see multiple scanners in the list of icons, although I only have one scanner connected.
It seems like there is an icon shown for each USB port the device once was connected on, but I never know which icon is routed to the USB port the scanner is connected now.The 'wrong icons' throw an error message, so I always have to test all the icons until I found the right icon.
We're having an issue with saving files using Photoshop CS6. Several of our users are unable to save, specifically on our server. They all get the "Could not save because of a program error" message. It doesn't seem to happen on the computers running Lion, but most of the people running Snow Leopard have the problem.
We've tried resetting the preferences, repairing permissions, etc. I read somewhere about unchecking the "ask before saving a layered tiff" button, but none of them seem to solve the problem.
I use Photoshop daily (7.0). Just recently, I tried to save a photo and got the message "could not save because of a program error". After getting the message again tonight, I re-installed Photoshop on a NEW computer, (went from Windows 7 to Windows 8), transferred my images and got the same message. The strange part about this is that only some of my photos can't be saved - even those taken the same day. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Details:
- they can't be saved in any format. I tried jpeg, tiff, png, etc. Same message for all.
- they can't be saved externally. I tried to transfer them to an external drive and got the same message.
- I tried uploading it to an online editing site and renaming it, then re-opening it in photoshop. same message.
The fonts are distorted and white artifacts occur. I re-installed all apps in Creative Cloud but nothing works.

I was working on Adobe Photoshop CS5 on my 64bit Windows 7 when I got the following message:
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if the solution is available.
How do a save the file before the program needs to close? Can I just close the Windows pop-up displaying the error, or will that also close the program?
I have not saved the file in a while and I don't want to lose all the work I have done.
Everything was peachy until yesterday evening – now (morning after) I started my computer, and suddenly 'Save for web' doesn't work anymore. When choosing 'Save for web' in the menu, the 'Save for web' window opens just fine, but no matter which settings I choose or change, as soon as I click the save-button, I get the following error: 'Could not complete this operation. An unknown operating system error has occured.'
I have not changed any settings since yesterday, I did not update either Photoshop or the system, and I tried restarting both Photoshop and the computer several times – no effect. I deleted Photoshops prefs, again no effect.

The issue NEVER occurs if Bridge CS6 is not running.
The problem occurs intermittently when saving individual files, and nearly every time I try to run a batch operation on multiple files when Bridge is running.
Since a huge part of my work involves batch processing files, I spent some time trying to narrow down the cause. I did 10 Batch processing test runs on twelve 100MB files. My batch process used the "save and close" option in the Batch dialog. I think the issue involves Bridge because:

At some point when a Batch Action involving a "Save and Close" command is run through the Bridge Menu. My Batch processing generally involves 12 files. Usually, one or two files process, save and close properly before the error message appears. I've reset the preferences for both Photoshop and Bridge several times with no results. I'm running 64-Bit Windows 7 and 64-bit Photoshop CS6 Extended.
I'm trying to save a PSD to PDF however each time an error message comes up- something about a program error- I have tried closing and restarting Photoshop - converting the color destination in the PDF dialogue box but don't seem to be making headway.
