View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to come unstuck when I apply colour using the 'Stroke Path' option. Basically I need to know if there's a way of determining the opacity of the stroke line? In some cases I don't need to have such a 'dense' colour. I want to see a little of what I've 'painted over' so as to keep some of the detail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the animation I am working on, I need an object to instantly go from 100% opacity to 0% opacity. The problem is, even if you use the opacity of the layer as a keyframe, the object will not instanlty vanish, even if it is only on for the timeruler for a quick amount of time.
I need a tool that will drop from 100% opacity to 0% instantly.
In illustrator, is there a way to reduce anchors points in a segment path without altering the path?
Is there a better and more efficient way to reduce anchors points than using the pen-minus tool?
I am having some trouble with a file in Illustrator CS6. Within a layer, when I add a fill to an object, the fill doesn't block out the object paths beneath. For instance, say I have a square object overlapping a circle object in Layer 1. The square object is above the circle in the layer. When I add a fill to the square, the circle stroke still shows through the square even though the overlapped part should be blocked out by the fill. The square is set to normal visibility, and I have made sure that there are no duplicate paths that would account for what I am seeing. (I.e., it's not a case where there's a second identical circle path that is on top of the square, so that it remains visible in spite of the fill.)
Other details:
- I'm mainly working with a white fill, but the problem is the same with fills of any color
- When there's a fill color in the circle path as well, the circle's fill color *is* blocked out—just not its stroke.
- I have restarted Illustrator and restarted my computer and these have not changed anything.
- There are other layers within the same document where the normal layering rules work.
- I tried copy/pasting some of the problem objects into a new document, and in the new document, the fill works properly.
- If I move the problem objects to another layer, then the fill works as it should. But as I'm dealing with a number of paths, it doesn't make sense to create a layer for each to solve the problem.
I can't tell if it's a matter of working in too large or complex a file.
I'm new to GIMP and I'd like to know how to cut out or extract an object from it's background.
There's a fest being held at my college and I've been assigned to cut out the logo from the posters of the previous year (I've attatched a copy of it below). I've tried using the cut tool, the lasso and also the foreground selection tool. The cut tool and the lasso tool didn't work as the object is quite complicated whilst the foreground selection tool happens to coat the logo instead of the background. I've tried invert and it doesn't work. Is there any other way to extract the logo?

I have two objects intersecting each other on different layers. The object on the top layer I reduced the opacity for and the bottom layer which was previously hidden now is shining through. I do not want this to happen. I want the bottom layer to remain hidden beneath the top layer despite the lowered opacity. How would I accompish this simply? I have CS2.
View 6 Replies View Related I have comp A (imported from PS) that's a rectangle background with text & lines above it - which is inside comp B.
While on B I'm reducing the opacity of A from 100 to 0, normally over 10 frames, and the text and lines' opacity goes down normally... except the rectangle background! It's opacity is staying the same during the first 9 frames and then going from 100 to 0 in the last one.
As an experiment I replaced that PS layer with a solid from AE and it works fine. The whole comp's opacity reduced gradually from 100 to 0 over 10 frames.
What causes some layers to behave as described above?
All i want is the text to go around the underside of the circle, the right way up, but it won't do it! Using the pen tool to create the curved line is equally annoying, as it seems to cut of the text mid-way through the line,
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have made a curved path in Illustrator CS6, just a simple stroke (left in picture). Is there an easy way to round the corner of the end of it? Something like the image on the right? (I just tossed a circle over top to give an idea)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI created text on a curved path using the pen tool and the the type on a path tool. However, there are portions of the text that I want to taper. For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

I just installed CS4 and I now find that I canonly see a single image at a time, as there always seems otbe a big gey background surrounding the current image. A right click allows me to chnage the useless background color, but not get rid of it. I can't drag from the corner to reduce the size. How do I make it so I can work with and see more than one image at a time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing PS CS4 on Windows XP. I have an image on the left with apples showing 4 that are transparent (opacity set to 50%). I am wondering if there is a way to make the apple look transparent, but not transparent to the others so that the apples look more like they do on the right (not going through each other). I understand these are completely solid, but I was wondering if there is a way to make an object look like it's transparent, but not be able to go through another object.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having a repeating issue and I can't seem to find a proper answer on how to fix it. When I'm saving out a file in AI, all the objects that I want to show are at 100% opacity and it looks right. When I save out a PDF (High Quality Print - Don't keep editing capabilities) the object is repeatedly somewhat transparent.
Top image is the AI file and the bottom is what the PDF turns out. Lower quality with the PDF image since it's blown up so much.

The problem I am running into is with the text dithering. I found a tutorial that explained selecting the layer, then using Layer>Type>Create Work Path to generate a path around all of the text on the layer. I am now attempting to fill this path with solid black. When I select the path in the palette, the dot to fill the path is grayed out. I found an app note that stated when text is active, this is not an option. I tried disabling the text layer, but it didn't work.
I have created a path with the pen tool (the brown part), and now I want to extrude it, but it extrudes the whole containing block (See image below)
Now I have tried everything, from grouping to compound paths etc, but nothing works.
How do I extrude my path?
