Photoshop :: Elipse Tool Paths Disappear When Try To Make Selection?
Apr 23, 2013My elipse tool paths (multiple in one document) disappear when I try to make selection. Is this a bug or is functioning of the tool different in CS6?

GIMP :: Paths Disappear After Saving And Closing A File?
Jan 6, 2011I started using GIMP on a PC a couple of months ago after developing skills in PS over the years on my Macs at home and at work.
I like GIMP and it's stable nature along with everything else... in addition to allot of standard photo editing and graphics creation, I recently used it for some of the animation filters, which are nice.
The only problem I'm having is that when I create a path, or multiple paths, and have them in the paths palette, after I save and close the file that contains the paths, the next time I open that file my paths are gone... completely disappeared.
GIMP :: Free Select Tool - Selection Points Disappear
Dec 2, 2012I choose the Free Select Tool and painstakingly click around the border of something to remove the background. Typically it's a car and I do hundreds of tiny free select points tracing around the car's outline. I make my way around the entire car and double-click to connect the last point with the first one. Then all the selection points disappear, I have no selection around the car, and I'm unhappy.
Here's what happened. Before I started working I inadvertently had done a "Select All". The Free Select Tool was inadvertently left in "Add" mode. GIMP did what it was supposed to do, it added the car outline selection to the "Select All" selection - with the result equal to "Select All" - and there goes all my selection points around the car.
You can end up in the same bad place when "Select None" has been done and you inadvertently left the Free Select Tool in "subtract" mode.

Jul 13, 2013I've been trying to learn how to use the paths tool to edit thing's out and what not - whenever i try to make the last connection though it just turns into a curve automation thing and seems to mess thing's up?

Illustrator :: Create Single Path To Type On Not Compound Path From Many Paths?
May 11, 2012I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
GIMP :: Text Along Path Tool
Mar 8, 2011Text Along Path tool. I create a path then select the text tool and type some text. I click on the Text along Path button and an outline of my text shows up along my path. That's as far as I can go. How do I make the text stick there? How do I complete this process. I know the solution is simple but I can't figure it out and I don't see it in the GIMP manual.

Sep 24, 2013I had actually just used it to render something, and went to create a new path to continue my picture. However, the path tool decided it doesn't like to curve anymore so when I click on the line it simply moves the object. I didn't change any settings between finishing my first path and starting the second. It is still in design mode.
I've also wanted to ask if it is possible to link two anchors together when one of the anchors in question is in a complete path. Like, say I have three lines and anchors forming a triangle, shouldn't I be able to link a new anchor to one of the existing ones? Because I sure as heck can't.
GIMP :: Stroke Path Tool Not Working?
Jun 21, 2011Simply press 'b' for the bezier select tool, and click where you want a line to begin, and click again where you want the line to end. Now, you can move the line around until you get it perfect by clicking on the dot on either end and dragging it with the mouse. Isn't that neat! You can even click on the middle of the line and bend it! Try it! You can draw any shape with it.
If you make a mess, just press ctrl + z and undo your last changes. The GIMP remembers a very long list of changes, so you can go backwards step by step.
When you are happy with your line, or lines. just click 'Edit' --> 'Stroke path'. A box will open to allow you top choose settings for exactly how you want your line stroked. You can just leave it the way it is, or you can make GIMP do almost anything with your line. GIMP will remember your previous settings too, and offer you the same settings for the next line. When the box mentioned above pops up, I choose my desired settings and hit the "Stroke" button, absolutely nothing happens. No matter how thick I tell it to make the line, no line ever appears.

I used Path Tool to draw my shape with points. Then I used Selection from Path to create a closed shape, as I can fill it with solid color or patterns.
But how can I edit the shape after it has been filled with color? After using Selection from Path, the shape is independent of the controlling points of Bezier Curve.
In general, how can I draw a closed shape, which is filled with solid color or patterns, but still editable by moving controlling points of Bezier Curve on the border? In other words, when I move the points, the inner color/pattern should be extended.
GIMP :: Changing Paint Tool For Stroke Path
Mar 23, 2011I've been having this problem changing the Paint Tool in the Stroke Path Dialog .
I'm using GIMP v2.6.11
First I stroke a path using the Paintbrush as the paint tool. Then I change the Paintbrush to Airbrush and try to stroke the same path and it seems like it's still using the Paintbrush (or even worse, it does nothing at all). Sometimes I reopen the stroke path dialog and it seems to have reverted back to the last paint tool I used (Paintbrush) and my Airbrush selection seems to have been completely ignored.
Currently if I want to stroke with different paint tools I have to do the following. Stroke with Paintbrush, stoke with Pencil and then undo (for some reason changing from the pencil tool doesn't have the problem), then stroke with Airbrush. I always have to do this intermediary step of stroking and undoing with a pencil to get the new paint tool to register.

The text goes where I want it, but no matter what I have tried, the text colour along the path (my curved text) is always red and it doesnot look like the font in my text area. Sep 19, 2012Has any body else noticed that if you create a work path, then create a shape layer (say a rectangle) and type some text on the rectangle (text on a path) that if you commit the type and switch to the Path Selection Tool to edit the path text (position of the starting or end points) photoshop cs6 replaces your previous workpath with a workpath of the shape layer you typed on?
Is photoshop cs6 supposed to work that way?

Illustrator :: Offset Path Creates 2 Additional Paths Not 1
May 29, 2013So I am preparing a document for printing on an Epilog Zing Laser 10000. I have an outline for a cut I need to make, but I need to accomodate for the kerf of the laser. I am trying to select the circles and use the Offset Path tool to make new circles in the same places slightly smaller. However when I apply the negative offset I get a new circle on the outside of the path and on the inside.
As you can see there is now a larger circle as well as a smaller circle, but the smaller circles don't even have a smaller circle only a larger one despite the fact I entered a negative offset.What can I do to only get the smaller circle in all the circle? Am I even on the right path as far as the path offset tool? Pun intended.

I can't bold Lucida handwriting as it only has an italic option, so need to give it an outline stroke to achieve a bold letter. As soon as I give it an outline path and unite it to other shape paths the 'bold'ness disappears and it reverts to it's original size.

Jul 13, 2012I want to create an illustration with black outlines. Within these outlines I want to have some spots without outlines that stay clean within the lines. I have tried 3 options so far and have found a solution but it's far from ideal.
1. Create clipping masks for each element that has a spot on it and assign a stroke to the clipping path again after. However by creating the clipping path, the path styles dissapear. In this case I want to keep the pointed ends to the open path outlines (see top image).
2. Draw in the lines where the spots are and create a live paint object of the entire illustration. Then paint in the spots and other areas. However when I create this live paint object the lines again lose their applied styles and even 'end' at each intersection, creating nasty edges where the lines should go 'underneath' smoothly (see bottom image).
3. The option Im using now. Duplicate the path outlines and create clipping masks for the spots without strokes. Then put the stroked outline with the desired styles on top. The problem with this is that I have almost twice as much elements in my illustration now than I actually 'need'. And the styled outlines are not connected with the color underneath, so its very easy to accidentally move something around...
Any easier way to create this effect without all the hassle?

Mar 7, 2013Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?
