GIMP :: Smooth Curves Of Enlarged Images

View 2 RepliesI am attempting to set up a batch that automatically runs gimp-curves-spline on a set of images. However, I have never used Scheme before and therefore am not sure why my script is returning "batch command experienced an execution error"
Here is the command I am using to call the script(via a windows .bat file)
gimp-2.6.exe -i --verbose -b "(color-curve "C:\gimpbatchtest\*.tiff")" -b "(gimp-quit 0)"
And the script itself:
(define (color-curve pattern) (let* ((filelist (cadr (file-glob pattern 1))))
(while (not (null? filelist)) (let* ((filename (car filelist))
(image (car (gimp-file-load RUN-NONINTERACTIVE filename filename)))
(drawable (car (gimp-image-get-active-layer image))))
(gimp-curves-spline RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image HISTOGRAM-VALUE 3 '(0 0 64 200 128 46))
(gimp-file-save RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image drawable filename filename)
(gimp-image-delete image)) (set! filelist (cdr filelist)))))
I got a hand drawing that traced with corel, but curves rough and uneven, and I turned away I wanna outline, either way there?
how to find open nodes in a big complexe curve automatically?
Having just entered the world of illustrator (cs6) I'm finding trying to get smooth curves to do what you want is a highly confusing operation.Being a fairly competant user of Photoshop the same task can be acheived relatively easily by way drawing paths with the pen tool and simply adding anchor points to drag out the desired shape. This buisness of dragging out handles in order to create curves in illustrator is crazy, I just can't seem to get the curves to behave how I want them to, I've watched probably 20 tutorials on this now and all demonstrate the same technique for creating curves, is there a more straight forward, simple way to achieve precise smooth curves similar to PS?
View 10 Replies View RelatedFor a school project I was to render an everyday object and I chose a pepper. I created the pepper with the mesh tool and also rendered it with the gradient mesh, now my instructor says that I need to have really smooth curves but I have way too many anchor points so I don't know how to fix the curves.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI captured the attached image from a MythTV recording. A buddy of mine would get a kick out of it if I could find a way to enlarge it such that it looks good on a Letter- or A4-sized printout.
I've enlarged the image 10x and successfully applied the "Despackle" filter, but the lines in the cartoon look pretty blurry. The "Sharpen" and "Antialias" filters don't seem to readily do what I want them to do.
How to clean the image up so that it looks good enlarged?
Does it exist? If not, why not? I discovered it in SAI and it's amazing how easily one could draw smooth curves with the brush/pencil without a need to mess with vectors but SAI is seriously lacking in many basic things that Paint.net has (i couldn't even change the size of a cut/pasted object). It would be perfect if Paint.net had it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAm I the only one who has edited a stroke with the stroke width tool, then outlined the stroke only to find a countless number of points and noticeably unsmooth edges? Is there a setting or certain way to ensure that the stroke width tool won't corrupt the smoothness of my shapes? The stroke width tool is the most handy new feature I can imagine, but this problem makes it almost entirely useless, unless designing something where precision and smoothness are not important.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI use the magic eraser to erase the background of an object particuly orbs/balls/sphears the circle always comes out lumpy or not well rounded how do I fix this? I found a website that tells about it but I forgot the address of it.
It seems the ball is perfectly round but when I get rid of the white background the ball turns lumpy with bumps on the edges....
I am stumped with this problem and havn't found a thread that seems to give me a points in how to simplify the procedure/problem described. Is there a plug-in ?
I am using PS7.0 and am at the beginner end of the spectrum.
I have TWO pictures and want to duplicate the colour values at certain points in the picture. The manual operation would be to:
1) Open Picture #1, put colour samplers in at the points I want duplicated (max 4) and write down on a piece of paper the RGB values at those points. I make the assumption that the points are all present on the Picture #2 and that the tonal values are all different enough that they fall on different parts of the tonal curve. ....
i am trying to merge the two images into one smooth one here in photoshop, but cant seem to do it

is there a way of clipping a pic using some kind of tool that will cut curves?
and then move the clipped pic say into another window?
I have opened a jpeg image in PS and want to add curved corners to the top left and right corners of the image.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn GIMP 2.8, I've been having a great deal of trouble getting good edges around elements that must be overlaid onto new items.
Such items seem to need (a) a progressive blur around the edges and inward to its center, and (b) a decreasing opacity from the edges and inward toward the center.
I cannot figure out how to satisfactorily achieve this. I use this all the time, but now in 2.8 I cannot. (The only "solution" I can think of is using a fuzzy brush around the entire perimeter, but that does not blur it, and, of course, it takes forever....there's no point in even having a matte if you're going to do it manually!)
Every time I use curves on the new 2.8, it crashes out GIMP. I'm on a Mac.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe smile on the face is too jagged. I tried Gaussian Blur but, while it smooths it, it also makes it blurry.
I have a feeling the best solution probably lies in selecting it and stroking it, but not sure...
Animation! I'm really new to this GAP-program. First I did Video/frames to image and changed (41ms) into (120ms), because the animation was too fast.
Bur after this, it still was too fast, so I changed that manually in the Layers-box (into 170ms - 200ms). (I don't wanted all frames to have the same speed). Speed is now good, but somehow it isn't as smooth anymore.
I heard gimp had a smooth stroke option for tablets. how to activate it if possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to insert some text and have it aligned to a curve or circle. Preferably the curve would not be visible, but used only to align the text.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that when I try to modify path, I can only manipulate one curve, and then it won't recognize any more curves - when I hover the cursor above next curve I want to change, the cursor icon is that with rectangle, not the one with four arrows, and when I click on the curve, it just adds new node in this place. It never happened before. I don't know how else I could describe this problem, but I made a short video that displays it better: [URL] ........
View 1 Replies View RelatedAdjustment layer- curves. I have always used a Curves Adjustment Layer in CS3 to brighten images and increase contrast. I have just upgraded to CS6 and when I open the adjustment layer and try to Command Click choose points in the photograph to drag the line up or down to darken or lighten I get instead some crazy saturation changes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a gradient using the gradient tool. If you look at the image I supplied, you can see a clear line between the white background and the -what is supposed to be- white bg color of the gradient. Why is this not smoother?
Using gimp 2.8 for mac.
I am trying to create a vignette on an image and find that when I use a brush with a fuzzy edge the result is not what I'm looking for. There are these circles that are left behind where there should be a smooth transition. (See Attachment)
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to modify a photo of an embroidered patch of my club's logo to make the texture appear simply smooth, not embroidered. Unfortunately, we have lost the original artwork that was used to make the embroidered patch, but we have nice sharp photos of the patch itself. The photos are in both GIF and JPEG format.
I found Ofnuts' reply about how to [undefined=undefined]add texture, but I want to do opposite.
Is there a way to do that? And is it possible to "de-texturize" the entire patch, or would it be necessary to do each color separately?
I've been trying to make gimp-curves-spline get variable (which is number)instead of number and I get error.
For example -when I do:
*(gimp-curves-spline drawable 0 6 #(0 0 0 15 255 255))*
everything works well as it should be.
but if I do:*(define spoint 15)*
*(gimp-curves-spline drawable 0 6 #(0 0 0 spoint 255 255))*
I get an error: *Error: Item 4 in vector is not a number (argument 4 forfunction gimp-curves-spline) #( 0 0 0 spoint 255 255 )*As you can see, all I did was replacing the number 15 with a variable(which is a number) I also check it is a number by the *number?* type predicate
Does gimp have a feature similar to levels and curves in photoshop? In photoshop, a new layer for levels and curves is created?
Is there a particular part of the forum where similarities / dissimilarities with photoshop are discussed?
I am working on an image of Elvis and using layers and blending techniques to put the music to one of his songs over his face. But I want the musical overlay to mold to the curves of his face. Is there a way to do this? The blend mode I'm currently using is Multiply. I have tried other layer modes but it still does not give me the effect that I'm looking for.

Version GIMP 2.8.X from software centre of Ubuntu 13.04; no modifications, no extras.
I am preparing a batch of images for test submission, for a stock photo library.Recently a person working for one of the visual effects studios in London happened to tell me that these strict agencies use some set of layers that can separate tonality and color values to check for banding, dirtiness, noise and all those technical flaws that the human eye can't notice on a monitor. He said they perhaps have an action for it so that they can review faster.
He said that it is known as 'Craze Curves' or 'Visibility Curves' technique. He further added that all the studios use it before giving the final files to clients so that there is no issue in printing afterwards. It is sort of a quality control check and has been used by digital and advertising agencies all over the world.
But now his email seems to have changed and I can't get in touch with him to know how to use the technique.
