I am trying to create a vignette on an image and find that when I use a brush with a fuzzy edge the result is not what I'm looking for. There are these circles that are left behind where there should be a smooth transition. (See Attachment)
View 8 RepliesI am struggling to create a smooth transition between radii called out on a drawing. I am also unsure of how to create a flange on that edge of my part.
Here is the drawing and the model I have created so far.
I created a gradient using the gradient tool. If you look at the image I supplied, you can see a clear line between the white background and the -what is supposed to be- white bg color of the gradient. Why is this not smoother?
Using gimp 2.8 for mac.
I have a rectangle to which I need to apply a gradient fill - from red to white (paper color).
While this is easy enough, I'm not really happy with the result. I expect the transition from the gradient to the actual paper color to be nearly invisible, but instead I can quite clearly see where the rectangle ends and the actual white paper begins. how to make this transition more smooth?
I need to do a smooth transtition between that first long cube and the cylinder kind of shpe on it's right so that the cube and cylinder are attached toether and we dont see the edges of the cube.

When I combine to pictures, I add a layer mask, and use a gradient to make the opacity move smootly from 100% to 0%
Can I use the same technique, with a gradient, to smoothly remove color from one side of a picture?

I just had my gopro take 377 pictures over a few hours (30 seconds apart) and imported them all into the timeline. What I want to do is compress all these to a time frame somewhere around 1-1:30 or so just for a short clip of clouds moving across the sky. This is easy enough to do by selecting them all and bulk changing the duration to some fraction of a second. The problem is that it was quite breezy so the movement of the tree branches from one frame to another make it more "jerky" than I want when playing back.
Is there some way to smooth this out, I was thinking a real short fade transition between each frame, but that would take a month of Sundays and I don't know if I can get the transition short enough. I tried importing with default transition to cross-fade but the transition was way too long.
How to mold a pipe and flange together wit a filled in transiton as if they were one continuous piece.
The pipe edge is flush with the flat square fange. The combine option does not allow me to conduct operation.
I am a first time Autocad user and have spent most of yesterday trying to work through this issue but am still not able to perform this. I have attached an image which on the lower part of the lines shows arcs with large radii which transition to parallel lines in the upper part of the image. Where the two meet there is an abrupt change in angle which I wish to have as a smooth transition from the gradual change in angle of the arcing lines to the parallel straight lines.

I am planning to move from a PC Windows 7-based system to a MAC. As part of this move I will need to migrate Photoshop Elements from PE 8 in Windows to PE 12 on MAC. Back in July, I previously asked what steps would be necessary to migrate to PE 11 on MAC, but I delayed making the move (waiting for the new MacBook Pro) and will now be migrating to PE 12.
Do I still follow the same steps for a (hopefully!) smooth transition of my tagged photos and catalog? i.e., migrate from PE 8 (Windows) to PE 12 (Windows). Then from PE 12 (Windows) to PE 12 (MAC). Are there any gotchas or caveats that I should be aware of? I've read a few horror stories in various places and am nervous.
I am fairly new to PSE and I want to create an oval vignette in Photoshop Elements 10 with transparent background for printing on white paper using MS Publisher. Using the white background on inverse selection makes a slight line impression and either it should have a defined "frame" or nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to use the width tool, I ran into the following problem. I would like to have a smooth transition of the stroke width between two width points while keeping the original stroke width unchanged outside of that line segment.
There are four width points here: two end points and two in between. The original stroke width is 200. The two on the left have one side set to 100 while the two on the right have one side set to 50. I would like to eliminate the distortion of the line width occuring in the first and third line segments. The only solution that I have come up with so far is to place two additional width points very close to the two middle width points: one with a 100-unit side to the left of the second point in the picture and one with a 50-unit side to the right of the third point in the picture. Yet there will be a small distirtion in between.
Trying to edit an 8 to 10 second fade from black to a clip.
The closest I can get is this: Black color, Crossfade Transition, Video Clip This would work, but transitions are limited to 3 seconds.
Also, is there a way to freeze a video for a defined amount of time? I know inserting a capture of the last frame as a still image would work, but seems like a bit of extra work.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to create a fade-style edge transition that works regardless of the background the object is placed on. I've tried the blend tool and the shadow tool.
The blend tool gave a good result on a colored background, but it was terrible when the object is moved over anything lighter. The shadow tool was better at handling differences, but I can't find a way to make the shadow the proper color. I need the object's color to just edge-fade into whatever background it is on.
Using the axis transition how would I go about creating a push, it sounds so simple but I've been screwing around for a little bit and haven't done it.
I've done a "slide in" on my incoming clip but thats just half of it. Also, I saw somewhere that you can reveal the axis nodes on a timeline axis effect, but I'll be damned it I cant remember how.

Is it possible to create one of these "Backspaces Keys" of my own, or is it only possible to copy one from Google somewhere and render the image in Gimp to make it look more like a logo? How do I go about doing this in the Gimp format if it is possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a go at making a fake rainbow to use in a design the other day.
I did it by first creating a circle on a transparent layer and filling it red (diamater=4000px) . Then I copied and pasted it in as a new layer, bucket filled it to orange and reduced the size to 95%. I then repasted the red circle in and repeated the process a la ROYGBIV... Then I merged the layers down and hey presto- a rainbow.
Problem is that when you zoom in to it it doesn't appear to be a perfect transition between the layers. eg.
Also, It converts fine to jpeg on my computer but the site that I want to upload it to seems to make the edges of the rainbow a bit rough. Can't work out how to take a screenshot of that, it shows up when you look at it on full screen and I don't know how to use my snip tool without minimizing it.
I have used gimp before with awesome results, but one thing I have not been able to find for Gimp is a tutorial on how to create an exploding effect. I am specifically looking to be able to have a picture of say a face, then being able to have the left half of the face look like it is exploding while keeping the right face fully intact. sort of like the image that I have linked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a machine knitter. I'm converting images into 2,3 or 4-colors for knitting on my compuerized knitting machine. I need to have a separate "line" for each color of the image in order for my machine to knit with yarn of that color. If 4 colors, I must knit 4 times for each row, once with each color.
I'm doing pretty well with creating the needed image file of 2,3 or 4 colors, but have no clue how I might be able to create a master monster file where each horizontal "line" is essentially exploded into 4 lines, one for each color.
How to create the borders for the first row of letter in this image.

I have been creating circles on a transparent background. When I applied logo on one of my images I notice little white doted edges. I see little white dots. Using Myriad Pro text. The letters in question are 'n' and 'h' - both lowercase. Also working in CS6.

So my question is: is there a way to align them perfectly? or a is this known to be impossible in illustrator? Is there a workaround?
I'm thinking about some new feature which I'd love to see in GIMP but can'tadd it myself. Maybe there's a way to achieve it.
To the point. I'd love to be able to create new image from clipboard from acommand line. There is such function so I guess it wouldn't be a problem toadd it. Having this one could make a shortcut (e.g. in Unity's launcher RMBmenu). It's useful when some app (e.g. screenshot taking) puts image inclipboard and you want to quickly edit it.
