I PMed someone for creating my logo for a FM station project.
I want to add the letter KAPY & the numbers 91.7 to this image to create a logo for a Community Radio Station.
So I assue I need to create a layer to would contain the letters & numbers, correct?
I have already installed the correct font in windows, I will be using.
i was wondering if it would be possible to get a plugin or maybe there's a way to do this that would 'blend' the border of one image that you paste on top of another, larger image. so that the borders wont contrast - like a black dot on a white page.
if that description doesn't make sense, imagine using such a tool on a a black dot on a white page. it would make the outer part of the circle transition from black, to dark grey, to a lighter grey, and then to white...
I just need a square image with a letter on it. Here is what I have done:
1) File - new. 256x256. OK.
2) Click the 'A' button in the toolbox
3) Click 'Use Editor (since nothing seems to work)
4) Drag a rectangle onto my image.
5) Click on the editor
6) Type the letter 'x'
Guess what happens? Absolutely NOTHING! If I type other random letters, the editor disappears. What am I doing wrong? (and why is this so difficult?).
1st post and new to gimp. this is my 1st attempt at anything with gimp. No previous experience with any other photo editing tool other than Microsoft Paint.
I have a company logo with a white background. I want to make the white backgound dissapear(become transparent) and than create a white border around the graphics in the image. After this editing I will take this edited image and place it on top of a larger image and it will some "pop" and not blend in.
I am having an issue with Gimp after taking a heart shaped transparent bg image and filling the transparent parts with a flame pattern, and adding new image objects as layers, every time I flatten the image or export the image to jpg, there is a noticeable white border around the heart! I DON'T want that!!! how can I export or flatten the image without?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a project with many different blocks of text, and colors changing from letter to letter within words.
How do I identify what any given color is?
When I click on a letter, it shows me a visual block of the color, but doesn't tell me what the corresponding color number is.
Problem being, if I see one letter and want to take its color to use it elsewhere, I have no way of knowing what that color is.
I rebuild old wood working tools and frequently have a need to reproduce the original decals found on these machines. My normal procedure is to take a photo of the decal in high res, import it into gimp then use the tools available to "copy" the image onto another layer(s) in very high res. This produces a nice decal that I can then use on my machines.
The problem I am having however is that most of the lettering on these decals isn't quite a normal font. I can normally find something close, but then I need some way to stretch or otherwise modify individual letter so the fit exactly the text being copied.
adobe photoshop: how do i create cutting lines in adobe photoshop if my document is landscape 8.5 by 11 inches and the image are two side by side 5 by 7 in (so appearing 10 inches wides, 7 inch height)... so basically this leaves a 0.5 border top/bottom/left right...
i need corner crop marks and a little line in the middle top and bottom (in the crop area) to designate where to cut the 10 inches into 2, creating my two 5 by 7 inches for each image... my guidlines are perfectly aligned, i just need to know how to make cut lines out of my guidelines except in the middle

I am tryng to create a nautical letter Y symbol. It is a yellow square with red diagonal lines inside it.
I have started with a yellow square then created red lines above and then tried every permutation of the Shape tool, but I cannot crop the red lines to fit inside the boundaries of the yellow square. I have tried with the yellow square on top and under the red lines, but every one of the shape tools seems to either cut a shape out of the yellow square or cut the middle out of the red lines instead of cutting the red lines off around the inner edge of the yellow square. (I hope I am making myself understood). I don't want to have to shape each line individually to fit within the boundaries of the yellow square.
(I tried to upload the cdr file for someone to try but it was 393kb and this forum would not let me upload more than 256kb.)
i had a great free one before i reformatted. now i have gone all over the web searches, to no avail. do you know where i could fine one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working with Autocad 2011. My objective is to create a dynamic block made up of a circle with a letter or number inside. Here's the tricky part. As I add additional letters or numbers the circle increases in diameter automatically to fully encircle whatever it is I type. The more letters or numbers the larger the circle and the fewer the letters or numbers the smaller the circle?
Or is there a lisp routine for this type of request?
how can I make something like this image. The letters here are made using a newspaper background. In my case I wanted to use images of my family members to spell the letters.

Every time I add a border [image|add borders] all my layers merge. How can I add a border and preserve my layers so I can save as a pspimage file.
In Photoshop I could add a border to the background and call it a day. Can I do something similiar with PaintShop?

there is a possible way that the borders that the 3dface command creats will not be visible. I am attaching a foto in order to explain it better. the red arrows at the foto show the borders that i don t want to be seen at the final product.
In order to make it more clear, i have to say that these borders are not lines that i have drawed. these are lines that are created by choosing the 4 points that the 3dface command needs.
I have been using gimp for a year or so to do simple editing on jpgs, but today i have starting working on easy multi layer images.
I am making a small portfolio. I made the image 8.5"x11". Added a gradient to the background. Added 2 text boxes, aligned them and finally imported an image as a layer. I then resized the image layer so it fits on my page.
All is great except I want to add a simple 2 pixel border with the Script-fu decor>border script. However it seems no matter my active layer the border is applied around the whole 8.5"x11" image. How do I make gimp only put a border around my image layer?
Someone wants me to make them a logo for their website, and they want a "Backspace" keyboard key underneath their text.
Is it possible to create one of these "Backspaces Keys" of my own, or is it only possible to copy one from Google somewhere and render the image in Gimp to make it look more like a logo? How do I go about doing this in the Gimp format if it is possible?
I have been trying to create an image using gimp, but i cannot seem to get it 100% and 'm trying to paste an image onto anothe image , but cut out certain parts etc.the image is of a woman, and i am trying to add angel wings but for her arm to be over the top of the wings not behind.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used gimp before with awesome results, but one thing I have not been able to find for Gimp is a tutorial on how to create an exploding effect. I am specifically looking to be able to have a picture of say a face, then being able to have the left half of the face look like it is exploding while keeping the right face fully intact. sort of like the image that I have linked.
sortalikethis.jpg (83.34K)
Number of downloads: 30 But I want it so it looks like the actual face is being exploded, not a separate image being plopped onto the side of a persons face.
How will I split the image into multiple pages of letter size paper easily. Then I will put it on either PDF or MS Word for print. Then I merge it once it is printed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to re size my text layer so that the borders would align with the edges of the text, but every time I adjust the upper part of the layer the text itself would shift downward, cutting off the lower part of the text. Is there a way I can conveniently adjust the layer so that it looks like the text fits the layer.
Example I am trying to achieve is something like this.
The problem I keep getting is this.
I have installed the fonts but the amount of color editing and customization I can do is very, very small. For example I want to take a letter have it colored purple (so far so good) and then give a border to the letter like thin line of yellow (no option that allows me to do this).
we are talking about pretty big letters here but I cant seem to be able to do this. I am trying to edit this pre existing image and trying to enter dialogue bubbles with thin colored borders.
As for the dialogue/though bubbles themselves I can seem to find any "insert shape" inside gimp, you sometimes characters are yelling or crying or just speaking normally has to be shown by the dialogue bubble but I cant seem to be able to do it.
I have used photoshop before but it is very complex and I feel like I can work with GIMP much more easier and faster but none of these basic options seem to be available. Are there addons to install so I can work easier with than making every single dialogue bubble from scratch? *shudder*
Edit: I am using both the new version and the 2.6 version... I find the new version absolutely terrible, especially when it comes to saving your work as an image file but if necessary I will work with both versions.
I want to design letter S like following image with sharp edges and in vector, So that I will not loose quality if it made into any big size.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a machine knitter. I'm converting images into 2,3 or 4-colors for knitting on my compuerized knitting machine. I need to have a separate "line" for each color of the image in order for my machine to knit with yarn of that color. If 4 colors, I must knit 4 times for each row, once with each color.
I'm doing pretty well with creating the needed image file of 2,3 or 4 colors, but have no clue how I might be able to create a master monster file where each horizontal "line" is essentially exploded into 4 lines, one for each color.
I was just wondering how to create a diagonal grid on an image. URL....
