CorelDRAW X5 :: Shaping Tools - Create Nautical Letter Y Symbol
Apr 7, 2011
nautical-y.jpg
I am tryng to create a nautical letter Y symbol. It is a yellow square with red diagonal lines inside it.
I have started with a yellow square then created red lines above and then tried every permutation of the Shape tool, but I cannot crop the red lines to fit inside the boundaries of the yellow square. I have tried with the yellow square on top and under the red lines, but every one of the shape tools seems to either cut a shape out of the yellow square or cut the middle out of the red lines instead of cutting the red lines off around the inner edge of the yellow square. (I hope I am making myself understood). I don't want to have to shape each line individually to fit within the boundaries of the yellow square.
(I tried to upload the cdr file for someone to try but it was 393kb and this forum would not let me upload more than 256kb.)
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. It is very frustrating and I'd like to know why they sometimes don't work.
Example:
I have a rectangle with a smaller rectangle over it, I want to punch a hole in the bottom rectangle with the top one. I select both, click on "Trim" and it doesn't knock it out. If you look at it in wireframe, you can see the shape I wanted to punch out, but that bottom rectangle is still solid. "Back minus Front" doesn't work either.
I use a rectangle as the example, but things I'm trying to punch out are text converted to curves, imported logos, etc.
Sometimes, very few, the Trim works. Is there a certain reason why it doesn't work most of the time? Something to do with the curve of the shape(s) that I'm trying to punch out?
I was working on a self project and I have text finally set in the right place, but when I remove the outside box, my text disappears as well. I need to find a way to leave only the text on my document and be able to remove everything else.
I'm wanting to cut a shape out of a rectangle from a macro. I need to do this on hundreds of files. I tried to do the following while recording a macro:
Select all shapes Run Arrange->Shaping->Back Minus Front
However, this just results in this comment being recorded: "Recording of this command is not supported: ShapingCommand"
How to call the shaping commands from VBA? I've dug through offline and online documentation and have come up with nothing.
My tools suddenly stopped displaying the relevant symbol (circle for the brush, etc.) whenever I move it to cover the photo I want to manipulate. Photoshop 8 used to do the same thing.
Is there a way to make the Breakline symbol (found in Expresstools) annotative? So it scales according to the Annotation Scale on the lower status bar, and in paperspace.
edit: I just noticed that Leaders don't work in Paperspace either. Linear Dimensions, however, do.
adobe photoshop: how do i create cutting lines in adobe photoshop if my document is landscape 8.5 by 11 inches and the image are two side by side 5 by 7 in (so appearing 10 inches wides, 7 inch height)... so basically this leaves a 0.5 border top/bottom/left right...
i need corner crop marks and a little line in the middle top and bottom (in the crop area) to designate where to cut the 10 inches into 2, creating my two 5 by 7 inches for each image... my guidlines are perfectly aligned, i just need to know how to make cut lines out of my guidelines except in the middle
In the last few months I have had problems outlining letters. I think it began when I upgraded from Draw 12 to x5. When printing the project, outlining isn't complete on the corners of the letters. The fill of the letter and a small amount of white appear at all 90 degree areas. Curved letters do not have the problem. I will give you an example.
Letter Fill black
Outline Color Pink
On all corners, there is black & white exposed instead of solid pink.
I am looking for the best way to carry this out. I have a drawing which I have scanned into my computer. The drawing is of one big shape made up of random, interlocking shapes - something like a jigsaw. Each of the shapes I want to be filled with different, single words.
I think cutting out each shape one at a time, filling with text then re piecing together may be the best option?
I should say that nothing of the original drawing needs to stay in the finished image, it's really just the shapes I am after so piecing them back together in a new document could be an option.
I'm having a problem saving a nautical chart from tif to jpg. I'm trying to make a small copy of a nautical chart to put it into MS Word for a report I'm making on a tide and ocean waves study for a petroleum company (my client).
When I choose - save as, sometimes I get the JPEG option available and sometimes I don't. I'm using Photoshop cs3 extended.
I was wondering if it was possible in c3d to label points in the fashion often used for nautical charts in which each sounding (elevation) point is labeled with the integer component of the number followed by the decimal as a subscript. For instance 7.3 metres depth would look like: 73
Also I've seen charts with depths as fathoms and feet so 64 feet depth would be 104.
There seems to be another issues with fonts in CorelDraw X6.
I was trying different fonts for a design and for some fonts (at least two), letters (and other characters) were substituted for the preceding letter in the alphabet. For example "b" would become "a", making the text gibberish.
It happened with one Opentype font and with one TrueType font. [URL]
I'm working with Autocad 2011. My objective is to create a dynamic block made up of a circle with a letter or number inside. Here's the tricky part. As I add additional letters or numbers the circle increases in diameter automatically to fully encircle whatever it is I type. The more letters or numbers the larger the circle and the fewer the letters or numbers the smaller the circle?
Or is there a lisp routine for this type of request?
I want to be able to shape the 'vodafone' logo to the lines, so it 'fits' to them. So I was wondering, is there a way to Arc the logo like you can do with text?
i wanted to have the "heartheartheart" follow the beams in both shape and direction. i tried some pathing and warping but it seems like there would be an easier more precise way.
I'm having extreme difficulty in trying to change the shape of a just the Title's solid background shape (proportions). I want to retain the solid background color behind my text to cover up something at the top of a video clip.
For some unexplained reason, the (yellow squares) "resizing handles" do not work properly. The ones in the middle (top and bottom) do not stretch the background shape taller or smaller, but instead they act exactly like the corner (yellow resizing handles)! The middle ones stretch the background proportionately wider (and larger overall) and/or more narrow (less width and smaller overall) instead of how they are supposed to work. Plus, they seem to "snap" to some invisible grid instead of precisely points where I place them to.
Any way to control this very odd behavior that I haven't found? Is there some other workaround to "block-out" something which is across the top of the video clip?
I realize that the "flower of life" symbol is simply aligning circles of the same size. I would like to know the process of how to create this within xara. It is the exact *process* (to make this perfect) that I would like to learn, not necessarily "to create the image". URL....
I have facing some problem in symbol. i;e In a symbol have created three rectangular boxes (rect-1, rect-2 & rect-3)& in main-time line there is three lavel (label 1, label 2 & label 3).
i want to create functionality that is, when i click rect-1 box, i should be play "label 1", when i click rect-2, it should play "label 2" & when i click rect-3 it shuld play "label 3".
I did a brief search in this forum on the Civil 3D 2012 Interactive Shaping Terrain package previewed by Autodesk in January/February 2012, and couldn't find any recent news on this package. Is it going to be released as an add-on sometime soon? Is it already available for download, and I'm simply not aware of it? Here's a link to the latest status of the package from AutoDesk on the issue (dated 2012):
Is there anyway to create a custom weld symbol in inventor? As of right now I am using a sketched symbol from autocad, but i would very much like to get away from this.
I need a bevel weld back gouged then ground flush on the back side. Cant do that as of right now with the inventor.
I have been searching around all morning for a way to create a symbol legend in C3D 2012. Is there a way to create a legend of point sysmbols being used with in a dwg? I could do this manually but that could take a while if I have lots of sysmbols.
I'm running a legit version of Photoshop CS2 on Windows XP. I've had a number of basic functions not work ever since I first installed, such as the Ctrl +/- not working, the [ and ] brush size adjustment funtion not working, the nudge facility of the arrow keys in Move Tool mode not working, and in Text Tool mode, the arrow keys do not move the cursor, but instead create spurious charachters like &'%# etc.
I am trying to create an instance of a symbol at the mouse location when i click - anywhere on stage. I think it should be something like the following:
//stage on.click function
// Create an instance element of a symbol as a child of the // given parent element //premade code: var mySymbolObject = sym.createChildSymbol("Symbol_1", "ParentElement1"); var mySymbolObject = sym.createChildSymbol("Symbol_1", "Mouse");
This doesn't work of course because the mouse isn't a symbol.
