Is a stroke something that I can produce? If yes, how do I do that?

I have a project with many different blocks of text, and colors changing from letter to letter within words.
How do I identify what any given color is?
When I click on a letter, it shows me a visual block of the color, but doesn't tell me what the corresponding color number is.
Problem being, if I see one letter and want to take its color to use it elsewhere, I have no way of knowing what that color is.
In the last few months I have had problems outlining letters. I think it began when I upgraded from Draw 12 to x5. When printing the project, outlining isn't complete on the corners of the letters. The fill of the letter and a small amount of white appear at all 90 degree areas. Curved letters do not have the problem. I will give you an example.
Letter Fill black
Outline Color Pink
On all corners, there is black & white exposed instead of solid pink.
I am looking for the best way to carry this out. I have a drawing which I have scanned into my computer. The drawing is of one big shape made up of random, interlocking shapes - something like a jigsaw. Each of the shapes I want to be filled with different, single words.
I think cutting out each shape one at a time, filling with text then re piecing together may be the best option?
I should say that nothing of the original drawing needs to stay in the finished image, it's really just the shapes I am after so piecing them back together in a new document could be an option.
There seems to be another issues with fonts in CorelDraw X6.
I was trying different fonts for a design and for some fonts (at least two), letters (and other characters) were substituted for the preceding letter in the alphabet. For example "b" would become "a", making the text gibberish.
It happened with one Opentype font and with one TrueType font. [URL]

I am tryng to create a nautical letter Y symbol. It is a yellow square with red diagonal lines inside it.
I have started with a yellow square then created red lines above and then tried every permutation of the Shape tool, but I cannot crop the red lines to fit inside the boundaries of the yellow square. I have tried with the yellow square on top and under the red lines, but every one of the shape tools seems to either cut a shape out of the yellow square or cut the middle out of the red lines instead of cutting the red lines off around the inner edge of the yellow square. (I hope I am making myself understood). I don't want to have to shape each line individually to fit within the boundaries of the yellow square.
(I tried to upload the cdr file for someone to try but it was 393kb and this forum would not let me upload more than 256kb.)

View 12 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to create a custom stroke that doesn't scale to the length of the line you assign it to? I am trying to create a stroke that looks like a chain but when I create a custom brush, I have to almost create the brush pattern the same length as the stoke it gets applied to in order to avoid the chain links bunching up or being grossly stretched out along the assigned path.
Is there a setting or some other function that can accomplish this? Is there an easy way to assign a shape to along a path other than blend?
In the end I want to be able to assign a premade pattern to a line without that pattern being distorted or scaled along the path it is assigned to.
When I go to change the thickness of an artistic media stroke, it jumps up from .045 to .095 or down to 0.3, or similar sorts of jumps in either direction, when I want to make finer adjustments than that. I'm surprised that a program that has so many options and precise ways of doing things wouldn't allow that. Is there no way to accomplish that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCan you apply tranparency to a stroke made by artistic media? his seems like it should be possible... I've been told to use the transparency tool for my type of transparency needs... but I can't find a way to get this to work. It would be handy... in PS, you just adjust the transparency slider for the object or layer. In Draw, how is this done specifically for an artistic media brush stroke?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile, while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.

How do I outline a letter or a number? For example, I have a black, arial font, 200 pt number 5. I would like to put a thin outline of another color, say red, around it. I have tried making a larger number 5 on a different layer and placing it under the smaller number but that gives me more of a drop shadow effect which is not what I am looking for.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI rebuild old wood working tools and frequently have a need to reproduce the original decals found on these machines. My normal procedure is to take a photo of the decal in high res, import it into gimp then use the tools available to "copy" the image onto another layer(s) in very high res. This produces a nice decal that I can then use on my machines.
The problem I am having however is that most of the lettering on these decals isn't quite a normal font. I can normally find something close, but then I need some way to stretch or otherwise modify individual letter so the fit exactly the text being copied.
When using MText, how does one change the spacing in between the letters?
