I am trying to re size my text layer so that the borders would align with the edges of the text, but every time I adjust the upper part of the layer the text itself would shift downward, cutting off the lower part of the text. Is there a way I can conveniently adjust the layer so that it looks like the text fits the layer.
Example I am trying to achieve is something like this.
The problem I keep getting is this.
I have city maps from various sources with color-coded information. I'd like to align these maps on top of each other (as layers) as automatically as possible. The maps might have different scales and may vary in details. I'm hoping that some "edge extraction" and "overlap matching" can automate this task.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy can't I align a single layer that is inside a layer group? The align tool would always select the top most layer group as the 'boundary' for alignment, thus automatically selecting the whole layers inside of it and align them as a group.
Is this a bug or just GIMP's weakness? It definitely reduces the layer group's usefulness.
How do I make the edges of the top layer blend in with the bottom layer so you cannot tell that there is a line??? I want to make it look like a heart but I don't know how to smoothen the edges to make it look like it is part of the bottom layer so when I merge the layers there is no goofy lines looking like someone cropped another fire picture out...

I'm trying to create an action which I will be using for batch processing.
I have an image on which I need to place 3 text layers
The first layer I need to center across the image about 100px from bottom
The second layer I need to center across the image about 300px from bottom
The third layer I need to place about 200px in from the right edge and about 600px from bottom
is there any possibility in GIMP to align a text not vertically at the bottom of a text box (there are options for left, right, center and fill but that's only the horizontal alignment). The motivation is, that I change a text in an image quite often and it whould "align itself" if it whould always be aligned at the bottom of the textbox.

To do this I am creating a new image and some default size. I then add the text , set the background colour to black and the text colour to white and create my text.I am using the snap to canvas edge and sit it up in a corner.I then want to resize the who canvas to be the same size as the text block created and save the image. How to do this?I have seen the crop tool and can select the area I want but cant figure out how to save this as a new canvas/image sized only to the size of the text.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a very frustrating glitch when working with *.idw drawings. Whenever I create a new sheet in the drawing, the boarder on several of the other sheets resizes, and which sheets resize as well as the size they change to seems completely random.
For example, I have an 8-sheet drawing. If I go to the last sheet, which is B-sized, and then RMB->New Sheet in the browser, Inventor creates the new sheet just fine. As I go back up and look at all my sheets, the boarder for sheets 1, 2 and 8 (B-size sheets) has been changed to C-sized. Sheet 3, an A-size, has its boarder as a C-size as well. Sheets 4-5 (C-sized) and 6-7 (B-sized) are just fine. I deleted the new sheet, went to sheet 5 instead, and then created the new sheet. This caused different sheets to change to different random boarder sizes.
Regarding Gimp version 2.8.2, I'm posting text to a picture, the trouble is when I highlight and try to resize the text it disappears. The text layer is still on top and the eye is still visable, so the text should be visable.. I have tried different fonts and colors and sizes with no success.

When I resize image, I press shift & alt button. And all image were outline stroked.
I want to create a flat image of the tattoo around my wrist. It seems as soon as i place a photo in Photoshop I cant do anything like that with it. I tried using different layers to place the different photos in, but when I crop one, it crops the entire image.

I need to extract text and font from a text layer. No problem, I thought, with gimp-text-layer-get-text and gimp-text-layer-get-font.
But I find that the original text layer was cropped withplug-in-autocrop-layer. Nevertheless Gimp lets me edit the text with the text edit tool - after a confirmation dialog.
But I can't get the text with script-fu. Is there a way to manage it? There are many files involved.
When you centrally allign text horizontally and vertically in a text box, the text sits slightly high of the centre. Is there any way of setting an action or setting to deal with this rather than adjusting by eye every time?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHappened when I had a second monitor connected to my MacBook Pro. When I disconnected, Photoshop didn't scale to fit the screen of my laptop. Even when I reconnected the second monitor the grey Photoshop background is still extended beyond the beyond the bottom of the monitor. I can't grab with my mouse. How do I resize this so it fits back within the limits of my monitor? And when switching back to MacBook what is there a way to have Photoshop resize to fit within the screen?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI made a wax seal on Photoshop with a lot of embossment, bedevilment and a Smart Filter. It's done and I just need to make it smaller so it fits well on my certificate. When I resize it (Ctr + T) It pops up a message that reads:

I click OK and I re-size the layer with free transform, and then hit enter. The Layer is resized but my Smart Filter which creates a wavy affect around the seal is totally distorted.
How do re-size my layer with smart filter without affecting the smart filter aspect of the layer.
I would like to make a composite image with source images making up the various layers (so I can work my magic on each layer indepent of the others). The problem I have is that not all of the images I'm using are to the right scale. What I want to do is resize those layers that are too big. Here's an example...
Let's say I have 5 pictures that I want to use to make one composite image from. The main background layer will be made from an image that is, say 800x600.
Another picture (let's call this subject 1) is 600x600 and is already at the right scale if I cut out the portion I want to keep and lay it on top of the background layer.
Yet another picture (subject 2) is huge (think 2000x2000). I would like to cut out the portion I would like to use and drop it in as a new layer and then obviously re-size it down to the correct scale. I'd prefer to do this directly in the composite image I'm making on its own layer to ensure I get the size right (and without manipulating the image guess-work style before I cut/paste it in).And so on...
I've found ways to make the canvas bigger (not what I want to do)... but not anything on how to resize the images on individual layers without impacting the other layers. Is there a way to do this?
I've been using GIMP for about a month now and still learning different things about it everyday. I know how to do borders and frames, but personally, I don't like the ones they have on GIMP. They're kind of bland and boring. Is there anyway you can download new frames and/or borders?

I have a company logo with a white background. I want to make the white backgound dissapear(become transparent) and than create a white border around the graphics in the image. After this editing I will take this edited image and place it on top of a larger image and it will some "pop" and not blend in.
