View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently started trying to learn how to use GIMP through making signatures, and for the past 2 weeks or so, it has been going fine.
Today, when attempting to resize the large image down to signature size, even though the preview shows a good quality render, after it scales the image loses all quality. Whats more, thinking it might just be a poor image, I tried to resize previously succesful images and got the same bad result.
Here are some screenshots showing pre / post scale [URL]...
Preview there is fine, and shows a good quality render (exactly what I'm looking for)

This is the result
I understand that the aspect box is unticked, but even with that selected the image became distorted
I have also tried cubic / Sinc, both resulting in blurry picture.
The most frustrating thing is that the preview shows that the picture can be made that small and retain it's quality, and up until now this has not been an issue.
I have a JPG file with 6 images and I'd like to split it and save each image as a separate JPG. I've tried using the slice tool but then I can't find how to save those images in more than 72 dpi (the original resolution is 300).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an image that's 800x16. Basically it's a horizontal strip of 16x16 tiles. I would like to chop the image up so that I have 50, 16x16 image files. Any suggestion on how to do this automatically?
I've tried recording a Photoshop Action... but I run into a problem when I have to make my selection box over by 16 pixels to process the next tile.
There's a couple of image-splitting applications I've found on the internet, and they are all buggy and crash, and they are tailored towards HTML output... which I don't need. I need more image options.
I was wondering if there was a way to separate an image into its individual colors by layers? all reds in one layer, blues in another, greens in another and that sort of thing.

I have a project with many different blocks of text, and colors changing from letter to letter within words.
How do I identify what any given color is?
When I click on a letter, it shows me a visual block of the color, but doesn't tell me what the corresponding color number is.
Problem being, if I see one letter and want to take its color to use it elsewhere, I have no way of knowing what that color is.
I have always been able to print (FIT TO PAGE) 8.5 X 11 (LETTER SIZE) PHOTOS in PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS! I recently downloaded version 10 and it will not print full page photos. How to achieve printing full size page photos with no white borders around the photo in version 10!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a set of Lightroom Print templates that I am trying to use, that are all for a 4x6 print. I can't get it to work because my page setup in the print module defaults to letter size. When I go in and change the page setup, it messes up the template and it gets all jumbled. Then when I go on to the next template, it switches back to letter size again. I want to create and hold a 4x6 canvas so these templates can either be saved to a 4x6 .jpg or printed on 4x6 paper. I know I can save a printer and page layout as part of a template by clicking the "update settings" once I have it all as i want it, but I can't even get that far because it messes up the template as soon as I change the page settings to 4x6. How do I get the canvas to 4x6 on templates that are already created so I can save them as a 4x6 .jpg or print to 4x6 paper?
I even just installed a printer that only prints 4x6 to see, but again, when I change the page layout it completely messes up the template.
I am having problems printing to drawing sizes other then A Size (Letter).
I have scanned through the messages in this Newsgroup and tried everything that I have found, including making sure that I set the properties in a specific order.
No matter what size I specify, the printer spits out the drawing on an A Size piece of paper.

I PMed someone for creating my logo for a FM station project.
I want to add the letter KAPY & the numbers 91.7 to this image to create a logo for a Community Radio Station.
So I assue I need to create a layer to would contain the letters & numbers, correct?
I have already installed the correct font in windows, I will be using.
I just need a square image with a letter on it. Here is what I have done:
1) File - new. 256x256. OK.
2) Click the 'A' button in the toolbox
3) Click 'Use Editor (since nothing seems to work)
4) Drag a rectangle onto my image.
5) Click on the editor
6) Type the letter 'x'
Guess what happens? Absolutely NOTHING! If I type other random letters, the editor disappears. What am I doing wrong? (and why is this so difficult?).
Working with PS7 & on XP.
If I want to have a poster be 30x36" (300 dpi) is it safe to create the file in PS one third it's size (10x12") at 600dpi?
Or do you create it at one third its size at 300dpi & then enlarge it by 300%?
Some of the thumbnails on elements 12 organizer have an error message of "File Size too Large" and are not displaying. All of the photos are jpeg file and are aound 8mb.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I want to print on large paper sizes, e.g. A3 or A2, what is common wisdom:
- Set the paper size in LR and let LR blow the photo up;
- Edit a copy in PS and use the PS Size command to blow it up.
I mean if the magnifier routine in LR is the same as in PS one would expect the same result, right?

I have to send files for commerical ads for review to clients via email and even set at "low" for an 8.5 x 11 page the size of the file is 25mg as opposed to 33.7 for "high". The jpg file set a high quality is only 4mg. Is there an issue with the PDF format on PSE 11 (didn't have this problem until I upgraded)?

I have to reduce 4 very large TIF files [each one is about 250MB!] to a more manageable size to stitch together and apply as a watermark. They seem to have been taken at about 1.5km above the ground and are very high resolution at 8000x8000.
I still want to retain reasonable resolution at about 250m above the ground so my question is what is the best way to reduce each down?
Would I resizing them in actual size as well as reducing dpi?
I need to prepare a very simple poster (one color for back ground and one for the font, no further editing at all) but it has to be around 50x50inch size which is big. I have never worked with such a large images before hence my question.
When I click 'new' and then set print size to 50x50 and 150ppi resolution the file size is around 250mb. Does it really have to be this big? It seems like my laptop cant handle files this big.
Is there some way around it? Vectors? Inscape?
My laptop is Hp Pavilion g6 Core i3
