GIMP :: Gap Move Path Error - Out Of Framerange With RGB Okay / Lots Of Duplicate Frames
Oct 28, 2011
Windows XP/Sp3 - Gimp 2.6.10 - Gap 2.6
I readily admit that I have another thread open where I mention this issue. However, that thread mainly addresses another issue. The problem that I address, here, is holding up progress on the other and I believe it to be unique enough to warrant an independent thread. Here's what is going on:
-I am attempting to have text travel along a path.
-I am using the proper procedure to save the background frame as _000001. and duplicating way more frames than I am using path points.
-I am using the proper procedure to create my text letters in a separate source image.xcf file.
-My RGB settings match up.
-I am activating the background layer in _00001.
-I am using the proper move path procedures and operator settings.
-My From and To frame assignments are less than the number of frames.
-Whenever I Refresh, or OK, the move path function, I get a Move Path Message stating the selected path points are different than the number of frames and I either need to adjust the number of path points I am using, or change the number of frames.
I have spent hours researching this. The only two issues I see mentioned are to make sure that the RGB's match up and that I am using the background layer of the _00001 file.I see that there was a patch for this condition on early versions of Gimp/Gap. I wonder if it could be reoccurring.

I want to animate using video frames as guidelines in photoshop. Is there a way I can
1) Import a video file as frames/ layers
2) Easily do paintovers of each frame on separate layers
Obviously I can just insert the video frames as single layers and create a new layer over the top of each frame and do a paintover however this is a long process.
IMPORTANT I want to beable to see the last frames paintover with the new frame underneath so I can see what I just painted while still using the current video frame as reference. Is there some way to do this easily in photoshop as the animation panel is rubbish
I want to achieve something like this [URL]
HOWEVER, this guys has literally traced the frames, I need to use the previous paintover in conjunction with the new frame as reference. I am not tracing as such
I need to use the photoshop tools, I dont know if photoshop is the best software to use.

I need to cut a part of one path and paste it as a part of another path. Is there a way in GIMP for doing this? Currenty, all what I can do is to select required anchors of the source path. Then, all I can do with this selection is moving it as a whole. The commands "Copy path" and "Paste path" ignore selection and work with entire path.

It would be nice if there was a way to import all the Move Path settings for a project from an Excel-type spread sheet. It would reduce the irksome data input errors that I seem to make all too often. Plus, you could use the power of the spreadsheet to calculate different points/frames.

there's nothing in that dropdown menu for you to select your source image/layer in the Move Path plugin.I am using an XCF (Gimp) file, with many layers. I selected a particular layer, then I opened the Move Path plugin.

Is there an easy way to duplicate a single rendered frame to create multiple frames for use in creating a video file?
I have a part of an animation that closes with the client's logo. I'm going to hold the animation on the logo for 5 seconds. So I need to make many copies of the same frame, while keeping the naming sequence of the images proper for use in Video Post.

I down loaded a movie from a COOLPIX AW100 camera to PRO X4, it is a *.mov file, in AVC, MPG4, 29.97 frames/sec format.
When I ran it, it appeared to be jumpy, so I when went frame by frame, I noticed there were duplicate frames at the points were the hesitation occurred.
I have no problems with my FZ100 clips in H246/MPG4 .
A strange thing happens when I view it in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER, it has NO duplicate frames, and appears smooth.

I just started using GIMP the other day, and it's great; I've already gotten the hang of layers and moving stuff around! But sometimes, after I put together a part of an image using multiple layers, I'd like to move that part somewhere else to give me more room or to put it next to something else. Is there a way to do this without going through each of the layers, selecting the part, and moving the part to its destination layer by layer?

I'm trying to create a nice example of a paintscheme. In order to do this correctly I need to cut lots of pieces from a picture taken from the original truck end make them in to several layers.
Now I have done this, as you can see here, not very well. There are a lot of lines that aren't cut very nice and smooth. Most of this cuts I did with the scissors tool. The tank I cut with the path tool.
What is the best way to cut pieces from images?
ps the coloured pieces are experimental

PS:Cs6So, I have done this ...
1. Radial Gradient on the BG layer > Duplicated the layer then Transformed it down for a "Floor" effect
2. Added a Mask then painted to fade the duplicated layer into the BG layer
3. Opened the Paths panel > Clicked the New Path icon > Pen tool (set to shape as I assumed it should be because I tried it set to Path and down the line it didn't pan out) I drew the basic shape for my project (which is to be a camera)
4. Copied a Leather Texture from a different document and Pasted it on to the Same Layer (ie: I didn't create a NL)
5. Added an Adjustment layer > set the HSL's
6. Copied the basic (camera) path and placed it on top of the leather texture (layer)
7. Selected the Texture and the Adjustment layers > Ctrl+G > Layer > Vector Mask > Current Path
Below is where I am stuck
8. I am suppose to Duplicate the Path of the Camera ... but ... when I drag the Path down to the Create New Path Icon ... or attempt to Duplicate the Path by Any means and then perform the next step which is:
9. go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color ... either the color will fill just the shape of the camera or it fills the entire layerwhen the camera does fill with a color I cannot get the next step to work which is:
10. Add a Rectangle Shape and Modify its shape > set the Rectangle to Subtract ... Well, the Rectangle is NOT Subtracting
I know this because the leather is not showing through the color So, all in all I suppose I am asking how I should Best go about DUPLICATING a PATH ... ??? I mean, do I ... need to copy the path into an other component? An other layer? Should I be using NL where I am not using NL's?

The new ability to allow duplication of an adjustment brush marker is great, but I can't seem to find a way to place/move the duplicate. It seems to just get dropped right overtop of the original which makes it completely indistinguishable. Seems the only way to access the original marker(s) underneath is to delete the one(s) on top. Am I missing something?

Is there any way in photoshop or with a 3rd party plug-in to duplicate an object on a layer along a path so that it conforms to the orientation and possibly deforms accordingly? I'm working on a fish scale texture that has scales of varying size that flow in different directions depending on the location on the body. As of right now I've crudely grid warped a tiling fish scale matte I made to define how I want the scales to flow. I'm using this as a guide as I individually place each scale.

So, I use many of the same brushes. If I copy a path from a file that uses a certian brush to another file that uses the same brush, I get a duplicate of the brush in the brush panel.
Can I stop this from happening?

Basically, I have an open AI document and would like to duplicate its artboard and then move it to a new position(X axis, 50pixels away from the original). Doesn't seem too hard, but I can't figure it out. This is for CS5.
var docRef = app.activeDocument;
var abSrc = docRef.artboards[0];
var abSrcX = abSrc.artboardRect[0];
[Code]...
Taking that into account if I add (1224 + 144) to abSrcX and abSrxW it creates another artboard 2" away from the previous at 17" x 11". If I want to run it again, I just to add (1224 + 144) to abSrcX and abSrxW again. Now to figure out how to do this dynamically on the fly.

I know this is the Photoshop section, but no one is on After Effects, I just got After Effects CS5, and I am using the new Rotobrush tool, but when ever I move the thing around that scrolls through the frames, my Rotobrush selections disappear, and I have to start over again. I have attached a couple pictures of my problem.

Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?

Today when I was attempting to make some gifs in Photoshop, I ran into a problem. When I load the video and then create the frames, either all of the frames are black or only half of the screen (within the video) shows up. I am attempting to use videos in the Windows Media Player format which has worked in the past for me and even videos that I have used to make gifs before are not working. I have also updated Photoshop to the most recent version and am running Photoshop CS6. URL....

So, I have a layer which I made a rounded rectangle and then used ctrl + alt + t to transform and set it to 30 degrees and used alt + drag on the transformation pivot point
then I used ctrl + alt + shift + t to duplicate the rounded rectangle around that point and then ... I relocated this layer above an other layer w/a circle on it and used ctrl + alt + g to create a clipping mask
Now ... is where I am stuck ...
I'm suppose to "split each path into a separate layer" .... um. what?
Okay, I realize that each of the rounded rectangles has its own path ... but how to go about putting each one on a separate layer and I cannot find it in the manual

what I want is to set the frames separately and not globally, as it is provided when saving the GIF image.
So, is there any tool to set the delay between the frames but separately?
E.g. I have two frames, let's say f1 and f2, what I want is a delay 10 secs (10k ms) between the f1 and f2, and then a delay 10 ms between f2 and f1.

I would like to add "frames" to some of the graphics I'm using on a website. The frame I want is really just a white border of 8 or 10 pixels on each of the four sides; the pictures will all be rectangles.
I tried doing a frame like this in Gimp 2.8 (in Windows 8) earlier today and couldn't think of a way to do this very easily. I thought about drawing a white line along the edge of each side of the rectangle but didn't know a good way to draw a straight line of the desired thickness exactly where I want it. I thought about using the eraser to turn the edges white but that seemed clumsy.
