Lightroom :: How To Place / Move The Duplicate

Sep 17, 2013

The new ability to allow duplication of an adjustment brush marker is great, but I can't seem to find a way to place/move the duplicate. It seems to just get dropped right overtop of the original which makes it completely indistinguishable. Seems the only way to access the original marker(s) underneath is to delete the one(s) on top. Am I missing something?

Lightroom :: Can't Manually Move To Sample From Another Place

Photoshop :: Duplicate Shape In Place

Jul 27, 2012

I have been reading the manual but I am also still trying tuts because I learn better when I do things as well as read. So, here's todays dilemma

I made the Shape with no problem and used the Pen tool set to shape. The only way I have been able to find to Duplicate a Shape (and/or Path) in the user manual is to select the Path Selection tool (the black arrow) from the tools panel and use Alt + Drag

however, (as you can see) I need the Shape to stay in the same place - so, I tried to drag it back into place - but the Duplicate moves with the original Shape and when I go to change the color - the color changes both shapes ... ? Also, how do I know if I have Duplicated the Path or the Shape?

Because once (we) I figure out how to Duplicate the Shape & change the color of just the duplicate I then need to Duplicate Just the Path. The tut says to set the Duplicated Path Mode to Subtract but it doesn't make sense to me - it would seem that the Mode should be set to Subtract beforehand.

AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Duplicate In Place

Mar 13, 2012

Is there a way to duplicate in place?  I have a instance where I am using a lot of subtractions and I want to have multiple copies of objects in the exact same position.  I am finding that when I do copy I often snap to the object but the direction for depth relative to the view I am in ends up being different.  Example being I have a 2" Diameter circle extrude that I want to be 120" long.  I created that.  I want a copy of it in the same position.  I am looking from the front so all I see is the circle.  I select copy and grab the center point and snap to the centerpoint.  Now I have its zero at the other's 120" mark.  I am hoping I could just run a duplicate command, but I cannot seem to find that.

Illustrator Scripting :: How To Duplicate Artboard And Move It Relative To Original

Oct 23, 2013

Basically, I have an open AI document and would like to duplicate its artboard and then move it to a new position(X axis, 50pixels away from the original). Doesn't seem too hard, but I can't figure it out. This is for CS5.

var docRef = app.activeDocument;
var abSrc = docRef.artboards[0];
var abSrcX = abSrc.artboardRect[0];

[Code]...

Taking that into account if I add (1224 + 144) to abSrcX and abSrxW it creates another artboard 2" away from the previous at 17" x 11". If I want to run it again, I just to add (1224 + 144) to abSrcX and abSrxW again. Now to figure out how to do this dynamically on the fly.

GIMP :: Gap Move Path Error - Out Of Framerange With RGB Okay / Lots Of Duplicate Frames

Oct 28, 2011

Windows XP/Sp3 - Gimp 2.6.10 - Gap 2.6

I readily admit that I have another thread open where I mention this issue. However, that thread mainly addresses another issue. The problem that I address, here, is holding up progress on the other and I believe it to be unique enough to warrant an independent thread. Here's what is going on:

-I am attempting to have text travel along a path.
-I am using the proper procedure to save the background frame as _000001. and duplicating way more frames than I am using path points.
-I am using the proper procedure to create my text letters in a separate source image.xcf file.
-My RGB settings match up.
-I am activating the background layer in _00001.
-I am using the proper move path procedures and operator settings.
-My From and To frame assignments are less than the number of frames.
-Whenever I Refresh, or OK, the move path function, I get a Move Path Message stating the selected path points are different than the number of frames and I either need to adjust the number of path points I am using, or change the number of frames.

I have spent hours researching this. The only two issues I see mentioned are to make sure that the RGB's match up and that I am using the background layer of the _00001 file.I see that there was a patch for this condition on early versions of Gimp/Gap. I wonder if it could be reoccurring.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Can't Move Cut Out Purse To New Picture To Place It On?

Sep 28, 2012

Imagine working with a photo of a purse that has a handle. The handle is upright letting you see background space above and below the strap. I need to cut the purse, strap included, from the rest of the picture. Then I have to save it on its own. I am not moving the cut out purse to a new picture to place it on.

How do I do this? Is there something that has to be done to the picture first, (bachground, layer, etc.) before even selecting the right PCS6 tool? What is the best tool to use?

Photoshop Elements :: Move Categories From Keyword Tag To Event / Place / People Tags

Oct 1, 2013

I just upgraded to PSE 12. So now all my organisation folders are under the "keyword" tag. And I have a lot of them. Of course they are organized in folder/subfolders. And the main ones are "places" "events". The same as the default ones in pse.

So is it possible to move categories/directories from the keyword tag to event/place/people tags (drag and drop doesn't work).

Lightroom :: Duplicate Raw Files In LR5

Nov 8, 2013

I have just recently started seeing something strange in my lightroom 5 library.  There are two copies of some of my CR2 files.  One copy is the original import, such as flower.cr2.  This file has none of my edits, just the import.  The second copy is called flower-2.cr2.  This file has import and all of my edits.

When I originally edited the flower file, there was only the original.  Most of my photos are as they should be, with just one CR2 file that includes the import and all of my edits.what could be going on with my library/catalog?

Lightroom :: Won't Identify Even One Duplicate Image

Nov 13, 2007

I have recently undertaken to run a serious test of LR 1.2--as I did with previous versions-- to see if it was at the stage of development where it would improve my workflow over my present applications. Most everything is much better than before, but I have discovered a killer bug.

I work in a group of four other photographers. We are constantly mixing and matching images from our various DBs/shots for client presentations, frequently mixing shots already in a DB with some that are recent and not yet DBed In the end, of course, we want one DB that incorporates all our collective images. This arrangement lends itself to imports that often will contain duplicates of given, uniquely identified, images.

I discovered that even with the box checked to not import duplicates, that LR is hopelessly inconsistent in stopping the import of absolutely identical files with absolutely identical names, extensions, metadata, etc.

As a test, I imported a set of 50 images--various formats, etc--all of which were in LR already. I ran the test three times. The first test resulted in LR identifying 3 dups, the second test 17 dups, and the third 13 dups. I also tried this test using images that were in two separate LR catalogues--identical in every respect. LR did not identify even one duplicate image of the fifty in this case.

Lightroom :: How To Merge Catalogs With Duplicate Images

Nov 20, 2011

I have two machines running LR3, a mac laptop and a windoze desktop. Both are using local disk and a central NAS. All files use sidecar (XMP) files.

Frequently I'll copy my pictures directory over to the NAS to back it up or, if I'm upgrading the big windoze box, I'll copy it's images over to the NAS in a different directory. I've also been known to prune the local folders since I know they're backed up and because I need the space for a project. This creates a situation where one folder on the NAS may have duplicate subfolders (say "2008 May") same as the notebook but may also have folders (say "2008 November") that don't exist on the notebook.

I could live happily with this mess except that now I want to make one big master catalog of ALL the images on the NAS, minus the duplicates. In other words, I want to clean stuff up.

If I just import the photos (as opposed to the catalog) I get the duplicates removed but then I lose all the collection sets and previews. If I import the catalogs then I get the collections and previews but I also get duplicates.

What I want is either a tool, or a means in LR3 to eliminate (or merge) the duplicates.

It could be an external file utility that compares two directories and eliminates the duplicates (followed by a LR3 catalog cleanup of missing files) or a way to import the catalogs, remove the duplicate entries and then export as a single file structure.

Lightroom :: 4.1 Creating Duplicate Directory References

Jul 28, 2012

I keep recreating my directory tree to fix this, but LR keeps recreating a folder with the same name as my import folder. So imagine my overall structure is:

Mac Hard Drive
   LR Photos
      Many folders, including ...
      Imports
---

LR will create a new directory reference at the top of the list of directories, in lowercase. So at the top of the directory list, you'll see, after an import ...

   lr photos    (note lowercase)
       Imports

I'm attaching a screenshot ... (with lots of folder names deleted obviously)

It seems like it's related to the import process, but i never manually type or change during imports -- i leave it alone, and yet it makes this new lowercase reference. (it does not actually create new folders on the hard drive.)

The folder is in a hierarchy of "2013, March, XXX".

Lightroom creates a folder  here and above 2013! It is making a mess of my library.

Also, when I import using Photo Mechanic (great software that just works!) and then do a "synchronize folder" in Lightroom, only 1 photo is transferred.

Lightroom :: 5.2 (Mac) Is Creating Duplicate Folders When Import Photos

Dec 10, 2013

Lightroom creates new duplicate folders when I import photos.

My directory structure is:

~/Pictures
/Lightroom
/2012
/2012-1
/2012-2
etc.
/2013
/2013-1
/2013-2
etc.

When I import, Lightroom creates a duplicate "Lightroom" folder, which it places into the 2013 folder. Inside that folder it places a duplicate 2013-12 folder and inside that the photos.

Alternatively, it sometimes places the new folder (this time named "lightroom" [lower-case "l"] at the same directory level as the "Lightroom" folder.

Lightroom :: Creating Duplicate Files In Music Folder

Oct 25, 2013

I am using Light room 5..upgraded from 3.Discovered Light room  had been sending images into my music folder called 2013  as well as the  picture folder  I chose as export destination.Editing was showing in both.

I thought this was just virtual copy, not to worry.. until I tried to delete it in my music folder..and the recycle bin found the folder too large and only the option was to delete permanently? Seriously a huge file! (in a very short time) So I did delete folder 2013 ..and another folder was recreated in my music folder (2013)  with the very next edit.

I created a new catalogue “going in the back door of Light room”.. and moved this "music folder" into pictures folder within Light room as well and then clicked the option of always load  this new catalogue on start up. Tried another edit this morning.

If I import a whole folder of mixed RAW and jpeg images, but only edit one. The whole imported selection will be sent to my music folder..and where Lightroom can only find the images.

If I delete this folder and go back to the original RAW file in Light room..a preview of the image cannot be shown in develop module...although the image can be developed.

Plus...the original RAW file is still in the original folder within the  picture folder as well...and the edited picture is in a separate correct picture folder where I intended it to go. So It seems I am duplicating the RAW files into this very mysterious folder as soon as I import them.

Lightroom :: How To Delete Duplicate Drive In Folders Area

Jan 30, 2012

how I ended up with a shared network drive duplicated under the folders area of Lightroom 3.6.  Maybe it was a user error but now my network drive where I have 15,000 pictures appears twice in the folder area and it is constantly updating (since there are quite a few pictures).

How can I delete the duplicated drive?  I have "removed" all the folders under the duplicated drive (and made it disappear) but the drive keeps coming back as the synchronization process will add all the folders that exist on that drive.

The two drives with "Volume_1" in the name are actually one shared network drive (I only have one). I actually removed my network drive mapping (N:) to fix the problem but that did not even work; LR still found a duplicate name for the same network drive and started to synchronize (again).
