GIMP :: Put Text Automatically On X Frames?
Sep 1, 2012Is there a way to put a text automatically on "X" frames? I mean, it's so hard to copy the layer and merge it on aaaaaall frames if a gif has 100, for example.

View 2 RepliesThere's this GIF that I'd like to use for a banner and when I open the file in GIMP, add a text and then check the animation in the playback window, I can only see the text once the GIF has ended but also, I can only see the text for like one second.
Is it possible to make the text visible on all of the frames of the GIF without having to duplicate the text 100s of times and merging them onto each frames?
Is there a way of unlinking the text frames so that you can move the text independently from the others?

edit: to clarify. Like removing every other frame.
I've been using GIMP for about a month now and still learning different things about it everyday. I know how to do borders and frames, but personally, I don't like the ones they have on GIMP. They're kind of bland and boring. Is there anyway you can download new frames and/or borders?
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhat I want is to set the frames separately and not globally, as it is provided when saving the GIF image.
So, is there any tool to set the delay between the frames but separately?
E.g. I have two frames, let's say f1 and f2, what I want is a delay 10 secs (10k ms) between the f1 and f2, and then a delay 10 ms between f2 and f1.
I would like to add "frames" to some of the graphics I'm using on a website. The frame I want is really just a white border of 8 or 10 pixels on each of the four sides; the pictures will all be rectangles.
I tried doing a frame like this in Gimp 2.8 (in Windows 8) earlier today and couldn't think of a way to do this very easily. I thought about drawing a white line along the edge of each side of the rectangle but didn't know a good way to draw a straight line of the desired thickness exactly where I want it. I thought about using the eraser to turn the edges white but that seemed clumsy.

Issue: Imbeded text in Linetype is automatically orienting the top of the text toward the center of the arc. I have tried to "reverse polyline" to fix this, but the text will not change. Is there a line property that I am missing that will allow the text to orient itself as readable from arc Point of begining to the end?
To gimp-user list recipients, I've run into a problem where I cant edit the delay between frames for my .GIF file. Im looking to set it it 41ms for each frame, which Ive done when prompted as I save my file, but the playback speed seems to stay at 100ms delay when I open the finished .GIF. Is it possible Gimp has trouble applying the delay to a high amount of frames? Im used alot of layers, 280 to be exact. The images/layers are from a video I previously converted to PNGs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am not very experienced with gimp yet but I am having trouble viewing each frame of a gif that I imported into gimp. I have the layers box open and it lists each frame (1-42). When I click on different frames in the layers box, the image never changes in gimp. I want to be able to edit each frame individually. I am using version 2.6.8. Here are a few screen shots, and the gif I am trying to edit.

Is there a way to automatically condense text in a one line text box, I have linked text boxes vertically and want to paste a list of names into them, and if a name is too long I want it to condense to the text box.
I know how to do this in print merge with the envelope tool but not in a text box.
two questions photoshop.
1)
How do I make a border with a transparent middle section. So I can use that border for a flash project (picture album etc). I know how to make a border over a picture, I just need to know how to make a border that I can use over any image of my choosing.
2)
How do I make a text only image that is transparent. Lets say I make the word "Home" with a Bevel, how do I keep the word only without the white background? I keep getting the full canvas size (e.g 100X100) with the word Home in the middle (including all the effects I add to the word) on a white background, even when I have set my options to transparent background.
I'm working with InDesign CC. How do I join or link two text frames into one continuous flowing text frame?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAny way to preserve spaces between text boxes or frames, in other words if i designed a template consist of two text boxes the space between the first and the second box is 9.77 mm then i removed some text from the first text box (auto fitting to content) so the height of the first text box will decrease and the space between the two text boxes (9.77 mm) will increase, what i want to do is to fix this space so if any text box decreased in height the other text box lefted up or down to fix this space (9.77 mm).
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I draw a frame, suddenly In-Design has started to put a slightly larger area around it which also repels text. I must have inadvertently invoked this feature somehow, but as I'm not sure what I did to cause it I can't work out how to rid myself of its effect.

I readily admit that I have another thread open where I mention this issue. However, that thread mainly addresses another issue. The problem that I address, here, is holding up progress on the other and I believe it to be unique enough to warrant an independent thread.Here's what is going on:
-I am attempting to have text travel along a path.
-I am using the proper procedure to save the background frame as _000001. and duplicating way more frames than I am using path points.
-I am using the proper procedure to create my text letters in a separate source image.xcf file.
-My RGB settings match up.
-I am activating the background layer in _00001.
-I am using the proper move path procedures and operator settings.
-My From and To frame assignments are less than the number of frames.
-Whenever I Refresh, or OK, the move path function, I get a Move Path Message stating the selected path points are different than the number of frames and I either need to adjust the number of path points I am using, or change the number of frames.
I have spent hours researching this. The only two issues I see mentioned are to make sure that the RGB's match up and that I am using the background layer of the _00001 file.I see that there was a patch for this condition on early versions of Gimp/Gap. I wonder if it could be reoccurring.
On a certain number of frames I want "hi" and on another number I want "bye" But the first text is on all the other frames.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust started with CDRX6 (Upgrade) and find a frustrating feature with text in text frames. If you import text into a frame and then move the position of the frame in the layout, the text repositions in a waterfall motion within the frame. It takes a second or two to settle down, and the frame also jumps position somewhere else en route before reaching the point you are dragging it to. It can be moved more smoothly using the arrow keys, but that is painfully slow.
I do not have this problem with X5. Is it a symptom of some new feature in X6, or is it a fault in installation?
I opened ImageReady--->Import Folder as Frames---->20 jpeg frames come up voila!
Then select all frames, open Text Tool, start typing word into Frame #1 and and now finished go to Optimize tab and only Frame #1 has text.
From the File>New I take the A4 - 1 Column template and then add a side by side page and no page number appear on the right page.
If I then add text so that it overflows the pages 1 and 2 and creates two new ones the left hand one now has page 3 but still no page numbers on the right.
If add text to a single A4 1 Column and overflows it creates a second page with page number as expected, if I then convert it to side by side it has the page number on the right.
My question is why it works in the second method and not with the first, when setting up a new document it is the path one would expect to set the pages as you want first.
Is there any way of showing the text areas (frames) just not when you click in them? as one does to show grids.
I want to evaluate text frames for their x axis and if they are the same shift them slightly because of adobes irritating habit of combining the text frames when it makes a PDF. I have been able to evaluate, but not exactly like I want to but I know it can be done...

my problem is when I try to move text frames. It flies way of the page. I just want to move the text a slight amount and concatenate is the only way I have been successful. my question is: Is there a better way and why is my text flying so far of the page?
I'm trying to fade some text from 100% opacity to 0% over 45 frames, and end my layer when it gets to 0, (Thus making it dissapear?). My text stays there with 0% opacity (Slightly visable), untill the next layer begins.. I don't understand why I can see it when the layer it's on has ended. I preview it with audio using num 0.
This has happened to me multiple times and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Some of my text fades and dissapears normally, but I don't understand what's different about it. I'm probably doing lots wrong, but I'm pretty new and you have to start somewhere! This is also my first post, hope it's in the right forum.
I made this gorgeous table of contents with nice paragraph styles and a text frame on the master page. I put the text in the first frame and that filled my pages as intented. After that I used my paragraphs titles and the table of contents was done. But now I have a problem because I need to change the page order. I'm completely lost cause now my document is a mess. So is it possible to make a table of contents without using connected text frames because I know that I will have to change page order later and I want to avoid the mess I just made?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I create a shape, or envelope and add text it, whatever size of font, there is a 0.06-0.063 inch margin created inside the shape. Is this normal? View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to select all text frames on all visible layers. The script below will select all text frames even in groups but when a layer with text on it is invisible the script will error.(target layer cannot be modified)
if (app.documents.length > 0 ) {
var doc = app.activeDocument;
var numTextFrames = 0;
for ( i = 0; i < doc.textFrames.length; i++ ) {
textArtRange = doc.textFrames[i];
textArtRange.selected = true;

So I made this script to select text frames on only the visible layers but it now misses text that is in a group.
var layerCount = activeDocument.layers.length;
var docSelected = activeDocument.selection;
for (i = 0; i < layerCount; i++)

Why it does not selected textframes in a group when done this way and is there a way to get all textframes selected on all visible layers?
Is it possible to have Gimp remember your settings from one invocation to the next? I get kinda tired of changing the pencil width from 20 pixels to 1 pixel each time I start it.
