GIMP :: Viewing / Changing Frames From Imported GIF?
Mar 10, 2013
I am not very experienced with gimp yet but I am having trouble viewing each frame of a gif that I imported into gimp. I have the layers box open and it lists each frame (1-42). When I click on different frames in the layers box, the image never changes in gimp. I want to be able to edit each frame individually. I am using version 2.6.8. Here are a few screen shots, and the gif I am trying to edit.
Any quick / clever / automated way of selected the container frame you get on imported items (and sometimes other elements) in illustrator (eg. cut and paste from indesign) and deleting it.
This frame can be selected by its points (usually i just swipe a corner point and press delete to get rid of the frame)
For some reason the time ruler is displaying frames and not seconds. I have tried cycling through the various time modes by ctrl clicking it as well as modifyign it in file->project settings, yet seconds will not show up on the time ruler. Please view the image below. I have also tried resetting the work space to standard default with no result.
I just want to draw some simple animations, and I was thinking of using the layers as frames, like with gif creation. I know you can use pageup and page down to quickly shift focus from one layer to the next, but is there a way to only have the current layer visible without having to mess with the visbility toggle for each layer?
Whenever I mport a part it has the welding texture applied to it. Where can I change it to so I don't have go around and select the faces to clear them. Changing the material has no effect on removing the texture.
Downloaded Gimp last night, and when I opened up to view the images, I see only a list, not thumbnails. Gotta have thumbnails to see what exactly I'm looking at, regardless whether the images are named or numbered. don't Gimp have that option to change the viewing mode, like Windows?
I want to change the size of the image in Gimp to 3957x4429 px (67x75 cm) at a 150dpi (the image we have has a 300 dpi.) When i do this in image - print size it keeps changing the width.
The system is not allowing me to get the picture a few cm larger. Is there any way I can overwrite this?
I've been using GIMP for about a month now and still learning different things about it everyday. I know how to do borders and frames, but personally, I don't like the ones they have on GIMP. They're kind of bland and boring. Is there anyway you can download new frames and/or borders?
Is there a way to put a text automatically on "X" frames? I mean, it's so hard to copy the layer and merge it on aaaaaall frames if a gif has 100, for example.
I would like to add "frames" to some of the graphics I'm using on a website. The frame I want is really just a white border of 8 or 10 pixels on each of the four sides; the pictures will all be rectangles.
I tried doing a frame like this in Gimp 2.8 (in Windows 8) earlier today and couldn't think of a way to do this very easily. I thought about drawing a white line along the edge of each side of the rectangle but didn't know a good way to draw a straight line of the desired thickness exactly where I want it. I thought about using the eraser to turn the edges white but that seemed clumsy.
To gimp-user list recipients, I've run into a problem where I cant edit the delay between frames for my .GIF file. Im looking to set it it 41ms for each frame, which Ive done when prompted as I save my file, but the playback speed seems to stay at 100ms delay when I open the finished .GIF. Is it possible Gimp has trouble applying the delay to a high amount of frames? Im used alot of layers, 280 to be exact. The images/layers are from a video I previously converted to PNGs.
There's this GIF that I'd like to use for a banner and when I open the file in GIMP, add a text and then check the animation in the playback window, I can only see the text once the GIF has ended but also, I can only see the text for like one second.
Is it possible to make the text visible on all of the frames of the GIF without having to duplicate the text 100s of times and merging them onto each frames?
I am working on a GIF and I want to change the brightness, saturation settings etc but it seems that I have to edit the frames one by one, which is extremely tedious. Is there a faster way to do this?
How do I keep my GIFs the same colors as I created them? When I import the GIFs into GIMP the colors are changed on some of them. Are there different types of GIF (color resolutions)?
The attached GIF should have a gray border but in GIMP the border is yellow, other colors are changed too. The "PS" letters should be purple-pink but GIMP changes them to black, basically all the colors change.
I am trying to create an animated GIF and the GIFs are imported as layers
I've noticed the problem GIFS have a lower case file extension (.gif) whereas the OK images have an upper case file extension.GIF
It's OK I can simply open the lower case .gifs in MS Paint and then "save_as" which saves them as an UPPERCASE .GIF file extension and then GIMP doesn't change the colors. Problem solved but it is odd that it occurred in the first place. I wonder what was happening?
OH NO... it is still changing the colors. I think I will just do a screen grab and save that as a completely new GIF which stops the colors changing but it is a big hassle because I have about 9 images to change.
NO I STILL CAN'T FIX IT How can I stop GIMP changing the colors of imported GIF layers in a GIF animation?
Just downloaded GIMP on Vista and tried to import a PDF file that I need to work on. I got the file into the Import (?) window, clicked on Import and the program whirred away for a while but I can't see or find the file - there's just a blank window.
How can I find my file to work on it? Do I need to load it into GIMP in a special way?
I readily admit that I have another thread open where I mention this issue. However, that thread mainly addresses another issue. The problem that I address, here, is holding up progress on the other and I believe it to be unique enough to warrant an independent thread. Here's what is going on:
-I am attempting to have text travel along a path. -I am using the proper procedure to save the background frame as _000001. and duplicating way more frames than I am using path points. -I am using the proper procedure to create my text letters in a separate source image.xcf file. -My RGB settings match up. -I am activating the background layer in _00001. -I am using the proper move path procedures and operator settings. -My From and To frame assignments are less than the number of frames. -Whenever I Refresh, or OK, the move path function, I get a Move Path Message stating the selected path points are different than the number of frames and I either need to adjust the number of path points I am using, or change the number of frames.
I have spent hours researching this. The only two issues I see mentioned are to make sure that the RGB's match up and that I am using the background layer of the _00001 file.I see that there was a patch for this condition on early versions of Gimp/Gap. I wonder if it could be reoccurring.
I've got an image I'm trying to make my wallpaper thats a 1024 x 768 image. My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050 so if I use the image and use the "fill" option to have the image fit my background perfectly it won't fit and some stuff gets cut off. I have to use the "fill" option instead" of "fit" which gives it borders kind of like of how I want because I'm rotating wallpapers and this is the only one that doesn't work under "fill"
What I want to do is just import my image into gimp and then add some paint on the right and left outside the image to make it wider so it would fit as my background without some stuff getting cut out.
Is there a way to import an image into gimp and then add some paint outside the image and then save the new image with the paint outside the original image onto my hard drive?
I have a PSD made in Phoshop. In this file I have layers named button which has a blue gradient color:
1. Created a round rectangle tool. 2. Under styles menu, I chose another style which I downloaded from the web (n ASL file).
The problem is that in GIMP I can't see the colors in the layers and only see the base style which is black and white. Wandering in the web I have downloaded the three scripts from [URL] ... into the plug-ins directory of GIMP, but still it looks like I can't import an ASL file into GIMP.
The weird thing is that opening the PSD in a simple picture viewer (Gwenview) I can see the colors perfectly but I obviously can't work with the layers.
You can see in the attached files a snapshot of the picture as supposed to be (orig.jpg) and as seen in Gimp (gimped.jpg)
I've been using Gimp for sometime now. It's a fantastic program, but I thought the area where it lacked the mostwas the brushes. It only came with a few basic brushes, and you often hadto download extra packs for that something extra. This in itself wasn't ahuge deal, although if you had brush sets more like those of PaintTool SAIor MyPaint, that would be really great. Those program don't have as much asGimp, but they have some really great brushes, which makes them fun to drawin.
My bigger concerns is adding your own brushes to Gimp via imported brushpacks. While you say you integrate all files, the brush manager is lacking. If I wish to add a few brush packs to see what they do, the brush listquickly becomes clogged. You can't seem to delete brushes without goingback into the brushes folder which you first put them in, and then deletethe files. This also means if you like a few brushes in a pack, but therest of it is useless to you, then you have to have everything, or nothing.
There is a lot to be desired in terms of the brushes, and I hope you canimprove these soon. I stand by Gimp, even though people often call it awatered down version of Photoshop, but Gimp 2.8 has been a hugedisappointment for me.
On a final note, when choosing a new brush, especially for the animatedtexture brushes you include, I think it would be useful if youautomatically went to the brushes native size. This saves time and energy, especially if you are testing out new brushes. MyPaint has this feature, and I have found it incredibly useful. This also means I can just click thebrush a second time to reset it to the default settings.
Previously i`m using version 2009 and importing Google earth image and surface works fine. However, recently i tried with version 2010 and i`m having some problem here (imported surface / contour seems ok but the image is too large like 3x or 4x). How to solve that?
I have a dwg that someone imported and I cannot find where this object is. I have tried searching the database with DBLink, Ideate BIMLink and I have gone into every view to no avail. I also used the reviTTools add-in which says there are no drawings in the file. Am I dealing with a corrupted file? I am super OCD and this is in our Template which makes it an even bigger problem.
I have an image and all I want to do is change it to a different color. So if the image is mostly red, I want to shade it blue but still keep its quality, meaning the light-red pixels will turn light-blue, and the dark-red pixels will turn dark-blue.
I prefer an option that automatically changes all the colors for the entire image, but if there is a shader tool where I have to manually shade the image, that'll work too.
I input the image, then I went to Image > Mode > RGB, and from there I went to Colors > Colorize and used the sliders to change the image to the color I want.
just got upgraded to v2.8 and whenever i change desktops the toolbox and layers windows [or is that dialogues?] minimise, the main window doesn't though.
i've tried 'saving current window positions' but it still minimises the windows.
As far as I know there are two ways to set the flow of the brush. Either by enabling or disabling [incremental] option, which, to my understanding, when enabling it - sets the flow to 0%. Let's say I'd like to set the flow to 70% and see how it works. how to do this without knowing nothing about programming and computer code?
how change brushes to paint in colour. I have downloaded quite a number and the screen shots before you download them show them in colour but when you go to use them they are all grey scale.
Somebody want me to edit their picture where an orange tank top has to be changed for a dark blue color. That person did provide the specific HTML code # for the color wanted. Once the tank top is selected, how do you manage to colorize it to that very specific HTML color. Unless I'm wrong, "colorize" is the only function that add color to something without losing the detail of the original picture. All other thing you can use to change the color only add a solid opaque color. You can desaturate the tank top, open a new layer and add the specific HTML color to that layer and then reduce the opacity but...even thought the details that were lost are now visible, the color has changed.
Attempting to add text in Gimp 2.8.2. I can do everything I need (size, font, etc) except I can not get the color to change. When I change color, the text does turn a light grey, but it doesn't change color.
Here is a quick video I made with Jing showing my problem. You can see in the video that font selection changes and sizes changes, though.
