Oct 26, 2012Is it possible to select a center point to work from, rather than an edge? (i.e. not rectangular select)
And tell it to keep an aspect ratio?

GIMP :: Cropping Edge From Old Map?
Mar 7, 2012I need to crop the edge (non-map) area from an old map that I scanned for use in QGIS. How do I remove the edge and not have it replaced with white. I need for the new edge to truly be the new edge. I also need to save it as a Tiff. Is it possible to crop and make the outside or background transparent and still save it as a Tiff? I need to georeference my result without any kind of edge beyond the map data.

Photoshop :: Center Point Of Circle Different Than Center Point Of Polygon
Apr 5, 2013In Photoshop / Illustrator, when I create a polygon, and rotate it around it's center point it wobbles. When I scribe it inside of a perfect circle, and rotate it around the circle's center point it rotates smoothly. Basically proving that (at least according to these Adobe products) that the center point of a circle is different than the center point of a polygon scribed inside of it.
An image – the dots in the center are the corresponding center points according to Adobe:

This is incorrect according to basic math. Is Adobe aware of this bug?
GIMP :: Select By Color Tool Won't Work Properly?
Jul 13, 2013I'm looking at tutorials on how to add strokes to text (I downloaded it today) and they say to use the color select tool. In their demonstration, when they select text, it has the normal dotted lines around it. For me, when I click it just has a thick border around it and it tells me to move my mouse to change the threshold. It won't select the text, just change the threshold when moving my mouse from left to right.

Nov 15, 2012I need to find a way how to insert a point or a * on the center point of a hole and put it on a different layer. The reason for this is - I am a CAD tech for a welding shop and we cut parts out of steel and we use the dxf file format for our plasma table to cut parts. For example : if i have a 1 inch thick plate and want to put a 3/4'' hole in the plate the hole will be distorted because the hole is smaller than the material thickness. For these situation we can use the plasma table to burn a point or a dot on the center point of the hole. But to do this the point or dot must be on a different layer in the dxf.

1-When you have selected an edge loop, let's say, on a plane, how to select the polygons inside that loop? At the moment I'm using the split tool as a (very bad) workaround.
2-When you have selected some polygons, how to select the edges on the "boudndary"? (kinda the opposite of the above) At the moment I'm using the detach as element and border selection as a (very bad) workaround.
AutoCad :: Select Line Start / End Point That Is Known Distance From OSnap Point?
Jun 9, 2011I'm trying to draw a plan of my house in Autocad 2009 but I seem to be endlessly using trim and extend because I can't easily select the points that I want with osnap. Eg. imagine I have a box, and I want to start drawing another box inside it that has each side as 10 units smaller than the corresponding side on the outer box.
Step 1 - I draw a small line from the top left corner of the big box using the endpoint snap, typing in "5" for the length.
Step 2 - I then do the same at right angles to the first line to get me to the starting point of the inner box. This always leaves me with 2 small lines to remember to delete.
Step 3 - Then in order to draw the top line of the inner box I end up drawing to a random length because I can't say "draw until 5 units away from the right hand side of the big box", then I end up trimming it later once I've repeated steps 1,2 and 3 for the next side of the inner box.
I know in my example above I could have scaled the box down or something but that's not what I'm getting at. I really want a way of selecting line start and end points that are a known position away from an existing point.
Photoshop :: Rounded Rectangle - Select One Point To Select Side
Dec 19, 2012I work with shapes all day designing mobile apps. Thus, I'm constantly selecting and resizing rounded rectangles. When resizing I have to individually select all four points of a side to move it without distorting the rounded corners. I cannot click and drag, because that will activate any shapes underneath the one I want to select.
I'm looking for a plugin or alternative to easily select the entire side of a rounded rectangle. IE - I click one point on a side, and it auto selects all four points on that side, or the like.

Feb 25, 2012I am trying to put several photos on the timeline using overlay tracks. Any taken in portrait layout have large black bars on either side which cover up the other photos on the timeline. I have tried the Crop Borders and cropping effects, but they either don't work as I thought.

Dec 31, 2013When I crop a photo in LR5 or 4 and open it in PS cc, the photo is not opened. If I go back and reset the cropping, then the photo and all edits made are exported and visible in PS cc
That s happening in both LR4 and 5. FURTHERMORE; if the crop is vertical , from a horizontal èpicture, the photo is opened in PS BUT the crop not maintened i.e the original sized photo is shown.

Dec 3, 2007I have a new digital photo frame that displays images at 480 X 234. Is there any easy technique in Photoshop to crop images to this size (or close), without manually drawing a rectangular marquee and trying to guess at it's size? Is there any way to draw a 480 X 234 pixel rectangle and then position it over the photo, then crop to the rectangle? Any suggestions would be appreciated, since I have about 500 pictures that I want to put on a memory card for Christmas.

Apr 26, 2012I have a movie of an object (actually a fly) moving left to right in a sequence of PNG files (around 100).I want to crop each single PNG file WITH THE SAME SIZE so that the center of the image is the center of the fly. The aim is to have the movement but having the fly "locked in the center".
For this I could use the crop or the select tool. My problem is the for the crop tool i can center the crop on the center of the fly but I cannot select a fixed size (like with the selct tool) and with the select tool i can select a fixed image size but i cannot center it on the fly's center. Hope i managed to express myself...
Is there a way to select the crop tool with the same frame size or to see the center of the select tool?? I noticed that once you select a fixed area the cursor position becomes the upper left corner of the selection.
Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6 :: Cropping With Paper Size Dialog
Jan 28, 2013I thought that I would take a shot at a possible reason why cropping with the paper size dialog would give different results which appear to be random.
1. The dialog opens with the programmer assuming the user will make the paper size larger than the image. He takes the difference between the paper size’s lower right corner and the image’s lower right corner and subtracts the two. That’s a positive number since the paper size is larger than the image. It’s added to all pixel positions in the image which brings the image to the lower right corner of the paper.
2. Now consider what will happen if the paper size is smaller than the image.
Scenario 1: The user picks paper size before position. The difference between the lower right corners is now a negative number. Using negative numbers to reorder the image pixels will incorrectly display the upper right corner of the image in the canvas.
Scenario 2. The user picks position before paper size. The lower right corners of the image and paper are set equal. Reducing the paper size now leaves the lower right corner of the image to be displayed.
Thus the display of the corner of the image appears to be random. However, it’s following the orders given by the user. Without doubt, there are other possible scenarios for this behavior.

Feb 14, 2012I have a character model I got from the Evolver site before it went offline.
I need to set the pivot point of the eyes to be at the center of their meshes so I can use it in Face Robot.
I do this by clicking on the eye object and "Affect Pivot Only", "Center to Object". This works but when I export the model as FBX the moment the export has finished my eyes have both jumped to the the floor and my pivot is still in the correct place. When I import the FBX into Softimage I see the eyes are now on the floor. I also have the same when I try to do the pivot point in Softimage [URL]....I am a competent modeller however a begginer when it comes to Autodesk's software. Is their some property on the model that could make it peform liek this, does it have something to do with the bones/skining?
