Using Debian testing - Gimp 2.6.11 and when I create a graphic I try to use airbrush, brush or pencil and I can't get them onto the graphic. The colour tester does get onto the graphic and works.
for the others the cursor vanishes and only the arrows on the ruler top and side move about. The cursor is behind the graphic? Moves out from under when I move off the graphic.
I am a long time gimp user and also a long time intuos user and I just recently got the airbrush pen for my intuos. I am running windows 7 and gimp 2.8. I am trying to figure out how to get the wheel on the airbrush pen to do something like adjust occupancy for example but I cant get any wheel settings to work. I am not sure if gimp recognizes that its a different pen. Any airbrush pen or a pen with a wheel in gimp
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with my MEDION graphic tray (MSN:5503 9347).I want to draw in grayscale with my Windows 7 computer.In Windows XP it was no problem, but I cant do that under Windows 7.I think that it's the driver, wich supports the graphic trayas a mouse instead of a graphic tray.I have asked MEDION already, but they said, I have toask the software producers.

No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation. Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.
i have a few raw images from my latest modelling assignement which i want air brushing. This would need to be a high standard.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't seem to be able to change my stroke in brush or pencil. It keeps resetting back to basic stroke 1pt/basic/uniform. The only way I seem to be able to go around this problem is to first paint something and then select the stroke and choose the stroke width, etc., but that's too time consuming and very difficult to work. I am using CS 5. "New Art Has Basic Appearance" is unchecked.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I set my pencil brush tool to 1px, to make some pixel art, it is not 1 pixel, it adds an extra pixel to the left. I dont know why this happens, but im the height IS 1 pixel, but the width adds an extra pixel to the left or right (mainly left). even when i position it ExACTLY in the center of the grid, which is set to 1px by 1px, it STILL adds an extra pixel
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis was not an issue in CS5, and I can't figure out how to change it in CS6. I like to Illustrate with the Pencil Tool. I set the stroke to width profile 1 (tapered on both ends) and the stoke to whatever makes sense for my current project, and it keeps changing back to Uniform and 1pt. I have tried to get my settings to "stick" with the Pencil Tool and Brush Tool, and have had no luck. The only way I can change the stroke profile is to do it AFTER the stoke is made.

I want to key in the number of pixels for the the thickness of the line and if possible key in the position of the line. I know I can use a new grid line to position a grid line, but how do I then turn that grid line into a permanent line where I can decide the width and colour? I'm trying to refrain from the long way round of zooming up to 1600% and physically using the rectangular marquee tool then filling the rectangal with colour.

I discovered it in SAI and it's amazing how easily one could draw smooth curves with the brush/pencil without a need to mess with vectors but SAI is seriously lacking in many basic things that Paint.net has (i couldn't even change the size of a cut/pasted object). same thing with the connect two paths. holding the command key doesn't change the behavior of the pencil tool.i'm guessing there is no way of remapping the 'smooth tool' to option again? or was it moved to another hotkey?
there's a way to setup a keyboard shortcut to adjust pressure and rate for airbrush and smudge tools? I swear I've been up and down the whole shortcuts list... and perhaps I'm just missing something...

I'm trying to change the color of an image by using pencil, but even though I change the foreground color in Toolbox, the pencil only draws Black.

Example:
Open GIMP
New File, 50x50 px, RGB, 72ppi
Paint Bucket, Lasso, Magic Wand, all work. Pencil, Paintbrush - nothing.
If I open an image, I can select it, duplicate it, color pick, paint bucket and all of the functions in the dropdown menus seem to work, but no drawing or painting.
I made a new template, and my Pencil and PaintBrush would not work. When I tried to draw something, nothing appeared. The icon was there, but no drawing area. I tried to ajust it with the [ and ]. Nothing changed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically, I opened 2.8 this morning and started working on something, but for some reason everything I do can be undone with ctrl+z except for the pencil tool. It doesn't even feature in the undo history, so I have to just use the eraser tool instead. Is this a bug, or is there some setting I need to play with? Because I LIKE the pencil tool :/ and I don't want to have to stop using it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn a new transparent layer, I have drawn a straight line with the pencil tool. I select the Box Selection tool to select the whole line that I just drawn. I switch to the Move tool and made sure to move just the selection.
At this point, I would think that I would be able to move the line but only the box that is shown by the Box Selection tool moves. The line doesn't move at all. However, when I tell the Move tool to move the selected layer, the whole canvas moves, including the line. Why can't I just select just the line and move it?
How can I reduce the size of the Pencil tool to as little as 1 or 2 pixels? I want to draw fairly fine shadows, and have figured out that creating shadows requires smudging or blurring gradients of black-to-grey, but the default options in the Brushes toolbox are far, far too large.

Edit -> Stroke Path (stroke with a paint tool -> Pencil)
At the top and bottom of the ellipse the outline is discontinued.
With View -> Zoom: 800% the stepsize for the applied pencil can be counted. I count a gap of 8 pixels, but I found no way to configure the stepsize.I'd like to have the pencil applied each pixel along the path.
