Photoshop :: Put A Layer On Top Of Another And Achieve A Specific Effect
Feb 6, 2009I am trying to put a layer on top of another and achieve a specific effect.
My bottom layer is a normal color image, however my top layer is a single object with completely white background. I am trying to over-layer the two in such a way that the object on the top layer is fully visible and blocks the space behind it. However the white portion of the top layer should not interfere with the bottom image. I know there is a cropping method but I cannot use any cropping in what I am doing. I need to figure out how to do this effect using layer options.
The trick is that I have a completely white background on my top image, so I think there should be a way to make white transparent but at the same time keep the object visible.
Here is a sample of what i am looking for (I did this using cropping technique but need to figure out how to do it using layer options/effects such as multiply and overlay)

Dec 7, 2011I've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

Nov 22, 2012Any alternative way to increment an objects specific R, G or B color value? What I am trying to accomplish is to take a group of objects and increment the red, green or blue value by 5 without effecting the other values.
This has to be an increment on all existing values of each individual object. So if 3 objects have 3 different RGB's but I want to increase the RED on all of them by 5.
EXAMPLE
Object 1 : R-35 G-35 B-35
Changed to R-40 G-35 B-35
Object 2 : R-55 G-100 B-150
Changed to R-60 G-100 B-150
ETC....
I know this sounds specific but I am trying to create an RGB table the easiest way possible. In this example I`m referring to RGB but it could be for CMYK as well.
CorelDRAW X4 :: Macro To Copy A Specific File
Dec 28, 2012Need a macro to copy a specific file and then promp where to paste the file. Trying to make a macro to Publish to PDF with certain parameters, mainly the security password, then save to as file "X". Then Call macro to copy file "X" so I can navigate to the proper directory,paste it and rename it.
If Corel had a feature that would allow you to set your password once and it would remember it so you didn't have to retype it every time.
I did managed to Record completely the macro but it will only save over the same file every time. It would work great if I could get it to just go back to the "publish To PDF" after inputting the settings then I can name it and put it in the directory I want.

Oct 5, 2012I use Coreldraw x3 for cutting vinyl to put on shirts and windows ect. I cut on 14" and 24" rolls of vinyl. To save vinyl I make a rectangle in corel at 14x25" or 24x25" and then I put the graphics in that rectangle as snug as I can to make sure I conserve as much vinyl as possible.
I am wondering if there is a way to select my rectangle and the art that I want to piece into it and have the program automatically fill up the space as sparingly as possible. This would save me a lot of time and it would probably be more efficient for saving vinyl because corel would know the optimal way to piece the art in.

Jul 6, 2011I am using CorelDRAW 12 with Windows XP. I would like to type Chinese Characters. 1 specific word can't be shown correctly in CorelDRAW 12. It's "焗" and its read as "Ju" in Chinese. I was going to Text > Encode and check whether the word can be shown or not. In fact, in Encode Dialogue I can see the character well, but when I click "OK" and I can't see it. I get only the rectangle or nothing instead.

Mar 20, 2013I have been using Corel for over 20 years, and have never needed support. I do most of my work editing nodes within a drawing for creating continuous line patterns that are repeatable.
For years I have simple "nudged" the first and last point of a complex curve to the appropriate position. Now I want to simplify that by entering in the coordinates for the node.
I have tried Object Coordinates, but it appears to do nothing after I change the node location, or radically change my design. There is no documentation for it. I have searched Customize for some sort of input field to add to the toolbar with no luck.
I always have to add the information on the coordinates of the selected note to the Status Bar, so I am surprised that I can't find an option for editing the position.

Dec 14, 2012i need to type a text in corel of a specific size in millimeters. i know there is a setting in the corel options that allows sizing text directly in millimeters, instead of points. problem is that i need to type in romanian language, which has these points and marks above or bellow certain characters like A, T or S and the size in millimeters that i enter in the text size box will give that size to the "marked" characters, whereas i need only the pure, normal letter to be given that size. for example, an S with a comma under it.. i want just the S to be given a certain size and the comma scaled proportionally. furthermore, i would like to add an even spacing between all the letters that i type, also expressed in millimeters. i could only find a percent expressed setting in the text properties panel, i dont even know percents of what.
how can i do this in the fastest way possible, or automatically?

Aug 24, 2011In 2006 I started a vector-based comic using CorelDraw, made for posting on the web in RGB. Over the years I've made the transition to a more CMYK-friendly palette that works on the web, though a handful of heritage characters still have the old RGB profiles. I'm looking to do a book collection now and, as such, want to convert these characters' specific colors to their fitting CMYK counterparts.
Is there a batch process that allows me to convert a specific handful (maybe 2 dozen) colors RGB --> CMYK across a number of files? I'm looking at hundreds of pages of artwork here, so even Corel's Object Find/Replace would be a tedious slough.
CorelDRAW X5 :: Adding Perspective To Grouped Objects (specific Dimensions)
Apr 20, 2012I need to find a way to add "perspective" to grouped objects that include a bitmap and other drawn objects. I can convert everything to a bitmap in needed. What I need this for is I engrave this grouped artwork onto drinking glasses and I have to adjust the artwork for the differences in the diameter of the glass. I need to be able to set the width of the top of the artwork with a numeric value and the bottom with a different numeric value.
An example of the problem with the engraving is that if I wanted to engrave a one inch square half way down the glass I would have to make the top of the square 1.1 inches wide and the bottom of the square 1.2 inches (the math is not right with this example) so a trapezoid turns into a square once engrave on the tapered glass.
The image below shows a sample of the artwork I need to engrave. The right side image is an exaggerated example of what the artwork would need to look like to work right once engraved. I could only adjust the black ring but not the text or image in the center. The third image is to show a trapezoid.

Jul 11, 2011I have a radius that is spread between 10 and 40 degrees that I need to evenly space 6 line segments throughout.
What this is for is a property with 5 lots along a curved street. Each lot is the same size and I am trying to draw just the sections that are affected. I have tried using the star feature and reducing it to single lines, but they do not space evenly and getting the line number is very difficult. I have tried dividing the angle range and come up with the correct angle and spacing but this is also an issue. Is there any way to do this without dragging each line separately?

May 15, 2012In all my previous programs I have managed to change the default to no fill effect in a vector shape, the default in X6 is a fill effect even though there is no colour so as long as the shape is on top you can click anywhere and it is picked. I can't find where to change this to empty space.

Mar 8, 2011I got a new MAC OS X 10.6.2 last spring and installed the CorelDraw 11 that I've used for several years on my other MACS. When I try to use a bitmap effect from the drop down menu (like 3D effects, art strokes, creative, contour etc...) the boxes do not open. I've tried reinstalling the application and it didn't work. I was always able to use these effects on my other computers. Every other menu item I use works. I wish Corel would make something new for MACs
