CorelDRAW X6 :: Creating Photographic Film Effect?

View 7 RepliesI would create this movie effect in letter p which is below.
View 7 RepliesI'm trying to create a PNG file that maintains its reflection which was captured in-camera. The end result would be that the PNG could be used over any colored background (easy for the object) and the reflection takes on the color of the background (not easy to achieve if you can't multiply the reflection over a colored background).
The image was shot on a white background but needs to be able to fall on any color. It would be easy to use the path around the object to isolate the background to a new layer and simply set the layer to Multiply. I realize that, but these PNG files could end up being used by anyone, and they may not have Photoshop, but rather - Powerpoint.
I've developed a process that does this to a degre, but I end up with a white halo around the feathered edges of the reflection (not shown in the example above - see below).
In the shot above, I've split the (very subtle) reflection in a layer set to Multiply, seen to the upper left along the edge. To the lower right is the same reflection with a white hazy halo bleeding into the feathered edge, and this was generated using the process below. Remember, everything is shot on a white background so the reflection has white feathered into it. I'm like this close to desirable results, but the haze has me stumped.
Here's how I got the right side to be transparent without using Multiply, and saving as PNG. Anyone who opens the file should be able to place it over any color background, supplied to them in PNG format.
1. Using high res JPG image, convert "Background" to Layer 0.
2. Activate Path 1 as selection, invert selection and copy all area around product. Paste that copy to new layer.
3. Using same selection, delete all area around product in Layer 0. Now the product is on a separate layer from the shadow and reflection.
4. Duplicate reflection layer and invert. Turn off all other layers. Go to Channels pane, select Blue channel - Command-click channel - Copy.
5. Return to Layers pane and add layer mask to reflection layer. Delete duplicate layer from step 4.
6. Go to Mask pane (CS5) or Properties (CS6) and click on Mask Edge. Slide the Shift Edge parameter to +100.
7. Run Levels on reflection layer - set the Input mid to .96 and set highlight Output Level to 250.
8. Select background image area using mask - subtract subject from selection using path and run Exposure on reflection layer from menu command: Image/Adjust/Exposure: -0.24, -0.15, 0.70. (Using an adjustment layer for Exposure will not work. It saves to PNG with a different outcome when reopened)
9. Set reflection layer opacity to 60%.
Is there any way to use the "old film" effect, but keep the original colors. I really enjoy the look of the scratches and dust, but I do not want a grey movie.

This way seems good to achieve water effect. I hope you like. All 100% made in Corel Draw. Except the seagulls, which are trimmed images.
With such purpose you can create a beautiful beach.
I tried using envelope, add perspective, blend mode... and still i cant get the effect of the windows that twist with the film.

I'm looking first for a way to describe the color style of this image : it seems to have vivid colors but an almost sepia quality. Or am I misusing these terms?
I suppose I'm looking for someone to guide me into the best way to describe the color-style of this (and most of the photos on this site) so that I can best approach how to digitally edit some of my photos to achieve the same effect.
I cannot print photogrpaic images with my desktop MAC (OS X10.8.4) from Photoshop Elements 9.0 to my new Epson XP-800 printer. Printing is not a problem with Word text or images from iPhoto- it is only with PSE that there is a problem. The problem persists even if I try using a cabled connection rather than WiFi. I have ensured latest software from Epson has been downloaded. This problem did not occur when using the same system with the previous printer (Epson Photo Stylus 1290).
Any workaround of moving the edited PSE image back to iPhoto & printing from there (which admittedly does work but shouldn't be necessary).
I need to make a banner with animation. I'm trying to put a dog picture into it. I have downloaded a few but when I tried to resize them they are not retain their shape, example when I try to shrink the top downwards or vice versa the picture itself has been distorted.
Is there anyway that can be maintained for the original picture shape.
I was using an earlier version of that a graphic designer and have upgraded to version 9, I never had any problem resizing image in the previous version.
We have been connected together using a program so I can see what he is doing and vice versa.I have noticed he has more colours across the bottom. Is there any way to check as I can't seem to edit or increased the colours.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a photographic image, I need transparent background. So normal add alpha channel, select by color, clear, save as png.
But this time, select by color also selects parts of the image I do not wish to clear, including the models eyes. Set the threshhold to zero and it *still* selects parts of the image.
The image is already isolated from background. I tried using paint bucket to change background color and select by color that way, and it sort of works except paint bucket doesn't fill in parts where the models curly hair cut the path, so I end up with transparency but white background parts in her hair.
What would be cool is if I could select by color, and then manually use some tool to deselect the selected parts on the model that I do not want to clear, but I can't figure out how to do that.

I have a gray scale tiff image that will be printed on a corrugated fibreboard carton. I need to show what this image will look like at 45 DPI when viewed on a screen and printed out in a PDF file. How would I show the actual 45 DPI in the image itself? I Have seen images before that are in 45 or other DPI but for the life of me can't figure out how to do it. I have Photoshop 4 here at home on my laptop and am about ready to pull my hair out trying to figure this out. I know if I had a LaserWriter, I would just assign a DPI to the image when it goes to the printer and it would print out at 45 DPI. This effect is what I need to be seen on the screen.

I need to create stardust for a few of my images. I want it to look like a sparkle of showering stars. I have no idea how to do this.
I found an online tutorial about making a new layer in white and using the airbrush/smudge tool...but it didnt give me the effect I want, it looked like a white trail of stars. I want the stardust to be slightly transparent, almost ghostly, so you can see the background image.

View 7 Replies View RelatedStage 1: I wish to mark up an existing image with transparent, highlighter-like markings. I've come close with paths, stroking with brush, and applying a gradient map (with alpha adjustment), but I would like to get the density of the coloring to vary and I haven't been able to find a combination of brush and gradient adjustment that will accomplish this in a visible way. Specifically, I would like the center of the broad line more transparent and the edges less so.
Am I using the best approach?
Stage 2: Carrying Stage 1 a bit further, I would like the edges of the broad line to be discontinuously more intense than the center, so that they appear as edges. This seems like a gradient map function on the line left by the brush (standard fuzzy, (19)(21x21)) but again, I haven't found a gradient that will do it. I've tried splitting the map, etc, but I may just lack the experience. Or this might be the wrong approach altogether.
The following is a link to a tutorial creating a diamond effect on a word.
[URl]
At 4:35 into it, the author begins creating the shiny parts of the diamonds by drawing a path, copying it and then rotating the copy ninety degrees.
I'm having trouble just creating that first path the way it's done in the tutorial. First, it says to choose a brush of 17, make sure it's white, then switch to the pen tool and draw a straight white line. However, mine doesn't look like that, how it splays outs. I just get a straight white line. Then, when I try to tranform the copy by rotating it 90 degrees I get an error message saying "Could not rotate because the initial bounding rectangle is empty."

how to create mirror image for all objects.
I am trying to create this shape, but have it so it is scalable for a logo image. I have tried making various ellipses and putting them on top of each other, then skewing them and going back to trim out the "tails" of the rings. It never seems to come out clean, and the top edges of the rings always seem square rather than rounded.
Does anyone know of a better approach to this. I apologize if there is already a tutorial or thread on this, I searched, but didnt find anything on my own. I would be using it for both print and web.
I'm looking to create this damaged metal effect in CS2.
how to do so?
I found a tut, but it was for Gimp. Also, I'd like to try to make it without any lighting or shadowing effects. I'm importing the texture into a community built game, and I know how to create my own specular & bump maps for the in-game shadow effects.
