i'm trying to build an easy way to create something like the following network graphic in Illustrator:
I basically want to create a brush or some other automatic method for adding a specific shape (in this case a circle) at every point a long a path. It would be nice if I could easily move around points on a path without have to move all of the circles independently.
I tried creating a pattern brush where the circles were the corner elements but depending on the angle of the corner the shape would get distorted.
s there a way to make patterns (repeat symbol) along paths? Something like using Artistic Media > Brush, but I'd like it to repeat symbol. It's possible and simple in illustrator, but in work I have to use Corel Draw.I need to make something like that: [URL] ..... can't use line style, because the pattern is too complex. Those symbols have to be smooth, so Foster's solution isn't that good...

I want to make a vector shape from a path. Is there a way to bypass having to define a new custom shape? I just want to quickly add the vector shape to a new layer, but I don't need it defined as it'll just be used once.

I'm trying about 8 hours to convert a Photoshop shape in to a working path in order to put a brush border around it. I don't understand why the "stroke path with brush" is grayed out and not usable directly on the shape path itself.
"Load path from selection" is not an option because it deforms my path.
Is there a way for forcing a flat pattern, when unfolded, to a specific length?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a layer in which I want to crop it-after the cropping I want this layer to have a specific shape-the shape I intend to use is not from the custom shapes list.
Actually it is a type layer.
So I want to use this type layer and with it crop another shape layer, so the latter, takes the form of the later.
How am I going to achieve the above-I tried with a clipping mask but could not do it.
How to change the shape of an image to fit a specific shape.
What I'm trying to do is reshape a geometrically patterned rectangular image so that the printed image fits around a truncated cone. I'm trying to use the image to create a stencil for glazing a straight sided pottery cup. I know the circumference of the rim and the circumference of the base of the truncated cone so I need to wind up with the borders of the image having a convex curve at the top with the arc length equal to the rim's circumference, a concave curve at the bottom with the arc length equal to the circumference of the base, and with the end points of both arcs connected with diagonal lines equal to the length of the sides of the cup. In addition, I'd like to preserve the image in it's entirety, but distort it as necessary to fit the borders without cutting any of it out. (I attached a sketch in case my pattern shape description was confusing).
I have an open path in Photoshop CS4. When I go to stroke the path, Photoshop makes a stroke that closes the path from end to end. I want to stroke just the path with a specified stroke width in a specific color.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project I'm working on which requires a sweep path to be a graphical parametric mathematical function in x, y and z.
ex:
x=1.25*sin(10*t)
y=sin(t)*(12+1.25*cos(10*t))+12
z=cos(t)*(12+1.25*cos(10*t))
(this curve is a groove in the surface a bicycle tire. It spirals around several times and gets subtracted from a solid torus)
I was using an old version of NX I-DEAS and this task was easily accomplished with the "function spline" feature. Is anything like this possible in Inventor? I know I could create a list of points in excel, but I'd really prefer not to.
I am completely new to ilogic but would like to make a rule in my idw file that change the hatch pattern in a section of a specific material.
Short Version:
I have an aluminum extrusion part. Material is set to Aluminum-6061. In any section view of this part I want the hatch to be ANSI 31 with a rotation of 45 degrees and a scale of .02 How do I do this?
converting an image to a specific sized circle shape. Either by changing the actual shape of pasting a section of the image into a circle.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a logo that consists of the word DIFFERENT in text and a shape, a dot (an ellipse) that I want to appear above the I and be vertically aligned with I.
How can I do this?The problem is that I can't see how to identify the point in the text - the centre of the I - to act as the target. I can't seem to get any of the Snap to Object tools to work.
I feel that I should be able to mark a specific point anywhere on a shape or an object and use those points to align.
I suspect that I could achieve the effect that I want by splitting the text characters up into individual objects, than I can align them more obviously but then I set up some other issues with kerning.
I'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?
I just installed CD on my daughter's computer and her shape tool only allows for a free form selection by following the cursor in a free form way. My install allows for a rectangular click-and-drag type of selection. I see no options for this tool Is her install bad?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.
1> Any lisp routine that does what I describe?
or
2> How to make -attedit replace a tag value without regard to what the value currently is (like a * wildcard)?
this is not a hard one, but it is hard for me to figure out. i would like to find out how to fill a shape with some patterns exactly like how it looks in the below picture. As you can see, the filled pattern pictures(those small hearts) are not overlayed and the sizes are random. And the edge of the shape(that's the big heart) is just smooth. how to do it?

It seems I cannot make the selection into a pattern and stoke that, because it doesn't allow for rotation. So, i converted the selection into a brush, and put angle jitter to "direction" control. But it doesn't work like i would like it. It needs to be a solid stroke. I have spacing set to 1%. I am running CS2/windows. After it is finished i can adjust the color to match the original color.

I have some type converted to outlines, and it is in front/on top of a places raster pattern. when I select the type shapes and pattern and make a clipping mask, the pattern disappears and the letter shapes are filled with nothing!
Matters not whether the letter shapes are grouped or not...is there a way to have all of the letter shapes act as clipping mask together?
Trying to mask type with a vector pattern (place a vector pattern in a type clipping path), but nothing seems to be working. Never had issue before. Tried path in front, pattern in front, converting type path to compound path, converting vector to compound path. A couple of times it looked like it worked, but the pattern was invisible within the path. Illustrator CS6, on a Mac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem since I started using patterns. Basically when I put a pattern on a path I want to then move it along that path so it starts where I want it to start, not neccessarily on the path's starting point.
There is an image of how it looks like
I created a simple pattern to show my issue. For example I want to move this pattern along this circle so it looks like this (triangle points up)
As you can see I rotated the whole circle to get the right outcome I need, but if it was just a regular path I would not be able to fix it this way.
Is there a way to do that? Something like moving text along a path.

I'm supposed to design a Race Track in 3DS Max, however there is one issue I'm running into.
I have created a Spline, which represents the course layout. Now the problem is I don't know how to extrude the unique road shape along it. (Basically the Odd road shape needs to move along the path to create the main route)
I cut my shape out with the mesh editor, and I have my path (Spline) ready, and now I need to extrude it along the path.
