CorelDRAW Premium Suite X5 :: Bevel Effect - Text Face Color Changes

Dec 7, 2011

I have encountered a problem with the bevel effect of corel draw that I can't seem to resolve. I have a vector image and I convert to curves. Click on effects/bevel/soft edge bevel. I set my distance, I set my shadow colour & light colour and when I apply the bevel it changes the face colour to a murky combination of the original vector colour/shadow colour & light colour. I do not want to change the face colour of the text in any way.

Photoshop :: Bevel/ Emboss Effect

I am trying to create a logo similar to the picture I have attached. It isn't exactly embossed, rather imprinted. I am trying to use the digit 6 in avant garde/ century gothic font 62pts, same colors. Somehow, I can't seem to get the desired effect using the embed/bevel layer setting.

Photoshop :: Outer Bevel Text Effect

Jun 13, 2006

I thought maybe just a bevel with lighting and a gradient but nothing I tried came close. The edges seem more precise than anything I did and the creases in the letters, like near the top-right of the 'a' or the middle of the 'h', seem to have depth that an ordinary bevel doesn't create.

I am currently designing a logo with the extrude and bevel effect. It is fine at full size, but when I copy and paste it and scale it down for another file--a.e. a business card--the effect is lost.

Why is this happening? Do you have to apply the effect seperately when the object is rescaled?

Photoshop :: CS5 / Merging Layers Discards Bevel Effect?

Dec 9, 2012

Layers with a layer style applied, mostly of the bevel or emboss variety, lose the effect when the layers are merged or the image flattened. Doesn't seem to happen with any other styles, like drop shadows or glows: those will stay, but the bevel will not. These are all Normal layers, nothing tricky going on. It's a program fault and I need to know if there's a workaround. I'm having to resort to saving the whole unflattened image as a jpeg so the client can proof the work, but sooner or later I'm going to need to flatten the image.

Using Mac PS CS5 Extended, abundance of RAM & Disk space.

Photoshop :: Bevel And Emboss Effect Not Visible In Flattened Image?

Jun 19, 2013

I created a file in .psd, with several text layers to which I applied effects (fx) such as stroke, bevel & emboss, outer glow. When I flatten the image, the outer glow and stroke remain, but the bevel & emboss effect is gone. Type is a single color without the 3 dimensional effect.

I am also not able to preserve the bevel & emboss look when saving as a jpeg or a flattened .tif or .pdf. A saved .tif or .pdf with layers shows the effect just fine, but if the pdf is opened with Acrobat instead of Photoshop, the effect is not visible.

This must be a new problem, because I found a file that I created several years ago that is a flattened .tif with the bevel & emboss effect preserved.

I tried rasterizing the layer, and the type. Tried converting to 16 bit changing mode to CMYK, and multi-channel. Everything that involved merging layers lost the bevel & emboss effect.

Illustrator :: How To Resize Using A Logo Made With Extrude And Bevel Effect

Feb 4, 2014

I design flags for people and have worked with Illustrator for just over a year. Most logo's I've worked are 2D and I've never had any issues that I could overcome ( I learn as I go along) however  I have been given a logo which has the Extrude & Bevel effect on (which I haven't worked with before) (see first image). I have to make this logo much bigger but when i do it stretches and reshapes the logo. (see 2nd image).

The  scale stroke & effect box, is checked. I am working in CS6. So how do I resize this logo proportionately?

Illustrator :: Adding Grain Pattern - Unwanted Bevel Effect Around The Object?

When adding a grain pattern effect to an object in Illustrator CS6 I get an odd bevel that surrounds the object. There is nothing in the Appearance window to suggest that there should be a bevel and I didn't add it myself.

Is there some setting I am missing or an easy way to remove the effect? For now I am masking the object with a slightly smaller object but it's starting to drastically increase the size of my file.

GIMP :: How To Use Bevel And Emboss Layer Effect On Image Copied From Another Image

Jul 19, 2013

I'm running Gimp 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 13.04 Linux (64-bit) and I'm trying touse the "Bevel and Emboss" layer effect on an image which I copied fromanother image. Here is what I've done:

1. Loaded image 'A' into Gimp
2. Selected a portion of it
3. Used "/Edit/Copy" to copy the selection
4. Used "/Edit/Paste As/New image" to create a new image from the selection
5. In the new window for the new image, "/FX-Foundry/Layer effects/Bevel and Emboss"
6. When the "Bevel and Emboss" window opens, I accept the defaults and click "Ok"

The filter starts to run and then stops with an error message. Here is the message I get:

------------ START ------------------

Bevel and Emboss Message

Error while executing script-fu-layer-effects-bevel-and-emboss:

Error: ( : 1) Procedure execution of gimp-selection-layer-alpha failed on invalid input arguments: Item 'Pasted Layer copy' (87) cannot be used because it has not been added to an image

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Extrude / Bevel / Blend

Which tool to use and how to use it for the effect below:

I am trying to simulate the radius edge along the curve such that it looks like it is a 3D object raised off the surface with drop-shadow (c). I want to retain the curved line (b) and the 90 degree corners (a) The object has a three-colour graduated fill.

CorelDraw X5.

EDIT: I am a bit closer using the contour tool but not quite right yet and I can't add a drop-shadow to a contour group and I want to make the 'white' section a bit wider.:

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: How To Edit Or At Least Read Properties / Params Of Old Bevel Object

Sep 2, 2011

In CorelDRAW 12 I created a design with a few bevel effects on simple polygons. I now have CorelDRAW X5 and need to make some minor adjustments to these bevels.

But I can't seem to bring upp the bevel properties anyway and of course canät edit them either.

How can I at least SEE what properties/params were used for those bevels?

It's OK if I can't edit them (even if that would be preferable). As long as I can get to see the properties that were used, I can remove the old ones and create new ones with the same properties (with the required adjustments).

I note that in the object manager, the old bevels appear as "Bevel group" (but in Swedish), while new bevels appear as "Bevel", and the little icon in the object tree is different. The old ones have an icon that would seem better suited for an extrude.

Photoshop :: Flare Is Behind The Gradient Effect

Jan 7, 2013

I have made a tv icon and on the object that's suppose to be the screen I would like to add a Lens Flare effect. However, I cannot seem to get the Flare placement just where I would like for it to be also, I used a Gradient (on the screen) of a mid Grey color and White set to Radial but it seems as though when the Gradient Effect is turned on the Flare is behind the Gradient effect. So, I assume I cannot use both ~ together??

But, the lesson by which I followed seems to have used both effects ... ie: the Flare seems to be on top of the Gradient. Thus far I tried to Duplicate the layer and then tried to put the Flare on the duplicate and I have tried different Layer Blends, Opacity etc, but I cannot seem to achieve the desired result.

The blue one is the one I made. The red one is a partial shot of the one from the lesson. See how the screen has the Flare effect and also seems to have the Radial Gradient? The tut doesn't offer any instruction as to how the author/artist went about achieving the result.

Photoshop :: Reverse Gradient Effect...

Feb 8, 2004

I was working on a design. I had a dark gray background and was going to do a soft white gradient effect in my selection.

When I went to do it, for some reason it was reversed. The gradient came into the selection but just above the selection was a darker color. So it looked like a gradient with a shadow all at once.

Then I looked at my layers and noticed I was not in the new layer, but I was on my background layer, so it was one layer.

So when I did the design, I went back to play with gradients and it wouldn't happen anymore. Does anyone know how this happened, it was a nice effect.

My mode was on "normal" and the only difference is that I was on a background layer already filled with color, so I thought that was it, but apparently not.

it looked pretty clean to get a gradient with a shadow effect on the outside of the selection. The only other way it does some of this effect, is when I feather the selection and use foreground/background color with the gradient tool, but it's not the same.

GIMP :: How To Make Seamless Without Gradient Effect

Jan 23, 2013

What I want to do is take a design and automatically filter it to divide it into four parts that are moved into the corners of the image for tiling, like the Make Seamless feature. But I don't want any image-changing effects other than that, like gradients, which can't be turned off when using Make Seamless. What can I do?

If I have to do it manually, how do I do this? I can't seem to understand how to use the grid or ruler to find the exact center or divide the image into four equal parts.
