CorelDRAW X5 :: Custom Shape Transparency Mask?

I need to make an object or group transparent towards its borders.
In particular, I drew a red heart and gave it a yellow contour with 20 steps, imitating a gradient. So the heart looks like it has a gradient (from red to yellow) towards its border.Â
Now I need this heart to also be transparent towards the border. The transparency should begin somewhere in the red part and slowly mask everything and it should end just before the outer border, which should be completely transparent.
The radial transparency tool does not produce good results, because the heart borders are not uniformly transparent. I need a mask exactly of the heart shape.
how to do it inside CorelDRAW?

is there any way in photoshop cs to create a gradient mask inside of a certain shape, so that the gradient is black on the edges and turns white when it reaches inner parts of the shape?

I'm using X5 and trying to save a PNG with a transparency mask. Everytime I save or export, I get the white box around it. I read a few posts that talk about a "masked" option check box, but that is not on my PNG save dialog box.

While creating various circular masks with a radial gradient from white to black, whenever I change the blending mode of the mask path Ai will throw me out of mask mode into layer editing mode. Since this is on a large document of ~2Gb file with multiple artbords for large poster & UI refresh speed is slow, this has become quite frustrating. Is this normal Ai behaviour?

Is it possible to assign a custom spot color to a shape via VBA? The best I could come up with was something like the following (where "sh" represents a shape):
sh.Outline.Color.FixedAssign cdrCustom, 1, 100
I'm under the impression that cdrCustom is supposed to represent the user's custom spot color palette, but this doesn't seem to work.
Furthermore, I can manually assign a custom spot color to an object and then retrieve the PaletteID and PaletteIndex of that color using VBA. Â For example:
Debug.Print ActiveSelection.Shapes(1)..Outline.Color.PaletteID
Debug.Print ActiveSelection.Shapes(1)..Outline.Color.PaletteIndex
The PaletteID that returns is 0 (cdrCustom), and the PaletteIndex returned does correspond with its order in my custom spot color palette. Â In fact, I can also retrieve the Color.Name and it will correctly identify the custom spot color's name.
For the life of me, I just can't seem to assign these colors using VBA. Â Is it just that the VBA in CorelDRAW 11 is too immature?

In Photoshop CS6, when you have a shape layer with a layer mask, and the two are not linked together, and the layer mask is selected, you should be able to scale the layer mask independently of the shape. What actually happens is the shape gets scaled and the layer mask stays untouched. In fact, even if you option-click on the layer mask to show the mask by itself, and then try to scale it, you still end up scaling the shape instead of the mask. Even if you go as far as to make a pixel selection of the layer mask and attempt to scale the pixels, the shape still gets scaled and the layer mask still stays put! Unbelievable!

This works correctly in CS4, but not in CS6 (don't know about CS5).

I want to make a vector shape from a path. Is there a way to bypass having to define a new custom shape? I just want to quickly add the vector shape to a new layer, but I don't need it defined as it'll just be used once.

i am having a problem with the mask automatically deleting and making transparent the image when I load up a TGA. Simply deleting the mask doesn't bring back the parts of the image that are become transparent, the mask is deleting everything it touches upon loading of the image. Is this a setting somewhere I accidentally turned on? or a bug? PSP didn't used to do this when I first installed it. I have reset all the preferences, uninstalled/ reinstalled, but no fix.

pictures of my car and adding effects and making my pictures really look good. I am in the process of making a new background for my computer i used a layer mask and set the background image to transparent.. I have the regular picture of my car as layer 1.. now when i use the gradient tool to show the transparency behind it works fine.. i save it as a PNG file and everything but when I go to set it as my background, the BLACK background doesn't fade into the picture.. the surrounding area where the transparent layer was showing through is always WHITE.
how can i make the black fade in? i know i can just make the background of the picture black instead of transparent but i want to be able to post these on the internet and give them to my parents so they can do the same.. so i dont want to make everyone have a black background to make it look right, which is why i want transparent.

What I want to do is create a sort of “transparency layer mask”, meaning that this layer will go on top of all my existing layers and will make an area transparent according to the mask. Kind of drilling a hole to transparency through all the layers underneath. I see that you can do similar things with adjustment layers but I couldn’t make one for transparency. Even better would be to be able to specify which underneath layers this layer will affect.

Alright, so I'm about to rip my hair out. I'm a Photoshop guy who occasionally vectorizes stuff into Illustrator CS4 by exporting work paths. Usually it works fine, but it's been a few years since I've done this and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to apply an opacity mask to an area of a layer so that it is transparent through all objects of the layer down to the background.

Basically, I created an image with text in Photoshop. I exported work paths to illustrator and colored/filled in all the objects. I need to cut out certain parts of the image so that they're transparent through to the background so that when the image is printed up on a shirt, fabric shows through rather than ink. This sounds like a stupid question, and it probably is, but I just can't get it to work.

I've gone through all the steps of creating an opacity mask, but every time I make the object transparent, I just get a white fill from an underlying object. It will not cut through to the transparent background. I need to get this object to cut through all layers.

I'm in the process of drawing a site plan which contains buildings, roads and wooded areas. I want to draw roads which go through the wooded areas. I want both the road and the woods to be opaque except where the woods overlaps the road (I want the wood to be partially transparent at the overlap). Example of the effect I want is shown below. I don't get this effect when trying to use blending transparency modes. I'm sure it can be done with the opacity mask but I've tried all sorts of combinations and not managed to get this effect.

I just upgraded to Map 3d 2014 from 2010 and cannot figure out how to control the transparency for shapefiles. I thought that it was a glitch with the upgrade so installed the servepack and still no luck. Â So when I go to edit style and then to the style polygon dialouge there is no control for the foreground and no control for the trasparency, there is just a the word tranparency option with "0" but no way change it. Â I have installed 3d on 2 computers and the same on both.

In vectorworks, you can mask or fill a shape so that whatever behind the shape will be mask. I find it extremely useful compare to Autocad where I have to keep trim and extend for every change.

As for the text, the dimension text can do color fill where you can fill with background. is it possible to do the same for a multiline text ? I'm not familiar with any coding or add-in so if I have to use them for mask .

I am using a layer mask to hide/all on a another gradient/pattern. I can use the gradient tools and preset okay to achieve an effect of it blending out horizontal or spherically etc.. (depending on which preset) is set. However I want to blend on my path which is custom made.

Is there a way to make transparency on custom brushes? I had an idea to make custom brush sets similar to those used in photoshop. I know in Photoshop, Custom Brushes are done with opacity maps With white being transparent and black being full color and all the greys in between being different levels of transparent. I've tried doing that with custom brushes mini and I've also tried making the images transparent, but I just cant seem to make it work. I can get either completely solid and completely transparent. But nothing in between...

I have some shape files that data connected to my drawings and shown as a solid color polygon. I set the foreground transparency 40% in order to see the USGS map on the background. But When I print out, it print out as a solid color, not transparency.
How to work with a solid color shape files so I can see the USGS map when it prints out.

I'm creating a logo that consists of the word DIFFERENT in text and a shape, a dot (an ellipse) that I want to appear above the I and be vertically aligned with I.
How can I do this?The problem is that I can't see how to identify the point in the text - the centre of the I - to act as the target. I can't seem to get any of the Snap to Object tools to work.
I feel that I should be able to mark a specific point anywhere on a shape or an object and use those points to align.
I suspect that I could achieve the effect that I want by splitting the text characters up into individual objects, than I can align them more obviously but then I set up some other issues with kerning.

I'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?

I just installed CD on my daughter's computer and her shape tool only allows for a free form selection by following the cursor in a free form way. My install allows for a rectangular click-and-drag type of selection. I see no options for this tool Is her install bad?

I've unlinked the layer mask from the shape layer, and made sure the layer mask thumbnail is selected in the layers palette.

If I do a cmd-t on OSX to transform, Photoshop (CS6) selects the shape layer path to transform instead of the mask layer, even though the mask thumbnail is still selected and even if I have a marque selection.Is this a bug?

is there a way to mask text with a shape (ie text inside a square that gets clipped off if it goes off the square's boundry) without rasterization? All illustrator seems to want to do is to make a clipping mask the opposite way with the square being put inside the text. When I try to do it the other way it claims that is too complicated and will mess things up.

I created this logo in Illustrator. I made my basic shapes with a pen tool, put a vector grunge texture over the top of the shapes and then used "make opacity mask" to get my grunge effect. As you can see in the screenshot of my illy it is all very clean and looking like it should. When you open my other picture you can see that once I transferred (cmd+copy cmd+paste) the logo into PS you can now see faint lines of where the shapes used to be *highlighted in red*. I also tried placeing the .ai file in ps but got the same effect. I am using all pantone colors on the logo, both documents are set to 300 dpi....err I cant think of anything else. PS is in RGB, Illustrator is in CMYK (but using Pantone)
How do I get my logo to look as good in PS as it does in Ilustrator?

I have a pretty simple design. Some text and shapes all expanded and turned into outlines. I have one shape that was created by using a clipping mask. I am putting a vector distress pattern over the whole design (like I usually do and it works fine) well I merge them together and everything is completely fine except the shape created with the clipping mask it disappears..

more info: i actually released the clipping mask and I am still having the same problem with this object, it disappears when merged with the vector distress pattern.
