We are going from XP to Win7 shortly. This means re-installing our C3D. Is there a way to save our Workspace settings to our network so we don't have to go thru the hassle of putting everything back together piecemeal?
View 3 RepliesI use civil3D 2008 & now have an unexpected problem where the workspace profile settings will not save so that each time I start the program I have to reset everything, even when I open the program a dialogue box opens asking which workspace I want from a list, I select my saved workspace then tick don’t show me this again & then another dialogue box comes up asking me if I want to see the new feature workshop with options of yes, maybe later or No, don’t show me this again, I tick the No, do not show me this again, then the workspace opens up with the performance tuner box in the right hand bottom corner which I have to close, then I have to reset settings in tools/ options to my liking even though my workspace is the current default, the paths are correct & the main civil.CUI file updates each time I shut down the program. However each time I relaunch I have to go through all this again?

View 9 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is by design, but when I set up LT2013 and sync to cloud at LOCATION A, the settings at LOCATION B get updated fine. But it doesn't bring accross the changes to the CUI / Ribbons / Workspace from LOCATION A.
I have checked and have all options to sync enabled, bar printers. I would expect the appearance and workspace should sync.

Kept getting a nag screen that updates were available for Autodesk 360.
I logged in and updated it. The update required a restart of LT. When it restarted my saved workspace was gone, replaced by the AutoCAD LT Classic.
When I click the down arrows beside the Workspace Control box my saved one isn't listed.
Where did the saved one go? What's going on here? Why are updates messing stuff up?
We keep things like fonts, plot styles, templates, custom menu on one of our network drives. I have noticed that we are losing these paths (in our options) quite frequently. I have checked profiles and workspaces and all seem to be correct. Is this a network issue? If our network drops connection, will these paths just go away?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created pipe and structure settings, as well as the labels associated with them. I did this by going to each setting and revising the default “standard” setting to our company standards and saving it with another name. All the “standard” settings I changed were geared toward displaying the pipes and structures as existing sanitary features. I decided shortly afterwards that it would be better to have it set up so that when I want to lay out a new network, it will, by default, display the pipes and structures as proposed storm services. Existing sanitary pipe networks would display as light lines while proposed storm networks display as bolder lines with hatch.
I therefore went into “commands” and overrode all the default settings (the existing sanitary settings created from the “standard” settings) with the settings I created for the proposed storm. When I created a new pipe network and began laying out structures and pipes, they displayed as per the existing sanitary settings I created, not as per the proposed storm settings.
I then went to the pipe style and structure style, chose the settings I created for the existing sanitary, right clicked and chose “replace with” and picked the settings for the proposed storm. I again tried to lay out a pipe network but the structures and pipes again displayed as per the existing sanitary settings. How do I get the software to, by default, display the structures and pipes as per the settings I created for proposed storm and not existing sanitary?
I have created an action where I do some stuff with the picture and then I save the file to a shared network drive while using the "Save for Web" function. While recording the action everything works fine but when I run the action I got a error that Photoshop can't save the file because the Path does not exist / Is unavailable. It is stuck while he want's to run the "Save for Web" part of the action.
I tried the mapped path (Z:files...) and the UNC path (\fileservusersdjametfiles...) but both did not work.I am using Photoshop CS5 and Windows 7 Professional (64Bit).
I am currently using Acad 07 on Windows 7. I save my drawings to another pc on our network. Yesterday said pc was updated to windows 7 and now I am unable to save. I get an error message reading:- Unable to save drawing Location/file name.dwg, drawing saved to drawing/filename.tmp. What is a .tmp? I can save the files on my computer then move them over but it isn't ideal

If a certain iProperty is set to yes, we want the user to save that file into a particular folder, if they try and save it elsewhere a message is popped up telling them an error has been made please try and save in the correct folder.

How to save my workspace and load onto another machine? Both systems are running AutoCad 2011 and may soon change to 2012.
I figured out how to customize the ribbon and panels, and I even customized my shortcut menus. I then created my Workspace and "Saved As". Now how do I get this workspace loaded onto my Laptop with a seperate AutoCad License?
Just upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening.If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.
I have some AutoCAD 2013 users in our Fabrication department who are having problems saving R12 dxf files to a network location. When they try to save they get a message that states "Unable to save to drawing N:Bend|5130Xfilename.dxf. Drawing saved to N:Bend|5130Xsav6A0D.tmp" (See attachment for actual message)
The temp file does not get saved either. They can save R12 dxf files locally and to other network locations. They are able to save 2013 dwg and dxf files with no issues. This problem just affects R12 dxf files which they need for programming pressbrakes.
They can save to 2013 dxf files and then overwrite with R12. After that they cannot save again and get the message again.
User workstations vary.
All are Dell Precision workstations and laptops
Windows 7 x64 with 16 GB of RAM
All are running Nvidia Quadro graphics cards with certified drivers
I cant't save copy as PDF when I point to a nework location, It's working when I save directly on my computer.
I get a message saying : "Failed to publish DWF file."
My problem is that when I open a new image, the image window floats behind my left-sided panels.
I really want it to default to a location that I set for any new document that is created or image that is opened, but I can't figure out how to save that location and I've searched online and in the preferences.
PS CC won't save a custom workspace. Nothing happens. In addition, I get a "Can't apply workspace because of a system error" when i try to view the What's New workspace. Just downloaded the CC today. Mac 10.7.5, 3.4 GHz processor, 16GB RAM.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have three PC's that have a problem saving files to a Gigabit NAS. All three started having this problem this morning. It has been working like a champ for 3 months. Open a picture in PS and try saving the pic to another format on the network drive.
PC 1 I get " Could not save as pathfilename because of a a program error. PC2 I get " Could not save as pathfilename because of a a disk error. PC 3 I get " Could not save as pathfilename because the file could not be found. Now I created a new Volume on the NAS and I can now save to that new Volume.
I can read from existing files on the NAS and save in every other CS3 app. Funky. I can save the PS file locally and on other PC shared network folders. I did the 3 finger salute for prefs and did the font CMAP Base thing that was suggested. I changed the memory allocation. Removed mapping and remapped. Virus and spyware free Any ideas?
When I Save a workspace, I untick Include Open Images. I have always done this. When I save a workspace in X5, the 'Include Open Images' is always ticked. I un-tick it and save the workspace. X5 then asks me if I want to save changes to the open images in the workspace. Why? I click on No, repeated for all the images that are open at this time.
I then click on Save a Workspace again and yes, the Include Open Images is ticked again. In previous versions of PSP this remained unticked until the user ticked it again.
Using PSE 11, I get the panels set up the way I want, and the background that shows behind the document white like I want, and all is well. Until the comptuer loses it and I have to redo it all over. How can I get it to save my choices for these things? It also lost all my preferences that I set.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to save the configuration and state of the Track View in my workspace. So when I start up Max, the Track View opens up in the configuration I had when I last used Max, and/or in my saved workspace.
Even after I save my custom workspace, it doesn't save the track view. I have to manually open up the track view, dock it the way I want, and open up my custom layouts I had saved in the track view. This takes a lot of time.
is there a way to have the profile be on 2d drafting already as yoju open a new file or should you always open a new file and then change the profile from architecture to 2d drafting?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).
For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.
The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.
While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?
P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost
