We keep things like fonts, plot styles, templates, custom menu on one of our network drives. I have noticed that we are losing these paths (in our options) quite frequently. I have checked profiles and workspaces and all seem to be correct. Is this a network issue? If our network drops connection, will these paths just go away?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI created pipe and structure settings, as well as the labels associated with them. I did this by going to each setting and revising the default “standard” setting to our company standards and saving it with another name. All the “standard” settings I changed were geared toward displaying the pipes and structures as existing sanitary features. I decided shortly afterwards that it would be better to have it set up so that when I want to lay out a new network, it will, by default, display the pipes and structures as proposed storm services. Existing sanitary pipe networks would display as light lines while proposed storm networks display as bolder lines with hatch.
I therefore went into “commands” and overrode all the default settings (the existing sanitary settings created from the “standard” settings) with the settings I created for the proposed storm. When I created a new pipe network and began laying out structures and pipes, they displayed as per the existing sanitary settings I created, not as per the proposed storm settings.
I then went to the pipe style and structure style, chose the settings I created for the existing sanitary, right clicked and chose “replace with” and picked the settings for the proposed storm. I again tried to lay out a pipe network but the structures and pipes again displayed as per the existing sanitary settings. How do I get the software to, by default, display the structures and pipes as per the settings I created for proposed storm and not existing sanitary?
After a recent installation of updates I now have the drawing network path being plotted on every drawing and plotter used. How can I disable this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn ACA2012, we cannot use the Publish command to overwrite an existing DWF file of same name, for instance you publish a set, then need to re-publish and overwrite the earlier version. We get an error message that the DWF is currently open in another program...when it clearly is not open anywhere and Design Review is closed. We have several servers running different versions of microsoft server, but the results are the same to any of them.
We do NOT get an error message when publishing/overwriting to the C: drive, only a network path. Also, if we use the Print command instead of Publish, well it only does the current page but it DOES allow the networked DWF to be overwritten.
I am puzzled by what could be the difference in that Publish will not overwrite a networked DWF file yet Print will?
This has never happened to us in previous versions of ACA or Design Review.
Our I.T department uses kixstart to run a batch script every morning, which is supposed to establish a network connection. The connection is 9/10 times available. 1/10 times it fails and means that workspaces and other user defined settings are inaccessible.
Bringing up the issue with I.T seams to eparch on there skills as a professional so nowadays I tend to bring it up once maybe twice but then settle for ding it my self
So what I found out is the following batch scrip/ snippet is used to establish a network
net use P: \AutoCAD_2012-08-22
I could compile a batch and then launch it using a lisp for example
(command “startapp”….
Or
(command “shell".However this would be hakky and also requires two files (the lisp and then also the bat file, rather keep it simple just the one).Is it possible to establish this connection using lisp?
I'm having some problems with drawing paths in Illustrator. Everytime I draw a new path, this new path shows up in the standard settings. The 'brush defenition' turns back to 'basic' and the 'variable width profile' back to 'uniform'. It would save me a lot of time if I could change those standard settings into what I prefer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on a mac and I'm trying to run the photoshop script "Layer Comps to Files" - which works fine .... UNLESS I'm connected to an SMB network drive with "users" in the path.
NOTE: I am not trying to save to the network drive!
NOTE: Each test I'm doing is exactly the same (other than which network drive is connected)
NOTE: Just having the network drive connected with "Users" in the path messes things up!
eg.
Script does NOT run if I have an SMB drive connected with "Users" in the path, e.g.: [URL]...As soon as I disconnect the SMB drive (I don't even have to close photoshop) the script runs perfectly fine.The script also runs FINE with other SMB network drives withOUT "users" in the path, e.g.:[URL]...
I found this thread from 2010 (which has never been resolved but is inconveniently read-only now) has the same issue with CS4 and it still isn't fixed in CS6:[URL]...
How come Revit (and in my case 2014) requires a full UNC path (such as \serverproject�01.rvt or \192.145.1.123project�01.rvt) instead of a Mapped Drive path (such as Z:project�01.rvt), which would ultimately cause issues to the location and access of the central file between users? Is it simply the way Revit is programmed to locate and access central files?

Since we installed the new NAS and copied all the data from the old one, opening and saving files takes too long. Sometimes the files hang while regenerating. Saving can take up to more then 4 minutes.
Other applications, for example photoshop, work fine. Copying files from the local disk to the network drive, even moren than 100MB works fine.All computers have windows 7 and the NAS is from Synologie.We tried reinstalling AutoCad but that doesn't solve the problem.We tried setting the savefidelity to 0 but that doesn't solve the problem.
I've made some customisation in the ribbon of a 2013LT version.
Now some customisation functions are only available on the Full, so I download and install it but I can't find a way to import all those custom settings grom LT to Full...
Seems it works only from LT to LT or Full to Full..
Just upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening.If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.
Happens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

I seem to not be able to add a folder that is on our network for content explorer all I see is my computers folders not the servers folder. Is there away to add them? I've tried to drag and drop and it says cant find or have access to warning.
View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing the Pressure Pipe Network in Civil3D 2013? I just recently began developing an Apputenace library for all the parts we use that were not included with the program. I have run into a few big issues that could prevent our firm from using this potentially useful tool. One issue, does the PPN posses the ability to create structures like manholes? This could be a really break point for using it to do a sewer line. Another, how well does it interact with multiple surfaces? If I have two surfaces butted up to one another how to a get a PPN from point A on surface 1 to point B on surface 2 and have that PPN respond at the correct bury depth while creating the correct fittings? As I experiment more this this tool I feel as if there are way more questions about what it can and can't do compared to what a regular pipe network does.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen a pipe network is referenced into a drawing in Civil 3D 2013 there is an option to set the layer for the pipes and structures. After the layer is set, the parts go onto these layers until the network is syncronized. After the network is synronized the parts revert back to whatever layer is set in the object layers in the drawing settings.

Anyway, one of our cad operators is running into the following error when he opens a particular drawing or when he audits it:
Associative Network Evaluation Error
The object cannot be resolved or value limit has been exceeded.
Inconsistent associative objects may display geometry and grips incorrectly and update in unexpected ways when edited. You can undo to restore the associative object to its previous state.
From what he's described to me, it sounds as if he is building this from several separate files. At some point, things go nutty, and that error develops. When the file is loaded, things are out of position, etc.
No luck in getting that error to vanish. Told him to add the individual parts one at a time, and saving versions as he works so we can, hopefully, find what is breaking everything.
Every time I open this drawing, I get this error message:"Inconsistent associative objects may display geometry and grips incorrectly and update in unespected ways when edited. You can undo to restore the associative object to its previous state."
I wonder if this is the result of one of the xref files from the civil, and what to "undo" to whatever "previous state" will prevent this popup window.
Previous searches on this error have brought up discussion of CIvil 3D grouped objects, but like I said, these are simply files we've referenced into our landscape base.
I've been really excited to know Pressure Network modelling is finally coming to Civil 3D with 2013 release. However I've got no clue why any pipe data won't display in Profile View.This makes absolutely no sense in pressure network profiling since you can't output any pipe data to profile view tables. Note pipe data outputs great for regular Pipe Network profile views.
Another thing I'm disappointed in is no ability to output Uphill Tangent and Downhill Tangent for pressure network pipes. Both values are given in Vertical Geometry Band type. Thus they are being obtaned from Profile but not Pressure Network Pipe data. Since in Pressure Networks it's only a couple of pipes that are being curved to match surface line it's impossibe to get Tangets. Sure you can duplicate surface profile and get required data using Vertical Geometry Band type. But it make no sence since it's too much hustle.
I'm quite sure I'm missing something here. Probably there's a way to add required data styles to Band types? Or modify Label styles Contents data sources?
I installed the Network License Manager in a Windows 2008 Server ( I installed theNLM using the CD of AutoCAD 2013). The AutoCAD 2013 works fine in the clientmachines, but the 2011 and 2012 version don´t. In the page of Autodesk, on ManageSerial Numbers, I can see the Serial Number for 2011, 2012 and 2013 Suites. Why theAutoCAD 2011/2012 don´t work in the client machines? Note: in the 2011/2012 versionappears the message " A valid license could not be obtained by the network licensemanager. If you are still unable to access a license, contact your systemadministrator. Error [-96.7.11001] ".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some AutoCAD 2013 users in our Fabrication department who are having problems saving R12 dxf files to a network location. When they try to save they get a message that states "Unable to save to drawing N:Bend|5130Xfilename.dxf. Drawing saved to N:Bend|5130Xsav6A0D.tmp" (See attachment for actual message)
The temp file does not get saved either. They can save R12 dxf files locally and to other network locations. They are able to save 2013 dwg and dxf files with no issues. This problem just affects R12 dxf files which they need for programming pressbrakes.
They can save to 2013 dxf files and then overwrite with R12. After that they cannot save again and get the message again.
User workstations vary.
All are Dell Precision workstations and laptops
Windows 7 x64 with 16 GB of RAM
All are running Nvidia Quadro graphics cards with certified drivers
I cannot get my program to print to any of our network printers. I am using Autocad 2013 LT with FusionWare and Windows 7 on a Macpro OSX Lion. This started being a problem a few weeks ago and the only way I can get anything printed is to make a pdf and and then print the pdf from Acrobat.
Today I brought in a HP 940c printer from home and connected it to my desktop printer. I spent an hour uninstalling and installing the drivers. I can now print from Acrobat on both the PC and Mac sides of the computer, but when I try it from Autocad I get Error_Printing in the HP printer window. No info as to what the error might be. I tried this several times, tried renaming the file with a shorter name but since the driver puts in the entire path that was a futile gesture.
So I have confirmed that the printer is functioning correctly, just not with Autocad. I realize that i do have a working workaround but it is tedius and unnecessay to keep making all those pdfs.
At our school we've got a 60 seat network license for AutoCAD 2013. It is controlled by flexlm. Now, one of our teacher, who travels a lot, needs one of the licenses permanently on his notebook.
Can I extract one of the 60 licenses from the flexlm manager and transfer it permanently to the notebook? If yes, is there a special software for it or is there a documentation, a "how-to"?
I was rolling out 2013 in one of our offices during the brief time SP1 was available. I went ahead and included SP1 in the office's network deployment (using the append option) and installed on all the machines in that office. Now that SP1 has proven to to be a problem, is there any way to uninstall the SP without having to do a complete uninstall and reinstall at each machine? Tried checking thru control panel (with and without "show updates" turned on), but the SP does not appear in the list to uninstall separately.

Environment:
Files stored using SAMBA shares NetgearReady NAS
Two sites connected via WAN
Users using Windows 7 -64bit with Architecture 2014
Mapped drives are used for both site to access NAS, but use different drive letters.
At one point working the projects, users starting getting fatal errors opening from the share. All attempts to get past this failed and I thought the drawing or base files were corrrupt. However, when the files are moved locally to workstation and opened without issue. The users in one office are now working off this files using UNC \serverproject...
The interesting thing, is that users in the other office have no issues dealing with these drawings using on the NAS. The only difference is the WAN and drive mapping letter. This is how they have always worked and never had this issue. The only other thing I will add is they upgraded from 2010 two months ago, but no problems with any other projects.
I am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).
For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.
The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.
While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?
P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost

It would be nice if there was a way to import all the Move Path settings for a project from an Excel-type spread sheet. It would reduce the irksome data input errors that I seem to make all too often. Plus, you could use the power of the spreadsheet to calculate different points/frames.

Everyting was great in 2012, but now I can't get the other machines to see 2013 on my manager. In 2012 I did use 2008 backbunrer because I a similar issue and 2008 bb fixed that. but now 2013 will not see 2008 bb and so I don't know what to do.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using 2014 with 360 syncing on.Several times now, I've setup all my toolbars, snaps, etc the way I want them. I then save out an .arg and they also supposodly sync with 360. Then everything works fine for awhile and then in seemingly random change, they all go hinky, like they've been reset.
Also, my delete key has stopped working, and I can't redefine it in the CUI, and reloading my saved arg doesn't restore it.Also, I can't initiat a command of any kind with items selected. ie. select line then offset command. Reloading arg doesn't fix it.
