I'm trying to use remove many of the same block from a drawing and know that I can use the quick select to `grab` the blocks in one go but only seem to be able to erase them. I could do with freezing them for later. Perhaps it might be better to move them to a new layer?
View 5 RepliesIs there a way to remove blocks from a drawing without having to explode or burst? I'm trying to clean up backgrounds for a hospital and every drawing is driving me mad! After I explode them, all kinds of new entities appear making the problem worse. There has to be a better way. I've tried bursting, but - same effect. On another note, my office is trying to move us to Revit, which appears to have a ridiculously steep learning curve.

I tried to refresh layout but it doesn't work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a several drawings from an outside source. There are blocks in the drawing which I can not remove the attributes. I have tried exploding, erasing, and redefining block. This doesn't seem to remove all the attributes. That is I erase all the attritube that I can see while editing in place. When I save new defintion I have it replace existing block.One attribute remains.
I have tried to use Battman and resync. It allows me to remove all the attributes except one.Point is, I would like to keep the current blocks cleaned up in the drawing without having to go to each and put a new block and remove the old. Not sure of the origin of these blocks.I believe they came from an AutoDesk AEC source and may have been XREF into drawing.
i have a dwg file, it has so many x-refs. And x-refs has so many dynamic blocks. As you know there is a frame around the dynamic block objets. But i have many many rectangles-frames that i want to remove..
I thought that if i set it's colour to black, i could ged rid off to see this ridiculously big frames. But i couldn't.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have just upgraded Autocad from 2008 to 2014. Most of our drawing have an embeded VBA content in them. When we open the drawings we get a notice to "Convert, Download or Continue". We know what this OLD content is and wish to remove it completely. We would rather not download the VBA modules, for this will remove the warning all together.
Is there a way to remove the VBA content?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need a lisp sub-function that can empty all attributes of a specified dynamic block. The idea being that the specified block contains data that changes often and in order to repopulate the block's attributes with new data to replace the old I wish to just blank out the old data first, because it's possible that the new data may not utilize as many attributes and all of the old data must be removed.
The thing is the block I'm after is on several layouts, CTABs and they all need to be wiped clean.
When I use quick select, I can see that there are map features listed in my drawings. When I try to select these features it either says they have been selected but they aren't actually selected, or the autocad will crash forcing me to start over. How can I removed these features (which do not actually appear in the drawing) from the drawing. So many of my files seem to have this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have drawings I reuse for different designs. I sometimes insert a parameter value from a part into a drawing dimension for different reasons. When I copy these drawings and no longer reference that particular part, the dimensions in question get deleted by turning off the "Preserve Orphan Annontations", but the fact that the dimension that referenced the parameter value is deleted does not affect the link, and the drawing tells me there are still unresolved parts! Is there someway to remove these references from the drawing? I can write a macro if I have to, just not sure if there is some other way to do this, or even if a macro can do this? I can apparently just pick some other part in the job that doesn't even have that parameter and the unresolved warning goes away, but is that sufficient? I would think an option in the resolve file dialog should let you delete the reference instead? Using IV2012.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDrawing A has a grid system Xref-ed into it. It also has a block reference in it, repeated in various places throughout the drawing.
I Xref-ed the grid into the block to check something, and now I can't get it out. This means that the grid now repeats all over Drawing A as well and is generally being a nuisance.
If I try to unload the Xref within the block, it unloads it in Drawing A too. If I try to detach it from the block, it returns this message: Xref [Xref name] has multiple references. Not detached. If I try to detach the Xred from Drawing A, it returns the same message.
How do I unload the same Xref that occurs in a block in a drawing, and in the drawing itself, independently of each other?
So I made a shop drawing of an assembly, which is very complex and took a great deal of time to complete. It has 3 sheets and a bunch of different views and information already on the drawing.
Now the thing is I took the assembly and made it an iassembly; but I did this in another file so I wouldnt screw up all the work I did before. Now I realize that I dont have the links to the shop drawing that I wish I did.
how to link the shop drawing to the new iassembly model?

I recently changed a block that i then re-saved to a different palette on my tool palette. i deleted the old block out of a current drawing and when i go to insert it i get the old block back and not the new one. if i open up another drawing and insert the block its the new one.
View 3 Replies View Relatedfor some reason when i select a layer and draw a line (lets go with blue) it draws a white line, though in layer manager it says i'm drawing a blue line. when you click, then rt click the line, go to properties it says the line is drawn "by block" once i switch it to "by layer" the proper colors come up. I am altering a drawing so its easier for me to draw in a different color to see what i've done and what was already there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using blocks inserted into drawings to provide the background for the drawing which I'm working on. e.g an architects building layout inserted as a block and then used as the background in an electrical layout drawing.
This drawing being used for the background has been edited to remove various details and layers and give a cleaner background to my drawings, and is saved as its own dwg file. It is then insert as a block into numerous drawings for use as the background.
My question is - is there a way the block can be redefined once inserted into a drawing, without having to re-inserting it via the normal insert > block route, which would prompt the 'redefine block' option. I want to do this so that I could make further changes to the dwg file used as the background (such as the architects building layout), and quickly update drawings with this inserted as a block.
I'm currently working in autocad 2011.

When I insert an xref it's to scale 12!; in my model space I have blocks scaled 0.0833 and others to 1 scale! this is weird, every time I insert a block I need to scaled it in the way to adjust it to my drawing. If my drawing it's supposed to be 1 scale.

dynamic block in a drawing - when i make a change in the block editor, it doesn`t apply in the model space although i save all the changes. There is also another dynamic block and this time everything is working properly - all the saved changes appear in the model space. The only difference between the two blocks is that the first one has attributes. I think attributes should not be the reason for not applying changes, but i just don't know.
