AutoCad 2D :: Cannot Purge Unwanted / Unused Linetypes
Oct 26, 2011When I open a new template all the correct linetypes are there and the drawing works fine, I can purge and they are deleted if not in use.
When I copy ANYTHING from one of my existing drawings which contains all these odd linetypes then they all appear in the new drawings and they will not purge.
ANYTHING = Text, blocks, lines... etc.
From reading about similar problems I think it has risesn from Binding/Inserting (I cant remember which one I used) of a Xref orignially from Microstation into a drawing I did about 3 months ago. The linetypes have just stuck around.

Mar 12, 2012I created some custom linetypes. When I copied them over to my drawing, the text in the linetypes came in extemely large. I really need to get this figured out as I am setting up a template for a new customer, and they want all these included.

Photoshop :: Using Crop Tool To Remove Unused Pixels / Artboard
Aug 23, 2012I have a clipped image that I've placed a drop shadow on (using layer styles) on a transparent background. I want to quickly use the crop tool to remove any un-used pixels or artboard.
I tried to activate "show the layer edges", but it does not account for the layer style/drop shadow I've placed and also it goes away when you start to use the crop tool itself. So this doesn't really work.
Is there another way to do this? Other than eyeballing it? I want the image too be cropped as tightly as possible, but I do not want to tight too tight and cut of the drop shadow.

There are way too many “blocks” in the file, about 700 in all. Of these 700, more then 600 of them aren’t even being used anymore.

Jan 4, 2013I'm having a small problem with linetypes that are not being used nor will they purge from a drawing. I believe that all started with the binding of an xref but now the xref has been removed along with just about everything else other than simple geometry and some text. The linetypes will not purge. For instance, if I take a standard "new" dwt file that has no problems and copy anything from an "infected" drawing to the dwt, the infectious linetypes will now appear in the dwt. And when I say anything, I mean anything. i can draw a new circle/line/point on the "0" layer and copy that new item into the clean dwt and it will take along with it the unwanted linetypes.
I have seen a similar post about linetypes not purging. And have tried the wblock solution with now luck. I have tried recover along with anything else that I could think of. Again the drawing doesn't have any xrefs and even newly drawn items, when copied, will become infected by the unwanted line types.
Also, the linetypes that are being left behind do have the "$0$" within the name. But also to mention the only ones being left behind are "powerline" and "phantom",

Oct 20, 2013I am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.

After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).
My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.
I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.
What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?
AutoCAD 2010 :: New Linetypes Appeared / Cannot Delete
Mar 21, 2012Today I noticed 6 or 7 linetypes that have appeared in every drawing I open and cannot be deleted.
They include "Amzigzag" " Amconstr" "ACISOTGB" and others.
If I delete everytjing in my drawing and purge the linetypes are still there. They even appear if I load old drawings that din't have these linetypes initially.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Missing Linetypes - No Options
Feb 26, 2013For some reason all of my linetypes have disappeared, and even when I go to Load, there are no options. The only linetypes available are lines and dashed lines, and I have a fence linetype but it does not show the circular pattern in the fence. How can I get these back?

So using design centre i can drag and drop linetypes into a standard drawing but what i really want to do is export these custom linetypes into a .lin file

Oct 22, 2013If I start autocad and draw a line then change its linetype from continuous to Fenceline2 it shows up like it's supposed to, a line with small squares in it. I can also change it's linetype to Fenceline1 and the linetype shows up just fine with the line and small circles in it.
But when I call up some existing autocad drawings that have lines with the Fenceline1 or Fenceline2 linetypes assigned to them, the small boxes or circles are missing from the linetypes. When you type linetype at the command prompt the linetypes are listed in the dialog box, but for some reason they are not showing up right in the existing drawing. When I type linetype, and hit the load button, and browse to my acad.lin file and select it, I get an error message of Bad Definition for linetype Fenceline1 and another for Fenceline2 and another for Batting etc.
So why are these Complex linetypes not working in the Existing drawing but work fine in the just call up autocad empty drawing, and how do I fix them to work in the existing drawing?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Linetypes Showing Up Solid (on Screen And When Plotted)
Oct 15, 2013We recieved some drawings from a client for updating. The Pneumatic, System Link and Heat Trace lines all show up solid in the drawings when I open them up in AutoCAD 2012. We tried opening them in AutoCAD 2004 and are experiencing the same issue. In the Linetype Manager menu, under Description, the linetypes appear correct. Under Appearance, Heat Trace and Pneumatic appear solid and System Link appears dashed (just as they do in the drawing itself).
Here's the kicker. A co-worker has AutoCAD 2004 on his laptop and everything shows up and plots out just fine.

Jul 24, 2012I can not get certain linetypes to start with the same dash length, see attached. The linetype will start with a longer dash then the stated length, depending on the length of the pline segment. Is there a way to fix this?

Feb 9, 2012In 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities.Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
AutoCAD .NET :: Remove VBA From Drawing
Jan 9, 2014We have just upgraded Autocad from 2008 to 2014. Most of our drawing have an embeded VBA content in them. When we open the drawings we get a notice to "Convert, Download or Continue". We know what this OLD content is and wish to remove it completely. We would rather not download the VBA modules, for this will remove the warning all together.
Is there a way to remove the VBA content?

AutoCAD 2010 :: No Longer Copy / Past One Item From One Drawing To Separate Drawing
Dec 10, 2013Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.

Sep 11, 2012My Autocad has started a new behavior. When (in Win7) I double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer, Autocad opens the drawing file and also starts a new drawing, all in the same session of Autocad. Is there some system variable or Windows variable that controls this?
