View 1 RepliesI have a drawing that has hundreds of text styles that do not seem to be used by anything that I cannot purge. I have even deleted everything in the entire drawing, and it still says that the text styles are in use. Is there a way to override the purge since I know that the text is not in use.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had a user ask why some dimension styles cannot be purged even if all the dimensions are deleted from the project.
Most probably the dimension style is used in a family that is loaded in the project.
When you select all dimension instances in the entire project, it will not select those included in the families. But the purge function will 'see' that it is still used in a family and therefore it will not be listed in the purge dialog.
So you will have to find in which family the dimension style is used.
I don't think there is an easy way to do it. I would make a copy of the project and then delete a bunch of families until the dimension style can be purged, then refine the research until to find the family that contains the dimension style.
We have a problem in our office. In some of our drawings we keep getting a lot of unwanted linetypes and text styles. Nobody is sure where they originated.
We have tried this method in getting rid of them but it doesnt work. [URL]
See attached file.
Same applies with the text styles.
When I purge a drawing, the text styles are not a selectable option (as if there are no purgeable text styles). if i use (-purge), it will purge the unused text styles. I can also go into the Styles dialog box and delete the styles. It happens in all drawings and nobody else in the dept has the problem. I can't find any settings that would exclude any items from the purge dialog box as well. Autocad 2012? windows 7 64 bit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a new template all the correct linetypes are there and the drawing works fine, I can purge and they are deleted if not in use.
When I copy ANYTHING from one of my existing drawings which contains all these odd linetypes then they all appear in the new drawings and they will not purge.
ANYTHING = Text, blocks, lines... etc.
From reading about similar problems I think it has risesn from Binding/Inserting (I cant remember which one I used) of a Xref orignially from Microstation into a drawing I did about 3 months ago. The linetypes have just stuck around.
I have a large xref from a client that is causing me some grief. When I open it, I get a message about it having over 5,000 annotative scales (seriously!). What do I need to do to get rid of them? I'm not a big fan of xref's & things like this make me like them even less!

Is there a safe way to purge any unused media?
I received a file (exported from datacad) with apx. ~1000 dimension styles. I selected all dimensions and changed their style to a new style. Now I want to delete the old styles, but Autocad says they are used. I tried purging, but it doesn't work.

I have seen this used for purge (vla-purgeall File) and (vla-AuditInfo File T) for audit can we somethging like this with purgestyles or some how echo off the dialog that comes up. seemslike purgng styles should be just as simple a an audit or purge, but is seem more complex.
How do I remove unused linetypes from drawing

i want to remove all the printers i don't use from the plot > printerlist (also system printers). how can i do it?
I just moved from CS4 to CS6 illustator. I'm trying to remove the unused swatches in my swatch pallet but do not see this as an option when I click on the menu in the upper right corner of the window.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm finishing a project but to keep my HD a little bit clean I would like to remove the unused video and photo,
I know that you can do this one by one, but if you don't document the used parts how to identify the used and unused ones?
I have a clipped image that I've placed a drop shadow on (using layer styles) on a transparent background. I want to quickly use the crop tool to remove any un-used pixels or artboard.
I tried to activate "show the layer edges", but it does not account for the layer style/drop shadow I've placed and also it goes away when you start to use the crop tool itself. So this doesn't really work.
Is there another way to do this? Other than eyeballing it? I want the image too be cropped as tightly as possible, but I do not want to tight too tight and cut of the drop shadow.
Is it possible to edit the menu options to remove those items I will never use ? If so then how ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a request from an Architect to detach, purge and remove links from my model every time before I upload. I used to clean up received models (MEP 2008-2010) thinking it would increase performance. It's been a years since I have done this and my model performance behaves no differently. Is there any validity to his claims that this is beneficial on the Architectural side?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with a bunch of layers that cannot be deleted since they are nested in block definitions. However, the blocks are not in use and cannot be purged. I think it is because they are referenced for point styles, that are also not in use. Is there a way to delete the point style in order to clear these layers and blocks?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy old boss started up his own company and I am wanting to create dim styles and text styles for this said company. Right now, we use ones that have been carried over in projects from previous employers, and they are driving me nuts. Even when I worked at said employer, i always thought things could be handle much simpler than what they had in place.
creating Dim styles and Text styles that we can use from here forward. My problem is, I havent created one since school and forgot all about how too
I am using autocad civil 3d 2012 and know they have annotative dimensions and what not, so can these be used to make life simpler?
In other words, can I create one dim style that can be used in different projects/sheets that have different scales?and last but not least, the great old debate, is it easier to create dim styles for annotating in model space or just create one and do all my annotating in paper space?
how to sort (alphabetically, for instance) the Graphic and Text styles in the Graphic and Text Docker? I need the styles "Roads-county", "Roads-State" & "Roads-US" near each other and "apples" listed first.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I want to establish a new annotative text style, and I'm in the Text Styles dialog box, in the "Size" box, why will it not let me enter a Paper Text Height of 3/32"??? Every time I try it defaults to either 1/16" or 1/8". I have checked the Annotative box.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't find information for how a block's text is utilized in a style. Here are some details. I have a unitless block with a non annotative text size of 10. This block is part of a style with a size 'use drawing scale' of .12. At 40 scale, it inserts at 4.8 size. If I change the text size to 8 it inserts at 4.8. If I hcange the text size to 5, it inserts at 3.
My question is how are the annotation scale, block text size, and style insert size tied together? OR are there other variables influencing the scaling? I have attached a screen shot of some of my unofficial tests.

I just upgraded from AutoCAD LT 2005 to AutoCAD LT 2012. I commonly used a font that, on the 2005 version, was called a1.shx. It has been replaced, on the 2012 version, with archstyl.shx. When I go to "Manage Text Styles", under the "Font Name" there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it before the font name "archstyl.shx". I am assuming this means that the font is not currently available on my system because it is replaced with the simplex.shx (which I read was the default alternate font under "substitute fonts" in the users guide). There is not a font style on my current system that suffices as a replacement to the font I used on the 2005 version of AutoCAD LT. Is there anyway to import the old font to AutoCAD 2012? Is there a way to put new fonts on my system so that I can find an adequate replacement?

I've found nearly everything I need to draw my tables, but cannot find how to set the text styles for the Title, Header and Data cells.
There must be a way, but it is hidden under an obscure method or property title which I can't identify or find on the internet or in the Object Browser.
How do I change the text style for one layer only? I already have some text in one font on a layer but now I want to create lables in a different font but when I change the text style while that layer is active both layers change.

My some autocad files were slowed down. For example i wait about 10 seconds when i edit a text.
Afterwards i see too many text styles in format/text styles command. i want to delete text styles but i can't.
it says "style in use, can't be deleted". I dont know where these text styles come from. Other files when they are infected with the virus, such as. Also have $ signs in text style names.
Instead of adding text as a prefix or suffix i would like to know if it is possible aswell to remove text from within text: For example:
I have these texts "I am not good", "he is not good", "what not to be" And i would like to remove the word "not" from all selected text so i would get "i am good", "he is good" , "what to be". The set word not will always be the same, so there is no need for user string input.
