View 1 RepliesWhen I insert a X-ref overlay, everything seems to work, but giant cross hairs with a circles appear dotted all around on the X-refed drawing, similar to spot levels (minus the hatch).
Attached an image X-ref image.jpg
How to stop this or why it seems to be scaling up the crosshairs .
I inserted a dwg created with Autocad LT 2004 into a MS Word 2010 document using: Insert | Object | Create from file. The result is the desired drawing is inserted but, in addition, the template used to create the dwg is also included and visible as if it is an additional layer. How to keep this from happening?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with an overlay and widening C3D 2012 project. The sub assembly I have chosen is processing with the corridor datum surface cutting into the existing road surface, as would happen with a “milling” section (which I don’t want), I need it to overlay onto the existing surface only, with a nominal minimum thickness of 4” . I think this sub assembly is drawing the datum surface from the datum point of the widening on one side to the datum point of the widening on the other side, not sampling the "bottom" of the overlay surface.
See attached screen shot. Also attached are screen shots for some of the sub assembly and corridor parameters for my current settings. I am using the “overlaywidenmatchslope1” and “basicsideslopecutditch” subassemblies.
I have tried changing the sample point offsets and the insert point offsets without fixing this problem. I have not added any additional alignments for saw-cutting yet as I am trying to keep it simple until I get the assembly to process correctly with a fixed width.
I looked at trying the “overlaywidenmatchslope2” subassembly, but it is for non-crowned roads and would not work for this project. Are some of my parameters wrong? Is there another subassembly that I should be using?
I have brought in Civil 3D data via sdf (points and plots/parcels) and have done an intersect query but the area of the original plot and resulting intersection are the same.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two set of points with O.D. attached (points_1:data_1 and points_2:data_2). I want each point of the first set get the O.D. of the NEAREST point of the second set. Something like "point overlay". The problem is that AutoCAD Map can't overlay point topologies, and that makes sense, since entities don' t actually overlap.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a project where I am removing existing asphalt pavement and overlaying new pavement. I am changing the existing profile and cross-slope to tie-in to the existing profile and cross-slope. know of a mill and overlay subassembly that will allow you to tie the edge to a profile or feature line?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to create a new block based on a existing block(need the same shape), then overlay on top of the existing one.
1. create a new block based on the existing one. the existing block is solid but I need to give pattern to new one
2. overlay on top of the existing one
I new how to create a block generally, but doesn't know how to create based on an existing one.
Would be interested in a strategy for a varying depth overlay, i.e. where the overlay assembly follows a centerline design profile rather than a pavement depth up from existing grade. Then the trick would be for the software to calculate the asphalt volume between the new top surface and the existing roadway surface.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to overlay a large area,I have a design profile grade that I must use. I need the new edge of the overlay pavement to be 2" above the existing as long as the pavement cross slope is between 1% to 1.5% . If the slope goes above or below the min or max I need it to take the min or max. If I use the overlaymillandlevel2 I am unable to get it to use the overlay thickness since i am using a profile.

I'm on a help desk where we have several users who run Win7, but can't publish any projects that have a TIFF overlay. Let me correct that. It prints, but that TIFF overlay is not included.
They print to a Xerox 6204 Wide Format printer, and every single Win7 user has this problem (32 and 64 bit). The one person that still runs XP doesn't have this problem. This sounds like a driver problem to me, but we've reinstalled the drivers and still no change.
I am a GIS person and not familiar too much with AutoCAD. As you may know we can easily overlay GIS fles in GIS software as much as we would like to have , while having same coordinate system. Now my question is , Is it possible to overlay( Or Open, Add, Insert,..) a dgf file into an exiting one?
For Example, I have received 4 dxf file which they have all same units and coordinate for Pit Design and I just want to have all of them in one dxf. How I can merge them? I saw a hint on web for Copy Base Point but it was too complicated.
where i could find an overlay texture to imitate wires.Want to apply to a solid so as to give the appearance of "electrical windings".

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am overlaying and widening an existing road, however the assembly is not behaving as I would like it too. Here is the cross section below, the widening, overlay and day lighting portions appear correct, how the Datum surface is off.
DATUM SURFACE - The datum surface is not following the existing ground in between the two road widening pavement portions. You can see the datum surface as a red line connecting the two paved widening below the existing crown of the road. I would expect the datum surface to follow bottom links of the overlay as well up through the crown, but this is not the case.
EARTHWORKS CUT/FILL SURFACE - The earthworks surface shows that the area between the existing crown and the unexpected datum link is being calculated cut/fill (cut presumably) which it shouldn't be.
ASSEMBLY BEING USED: Perhaps I am misusing the subassemblies, or link codes need to be modified.
I have (2) separate AutoCAD files; (1) topo, which is at 1"=40'-0" scale, and (1) master site plan from the arch, which is at 1"=30'-0" scale; how do i 'merge' the (2) files and adjust the scales so they match?

The problem I'm having is the text in the Autocad file scales up and becomes a thick font.....I can't see or use the geometry under the text (text becomes a thick wall above with the geometry below.
The text seems to have a life of it's own..otherwise the geometry is fine. I know there are layer settings that can be turned on/off within factory.
I created a new file and stripped out the text from the AutoCad file to be able to use in Factory.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTrying to use overlay to prevent some circular xrefs. When the civil plan is xreffed as an overlay, the images and pdf's xreffed in the civil file show up in the file it is xreffed into. As an overlay, this should not happen? the problem is that that both the civil and piping drawing has the same pdf xreffed and it is doubled up. Does overlay not work for images and pdf's? is there something else?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all of my data in an Oracle database (Gas Enterprise Model). I need to join the pipe (Line) with the meter (point) in order to have the attributes of both for a report.
A query on geometry in Oracle definitely did not work and doing an overlay analysis in Map3D strips the attribute data when I create a buffer. There is nothing to join on for the tables, A Network analysis will not work because the lines are for services and don't have their connected distribution.
I have a lot of drawings that someone inserted the Xref's, but the Xref's are "Attached, and Full Path"; however, I need to change them to "Overlay, and Relative Path".
