VideoStudio :: Install And Run Two Versions?
Aug 6, 2013I have installed and am using Corel VideoStudio Pro X4. Can I install Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 on the same computer so that both versions are working at the SAME TIME, WITHOUT CONFLICTS due to both versions being installed on the same computer?? My OS is windows 7 and my HP desktop has an Intel I7 processor.
For that matter, can I install the demo version of VideoStudio Pro X6 without causing conflict with my existing VideoStudioPro X4?

AutoCad :: Running 2 Versions At Same Time?
Jul 5, 2011I installed the trial version of autocad 2012 yesterday and it worked fine when it stated after installation, but today i am unable to start it my old MEP 2008 starts up instead , i do not have the option to start 2012 there are no autocad 2012 short cuts on desk top ( I'm sure there was after instalation ? ) and it isnt in the start menu or the open with menu, i can see autocad 2012 in the program files but no exe files, how to recover the desktop short cuts ?
Is it a conflict with MEP 2008 ?

Mar 28, 2013I am having an issue at my office when I open or save a drawing (I'm using Acad 2013) people using 2011 Acad Architecture who later access the file cannot use their tool palette or detail component manager. The tool palette will pop up, but when they try to drag something out of it, there is an unspecified error. The detail component manager in Architecture will not even pop up for some reason.

Mar 14, 2013I have CS2 Premium which I'm running on an older PowerPC Mac (G5 - Dual 2.3 GHz ) running OS 10.4.11. I've had this setup for many many years (registered/activated with Adobe) but suddenly one day I could no longer launch my Photoshop app: when I clicked on the Pshop icon it would start the launch (open) procedure ... and then almost instantly it would quit (in just a few seconds ... before the application even got to the 'title/credit' screen).
I've recently tried uninstalling CS2 (everything except Acrobat) and I ended up doing a manual uninstall of Version Cue. I've been on Macs for 20+ years so figured this would be a pretty straightforward procedure - uninstall -> reinstall and then back to work. Nope.
I'm attempting a fresh installation direct from the original CS2 CDs. In any event, when I try to (re)install CS2 - and after going through the standard screens with Adobe's usage terms agreement and installation hard disk selection - I arrive at the screen where one selects which application(s) to install by checking the various boxes (or alternately, to install the entire suite) but the 'Adobe Photoshop CS2/Adobe ImageReady CS2' line and checkbox are grayed out, so it will not allow me to check them and continue with the Photoshop installation process.

May 3, 2013I would like to use iLogic to switch my design (rather complex assembly) between the 'full' version, a 'simple' version and a 'FEA' version. I'm learning Inventor step by step and did not studies the making of drawings yes.
I'm not sure if it is ok to use iLogic for this purpose because I'm afraid my drawings will update to the simple' or 'FEA' versions. This is not what I want. And when using the 'FEA' version, will the FEA information get lost when I switch back to the 'full' or 'simple' versions?
Or in other words: Is it wise to use iLogic for this purpose?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Slow Over Network All Versions
Aug 14, 2013We're an IT company that installed a new NAS for all the data in a architectural office.They are using AutoCad 2011 / 2012 / 2013LT / Revit 2011
Since we installed the new NAS and copied all the data from the old one, opening and saving files takes too long. Sometimes the files hang while regenerating. Saving can take up to more then 4 minutes.
Other applications, for example photoshop, work fine. Copying files from the local disk to the network drive, even moren than 100MB works fine.All computers have windows 7 and the NAS is from Synologie.We tried reinstalling AutoCad but that doesn't solve the problem.We tried setting the savefidelity to 0 but that doesn't solve the problem.

Jun 5, 2012I've been tasked with creating electronic versions of some older AutoCAD drawings for which only hard copies exist. There are a lot of them, so in an effort to expedite the process I thought I would try to scan the drawings and scale them appropriately so that I could just go through and trace the lines. I was planning on doing some sanity-checks of the measurements in the AutoCAD and actual drawings as well. This would save me the time of having to measure the length and angle between each of the lines on the drawing (to which there are wild variations) before drawing them in AutoCAD.
The problem is that these drawings were printed on some really large paper (Ex: 4ft by 6ft), so I can't really use a desktop scanner. My thought was that I could mount the drawings on a wall and take photographs of them using my camera instead. I would use the photographs to trace lines in AutoCAD.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Content Center File Versions
Feb 15, 2012By default Content Center creates the sub-directories 2012, 2011, 2010 etc. to store the generated content center instance files. I have never changed this behavior. Why is it required to maintain these files in the existing separate directories? I don't intend to use a previous release of Inventor once upgraded.
I can see that there is a good possibility of generating the same content center instance in multiple directories ie: if you created a 1/2" nut in the 2011 directory and then there is a good chance of doing it again in the 2012 directory.
I would like to migrate all the files in those directories to my current release 2012 then place them in a common "generic" directory without separation into yearly subdirectories. Would this cause any serious issues?
I know I'll probably be resolving links for a while, but I can deal with that as long as Content Center still works after that. I would of course change the default location to my "generic" location.

parts are not interoperable within the software. There cant be that much difference between a 2013 & 2014 file surely.....

May 4, 2012I have just upgraded to AutoCAD 2013. Now I have one AutoCAD 2013 and five copies of AutoCAD LT 2009. A strange problem started ovccuring after starting using of AutoCAD 2013. Quite a lot of files done with LT 2009 are not opening in AutoCAD 2013. When you tru to open this file, nothing happens and a blank new drawing is opened by AutoCAD 2013.
I have DWG TrueView from release 2010 to 2012. These files opened perfectly well in 2010 & 2012. So I downloded DWG TrueView 2013 and installed it to check whter my AutoCAD 2013 installation was faulty. These files do not open in DWG TrueView 2013 also.
I tried exporting the file to DXF in LT 2009 and then tried to open the DXF file in 2013. It gave a message that it could not read the file. The odd fact is that it is not happening with every file done in LT 2009. Some open and some do not.
In my opinion, this seems to be a serious bug in 2013. Any body else experinecing this? I am unable to attach any file as all the files are larger than 2 MB even after zipped and I cannot upload such a big file here.

Feb 15, 2013I'm trying to work in some drawings that we got from another employee working in a different office using Civil. When I open the drawing, I get a message that says:
This drawing contains newer versions of objects
To work with the newer objects in a limited fashion, enable proxy graphics and then resave the drawings in the current version. You can also export the drawing to AutoCAD; however, be aware this permanently converts AEC objects to basic AutoCAD objects.
I tried typing in PROXYGRAPHICS and turning it to 0, then resaved it and closed it. When I opened it again, it still gives me the same message. I had the person that sent us the drawings resave it to different versions of AutoCAD. I still get the message.
The biggest problem I'm having with these drawings is that the units are set incorrectly for our use. They are set to civil standards. Like, when I xref in our titleblock, it comes in as being 3 inches long instead of 3 feet long. When I type in UNITS into the command line to change them, I get the message: Command not allowed because drawing contains objects from a newer version of this application. I tried usnig the -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command, but I get the same message.
AutoCad :: MTEXT Shifts In Different Versions (2007 And 2012)
Nov 21, 2011I have a number of drawings which I believe were originally created in ACAD 2012 but have since been edited with ACAD 2007.
The drawings contain hatched areas. Within each hatched area is a MTEXT entity with background mask enabled within a rectangle. The idea is that the background mask on mtext wipes out the hatch below for legibility.
When opened in 2007 all mtext entities seems to be centred within the rectangle and the background mask fills the rectangle as intended (see below).

When this same dwg file is opened with ACAD 2012 the mtext entities shift position and the size of the background mask is altered (see below).

When trying to save the user gets the following error message "One or more objects in the drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created."
I did some searching in the discussion groups and it appears that this is a known/common issue with autcad lt 2013. Is there a work around to saving it in a format that older autocad applications can view?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Migrating Settings From One Computer To Another With Differing Versions?
May 8, 2012One of our drafters recently got a new computer. We installed AutoCAD 2013 on the new machine. He was using AutoCAD 2012 on the old machine.
After exporting the settings from 2012, I attempted to import them into 2013. The migrate tool throws an error that insinuates you must have the old version installed on the same computer in order to migrate the settings. The import tool states that it can only import settings from the same version of AutoCAD.
How does one go about importing settings from one computer running AutoCAD 2012 onto another computer running AutoCAD 2013?
(In particular, the user is looking to migrate over his custom tool palette.)
