Is there a way to use the stretch command like this?First I select the object. type stretch, when i make my selection window the stretch points of only that object get selected and not of other polylines which are inside my selection box.
View 4 RepliesMany many times have i used the stretch command without any dramas. I now have a new PC with AUTOCAD 2010. Since the upgrade my stretch command seems to act differently.
If i go to stretch a polyline with some sort of arc joined. no part of the arc inside the window will move.

Why does it now stretch in this manner?
Whenever I use the move command on a line or series of lines that are touching other lines, the lines that aren't part of my selection move with that one line. cad-movecommand.jpg Here's a series of screenshots showing what I mean. I can't move just that line without moving the other lines around it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command.When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?
On ACAD versions higher than 2005 the STRETCH command does not work properly. The problem happens when selecting the items from the left to right. The item is MOVED instead of STRETCHED. It works normally when selecting item from Right to Left. However I need it to work from Left to Right so that I can individually select the item that I want to stretch. Because of this, I am still using 2005. Both 2009 and 2012 have this BUG, making them un-usable for my applications. I just got a new computer with 2012 version only, but I can't use it. I am trying to get 2005 installed on it now.

Basically I want to beable to apply the stretch command to a 3d pipe block which has the internal bore removed so its a hollow tube. I want to be able to have it as a block but also the be able to stretch it at either end.

I have created a dynamic block. Herein I placed stretch actions parameter set to strecht parts including anotative text.
Now the block seems to work fine.
- When I am in modelspace and I change the annotation scale the text is changed correct
- When I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value of the dynamic block everything goes fine.
But when I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value in one of the annotiaton scales and then switch to another scale my text is changed annotativly (this is what I want) but the stretch value is set back to default (which should be at the changed value).
I recently purchased a new desktop computer and wanted to migrate my custom settings from my older laptop using the export utility. I successfully exported the zip file but when importing to the new computer, I get this message: "This file is not an AutoCad LT2012 - English Migration Package".
I have repeated the export to several different media (flash drive, cloud folders) with the same result when attempting to import the file.
I am trying to move to a new computer and when I try to export the settings from my old computer using the 'Export AutoCAD 2012 Settings' command I get the following:
An error occured during the xport process. Please try again.
ERROR: There was am error generating the XML file.
Environment:
Windows XP Pro SP3
MS Office 2007
AutoCAD 2012 (part of AutoCAD Revit Architecture Suite 2012)
Otherwise, I have no problems with AutoCAD. I cannot work without my own AutoCAD setup?
I'm working with some clients and I, myself, am rather new to AutoCAD. We are using AutoCAD LT 2010. I found, in this forum, how to export custom settings. We exported settings and then imported them on a new computer. All seemed well with one minor exception:
He mentioned that every thing exported as far as window settings go, but within each applet (I'm not sure what it's called when you replace the ribbon with drawing applets), some of the icons weren't in the location where he had it. He reported that his copy icon was in the location that his "Cut" icon was.
How or where do you set the default value under the Edit Command Settings for, say, AddContourLabeling? Right now it is saying that I'm overriding the default to our company standard, but I want the default to be the company standard not the "Standard" style. This goes for all command settings. I'm sure the default is set somewhere.

Is there a way to save these settings on the file such that if we open this file in another computer then we don't need to set them again?
In other words, why aren't the “Default settings” “Option settings” saved on the file the same way the “Drafting Settings: like sanps, Osanps” are?
We loaded up C3D 2013 a month or so ago. I exported my user profile (Options>Profiles>Export) from C3D 2012 and loaded it into 2013. Now the profile will not stay loaded. I have to reload it every time I startup C3D. It also doesn't hold my view cube settings or my panes.

I installed ACAD2012 but never got the Migrate custom settings box upon opening ACAD2012 for the 1st time.
I reviewed Autodesk Help that ensured me that I could also find it thru:

Epic fail... all that showed up there was export and import autoCAD 2012 settings.
Where oh where could my migration tools box have gone? Why is it not there?
(FYI, this happened to us when we upgraded from 2010 to 2011 also but we thought we had done something wrong so we eventually just manually transferred files over. That was very time consuming and we do not want to perform that exercise again.)
I am upgrading to 2012 from 2008. Will all of my custom settings/ linetypes/ blocks, etc. automatically transfer over?

Installed Acad LT 2011 64 bit.
Did an export of custom settings from a Windows 7 64 bit LT 2011 installation, imported those to the new Windows 8 LT 2011 installation. This was done using the Start>Programs menu. (I ditched the "Metro" stuff.)
The setup looks mostly the same, but when I go to use it, the icons don't match the commands. I have toolbars down the left and right sides with many icons. The icon for Hatch runs the Polygon command. The Move icon runs the Offset command. Lots of them are screwed up.
The ribbon commands along the top seem to be OK.
I have created a dll that I can run from the command line just fine. However, I have been asked to do the following:
When the user opens a drawing a button will appear. When the user clicks on the button the command contained in the dll will be executed.
I don't know how to do this and haven't been able to find much on this. I am using AutoCAD 2011.
What to do to change the settings so you can select an item or items and then type in the command you wnat to use? This seems to have changed between Autocad 2012 and 2013 and only executes command if typed in first then itmes selected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have made a large amount of custom parts in a systems furniture drawing I am doing. I made the mistake of putting them all on the same layer and am now realizing i need them to be on separate layers. I tried to just make new layers and then assign the new layers to my custom parts. It acts like it does it but then the parts behave as if they were still on the common layer that i originally created them on. Is there a way to get the custom parts to only be linked to the new layer and not act like they are still on the original layer? My other thought was if i made a new layer, then drew my custom symbol again using that layer... could I then somehow tell my custom part to now use this new symbol that is on the new layer instead of the current symbol that is on the bad layer? I am trying to avoid having to completely start over creating all my parts again because there are at least 30 and I had already put in all of the options, atriubtes, part numbers, pricing, etc... and it would be very time consuming to start that over.

I'm running LT 2014 at Win7 x64 and have a problem with Xerox WF 6604 custom size paper settings.
Simply say when I change custom printer size at the printer's driver settings and confirm all dialogs nothing happend and LT use default settings. No dialog about new or temporary PC3 appear so looks that ACAD doesnt know about change at the printer driver?
This problem isn't continual but, for example, I printed something from the same dwg twice, but when third one change was set the very problem will appear and ACAD doesn't register changes.

In AutoCAD LT 2013, I created a custom command called Special fillet :

I created two aliases at the end of acadlt.pgp :
SF, *SFILLET
C, *COPY
When i type C, it works fine (just a test) but although it appears correctly in the Command prompt, SF doesn't work and it keeps telling me : UNKNOWN COMMAND "SF"
Last thing, if I create an icon in a toolbar with the special fillet command : it works fine...

I'm trying to write a simple Custom Command that sets any layer that matches "$-*" to a specific color. But as soon as AutoCAD sees the $, it thinks I'm trying to do a DIESEL expression. Supposedly, the quote marks specify that the enclosed characters should be treated as plain text, but that doesn't happen.Here's what I've got:
