View 9 RepliesIs there a way to have my custom settings load when exporting a .jpg every time, without having to use the dropdown and select mine every single export?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move to a new computer and when I try to export the settings from my old computer using the 'Export AutoCAD 2012 Settings' command I get the following:
An error occured during the xport process. Please try again.
ERROR: There was am error generating the XML file.
Environment:

AutoCAD 2012 (part of AutoCAD Revit Architecture Suite 2012)
Otherwise, I have no problems with AutoCAD. I cannot work without my own AutoCAD setup?
In 2012, when I click on a viewport and try and to change the scale, in either quick properties or the properties window custom scale. AutoCAD only allows the standard scale settings, not a custom one. I think this is just a matter of some setting, but do not recall it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe are curently using ACAD2011.
I installed ACAD2012 but never got the Migrate custom settings box upon opening ACAD2012 for the 1st time.
I reviewed Autodesk Help that ensured me that I could also find it thru:
<start...Autodesk mech 2012Migrate custom settingsmigrate from a previous release>
Epic fail... all that showed up there was export and import autoCAD 2012 settings.
Where oh where could my migration tools box have gone? Why is it not there?
(FYI, this happened to us when we upgraded from 2010 to 2011 also but we thought we had done something wrong so we eventually just manually transferred files over. That was very time consuming and we do not want to perform that exercise again.)
Just started new job, with PC running ACAD2010. My toolbars appear blank, with no icons. How do I get the icons to show?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a new MEP engineer starting and we purchased MEP 2013.
He has some custom toolbars in ACA 2011 and would like to transfer them from one machine to the new machine.
How do I do that? Can I use the CUI dialog box to transfer it?
I finally cleared enough space on my creaky old PC to install 2013 and once again am having trouble with that CUI.
The ribbon is useless to me, partly because it contains nothing relevent (most of the commands I use are legacy) and partly because this creaky PC can't handle it. My usual workspace is set to toolbars (some custom) and menus.
I exported my workspace from 2012 including all the menus and toolbars.
I imported that cuix file into 2013. Everything is there listed as it should be, but when I select the workspace and click apply I have neither toolbars nor menus showing (well I have a tiny toolbar with just new, open and save on it, and another that appears to be related to survey, but none of the ones I want or need.)
What do I have to do to get my menus and toolbars back? they haven't abolished them completely? This PC cannot handle the ribbon and my every request for an upgrade is denied due to politics.
I loaded a partial customization file by CUI dialog. I would like to programmatically hide / show the menus and toolbars, so when you restart AutoCAD to be permanently hidden or visible.

that customization group already exists.
I have two boxes here where something seems to create a acfusion.cuix, an aliasconcept.cuix and a acetmain.cuix. If I unload them and restart, I dont get the error but the have been created. Could a startup lisp be creating these? I havent done anything with lisp files. the target in the shortcut doesnt seem to be pointing to a lisp file.
We dont need these cuix files how can I stop them from being created on start up?

How do I migrate my Custom Tool Palettes and Custom Toolbars from Civil 3D 2012 to Civil 3D 2014?
What files do I need to create or copy to transfer to 2014?
My Custom Tool Palette consists of Block Symbols, Border Sheets, Scales and Seals, Lisp Routines etc.
My Custom Toolbar is just a number of standard cad commands I've put together in my toolbar like Revision Cloud, Layer Isolate, Match Properties, Attach Image, etc.
Do I need to export out my cui file, do I need to create a Profile file, do I need to setup the same directory structure naming and copy my files into those same directory names?
Or is there some easy hidden Magic Button in Civil 3D that you click on and it does the rest?
Is it possible to use a load statement in a profile to automatically load/unload a cuix?
View 7 Replies View Related“Command” and “Option” settings in the AutoCAD...Is there a way to save the “Command settings” and the “Option settings” in the file but not on the “AutoCAD program”?
Examples:
The default of the “Isolate” command is “Lock and fade” For me I prefer to switch the this setting to be “Off”The default value of the command “FIELDEVAL” is 13. For me I prefer to switch the this setting to be “Off”The default setting of the “default mode” is “shortcut menu”. For me I prefer to switch this setting to be “repeat last command” ( I go to options>>user preferences”>>Windows standard behavior>>Right click customization>> default mode>>repeat last command. Is there a way to save these settings on the file such that if we open this file in another computer then we don't need to set them again?
In other words, why aren't the “Default settings” “Option settings” saved on the file the same way the “Drafting Settings: like sanps, Osanps” are?
When I created our custom profile ".arg" file, with two custom workspaces along with the OTB workspaces. I set the Auto Publish Settings to publish to PDF on Exit. With 50+ users, each can create thier own workspace for thier liking.
I have some users that like the feature, and others that do not. The ones that do not like the feature, want to turn the feature off.
So the question is if, under each individual workspace, we uncheck the Auto Publish feature, then save that workspace, is the feature turn off for JUST that workspace? Or does it cut the feature off for all workspaces?

I have a dual monitor setup and I maximize acad2011 on monitor 2 and have my toolbars on monitor 1.
I like to have my toolbars floating, but justified to the side with the 'gap' between the montiors so the tool bars fly out and I can see my email or reference docs or whatever on monitor 1 also. Sadly every time I close and re-open acad my toolbars re-justify to the center of monitor 1. I've tried unlocking and locking but that doesn't work. I am using the 'better', errr, excuse me, 'classic' workspace.
I'm old school trying to learn new school! I love using my custom toolbars and abbreviations from the keyboard for calling my autocad commands. I am in the process of learning the uses of the ribbon. I have always used the acad menu, then loaded "partial" custom menus. Is this still possible using the ribbon? Not sure how to do this. I like keeping the custom stuff separate, because we have 5 users with a standard company menu and I like the idea of always going back to the original menu. I suppose my question is how do I use the ribbon, and continue to use my partials also
View 7 Replies View Relatedwe are using A2011, Classic workspace (toolbars) and i have partial menus loaded (custom toolbars).
If i try to add a new toolbar to a custom toolbar, or to add buttons to an existing one, the changes are not saved when i close the customization window.
I am trying to figure out how I can make a block that will show up in a dwf file but not in a pdf file. We issue dwf files with a "Not For Construction" note on them. To print our drawings in house we generate a pdf file. That note should not show up on our hard copies.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHappens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a couple of icons with Greenfish Icon Editor, which works reliably for me, to assign to macros. They were saved as 16 x 16 32-bit icons. But when I try to assign them, they appear larger and I can't fit them into the space allotted for an icon; in other words, they get clipped.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have a Custom CUI Enterprise file that we load in the profile settings (AutoCAD 2008). I transferred it though the CUI Editor and saved it for AutoCAD 2012. When I load it into AutoCAD 2012, the pull down custom pull down menu does not show, with or without the menu bar turned on. I have some partial CUI files that I did the same way. When I load them, and list them in the Main CUI file as such, they show up as expected. I even tried to list the Custom CUI Enterprise file in the same manor, but I get a "read only" type message and it still doesn't show the pull down.
I also thought about transferring it to another CUI file to partial load and not have a Custom CUI Enterprise file.

I have created a custom office standards tool palette for the users, and it is properly loaded on all the machines. The issue is that when the 'Tools' button on the ribbon is pressed, it loads to the 'design tools' palette by default. Most user here have the habit of closing the tool menu after use, and reopening it from the menu - which defaults back to the design tools palette instead of the office standards... which is frustrating when jumping back and forth constantly. I assumed there was an easy way to tell them to set the 'standards' as the default, but I can't seem to find this property anywhere.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn some templates I can't load a custom North arrow. AutoCAD can't find block.
The built-in north Arrows works fine. In a standard template from Autodesk there is no problem.
Wich settings should I change so I can select a block?
I am trying to create a custom palette that will load whenever Autocad loads. The code below works with one exception.
<CommandMethod("gtPalette")> _ Public Sub DoIt() If m_ps = Nothing Then Dim MYGuid As Guid = New Guid("{4AECF36F-C7E9-4C59-B72B-36A98DDA1D24}") m_ps = New Autodesk.AutoCAD.Windows.PaletteSet("gtPalette", MYGuid) myCoordPalette = New UserControl1() m_ps.Add("Coordinate List", myCoordPalette) End If m_ps.Visible = True End Sub
The problem is that my Palette title is now "gtPalette" which I do not want. However if I change
PaletteSet("gtPalette", MYGuid)
to
PaletteSet("GunTech Cogo", MYGuid)
Then what occurs is that when Acad (actually I'm using Civil 3D 2012) start it trys to execute a command called 'GunTech' and then one called "cogo'. Cogo being a valid Civil 3d Command brings up the Cogo dialog. If I then type the command gtPalette it appears in the correct location.
Currently on my development PC the first code works perfect and brings up a palette that even has the correct title of "GunTech Cogo". this info has presumable been saved with the GUID in my previous attempts to get the code to work.
I recently purchased a new desktop computer and wanted to migrate my custom settings from my older laptop using the export utility. I successfully exported the zip file but when importing to the new computer, I get this message: "This file is not an AutoCad LT2012 - English Migration Package".
I have repeated the export to several different media (flash drive, cloud folders) with the same result when attempting to import the file.
