We loaded up C3D 2013 a month or so ago. I exported my user profile (Options>Profiles>Export) from C3D 2012 and loaded it into 2013. Now the profile will not stay loaded. I have to reload it every time I startup C3D. It also doesn't hold my view cube settings or my panes.
View 4 RepliesWe had to migrate from one domain to annother on our network. This meant that each user had to create a new profile.
Before we migrated I tried to back up the user data from the old user but once I am up an running agian all the AutoCad settings are no longer included. I understand you can export those while you are logged in and can see the macros etc. can you simply move the files that store that information (I can still access all the files from that user I just can't login as that user anymore)

When using AdMigrator.exe /reset [see here] you can create a ZIP file with a backup of the user settings. Are there any instructions to restore the user settings from the ZIP file?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created default settings by serial number for my Canon Mark III 1ds which include enabled lens profile corrections. I then created a user preset with these default corrections. Next I imported a folder of RAW images shot with this same Canon camera with the user profile checked as part of the import. When I switch to the Develop module and check the Lens Corrections panel, I see that although it is checked for each file, the actual make, model and profile are not populated.
Is this a bug or am I overlooking something on import? I understand that in LR 4, you can apply specific lens and camera calibration profiles to camera serial numbers (noise reduction etc too).

I'm running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 on Windows 7 Professional. I just got this new computer and the AutoCAD software was recently installed. As I always do when I get a new version of ACAD, I set up my Profile settings within the 'options' menu and save to my personal Profile, and set that profile as current.
Then I pull up all my typical toolbars, Layer manager, Xref manager and all that good stuff to my workspace and save a new workspace with my name, and set that workspace as current.
Now, with this new version of ACAD, every time I restart the program my settings are all gone. Even though my 'options' Profile is still saved in there, it's not set to current, so I have to do that every time. As well as my workspace, which doesn't appear the same way I set it up and saved it as a new workspace:
The ToolSpace, the command bar and the Xref manager disappears every time.
How do you add a custom working space profile to the profile list in CS6.

Some toolbars are not loaded, some are. Another error that crops up is the search paths get lost on occasion. As the computer boots, if autocad is loaded before the network drives have been connected all the paths revert to the C: drive. Why is this issue cropping up so frequently? What would cause a partial profile load?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to save a custom artboard setup with a custom document profile in illustrator cs5? I do technical illustrations and our page size is odd (7.19 x 8.96. It the size that our Framemaker layout is set to.). I have a custom document profile that I use, but I use the grids all the time so that my callouts are spaced out evenly around the art. I would like to have a way to set the artboard up so that the grid will align to the center of the artboard everytime I turn them on. Right now they always start from the top left and when I center art in the center of the page, the grid spacing isn't the same on each side of the art. I just want to be able to open my document profile, turn on my grids, have them start from the center, and I can get down to business. As it is now I have to go into my artboard settings and manually adjust the grid to the center. Small annoyance, but it still annoys me. I have tried to save it a few different ways, but nothing has worked. Maybe there just isn't a way.

My personal settings include:
1. alias
2. autolisp that are loaded in the cui
3. an escape autolisp that is part of the right click context edit menu
4. re-arrangement of short cut menu (i.e addition of dimension linear, dimension aligned, plot)
5. new menu with new macros
6. option profiles
7. plot styles
8. hatches
9. libraries of block
10. palette
11. workspace
I know the list is long and can be longer and most of the time as I switch from one computer to another, there is the same repetitive task of copying, resettings and so on. Are there any effective way to transform an autocad post with all my settings at once, that effectively save all the settings and the files and the blocks and templates and effectively load all of them onto a new working post.
Somewhere it looks impossible, at least in its totality but who knows this may be possible.

It relates to machines which often have different users. I can get ACADM2011 to run for that user by editing the registry and importing keys from a good profile then modifying to user the new users credentials. This is Ok for a fudge fix but not suitable as a final solutions as I have to roll out 2011 to another 90 machines.
All users have full admin rights through a group policy so that is not part of the issue.
What I have noticed is that on machine which will work as expected the secondary installer runs in two steps. The first being the AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 install and then the language pack install. On machines which will fail and have the Profile issue only the language pack install runs. Where does ACAD look to check which causes this first install part to be skipped?

I have a routine that sets user defined osnaps based on a text file.Here is what is an example of user stored osnap settings -

This works great so long as the user is not in the middle of another lisp routine.How can I change this to a transparent command that will work to set osnaps while running another lisp routine?I would like to store it in a toolbar button.
Is there anyway to get the user settings transferred to the new hard drive without the usual export?
The old hard drive is installed as a slave, I can read the data but it will not boot.

Had to get a new hard drive. Using Win XP, LT 2010. Most customization is on server, but I had some tool palettes, and I made one ribbon panel with a few tabs. Old hard drive is still accessible on the computer. Three items I want to copy.
1. Tool palettes - Can I just copy the items from support/icons, and support/palettesinto the same location on the new drive?
2. Will copying the profile.aws to the same location work for the profile? and
3. Where do I copy my custom file for the custom tab & panel?
I have created a dynamic scale bar block that a user can edit two custom properties of (Horizontal Scale and Vertical Exaggeration) and the values on the scale bar will self-adjust after a regen. The block works fine if inserted into a drawing as per normal the normal insert method.
However, the issue I am running into is this:
If the block is inserted into a template drawing that contains our standard company titleblock (again this part works fine), and that layout is then imported into a new drawing using the "From Template..." right-click option on the Model/Layout tabs, the block loses the custom user parameters. Editing the block definition shows that the parameters are there, they just no longer have names or default values and do not appear in the properties window when the block is selected.
Trying to edit the user parameter names in the block definition of this imported copy of the block, just results in receiving an error that I'm attempting to use characters that are not alphanumeric.
I've tried this same procedure with 2013 and the issues still occur. I've tried user parameter names that don't have an underscore in them (just in case that was causing the issue), but again no luck.
I've attached a simpler block that recreates the same problem: Tester.dwg - this is the block that can be inserted into a drawing. It contains two user parameters "Tester" and "Tester_2". Inserting this block into a drawing shows the block works correctly (user parameters are editable from the properties window).Testing.dwg - this is a drawing that contains the above block inserted onto Layout 1. If Layout 1 is imported into a new drawing (using the "From Template..." right click option of the model/layout tabs), then the block no longer functions as it should. The two user parameters are no longer visible in the properties window.
Is there any way to take the settings for one user (windowed mode enabled and toolbar layout) and apply those to all users who then log in to the computer afterwards?
The setup for one user is not carrying over for all users. Is there a way to configure GIMP so that my changes affect all users.
If you create any custom coordinate systems in 2014 products (Civil3D, Map3D) *.CSD files are created in C:Users{user_name}AppDataLocalAutodeskUser Geospatial Coordinate Systems with the additional data in them.
My question is - can you have multiple 'coordsys.csd' files?
The reason for asking is that we are setting up a large number of low distortion projections that are specified by a government roading agency and I figure the best way to distribute these is to create a coordsys.csd with them and sync it out to everyones profile (the location shown above), but there could then be issues if a user then sets up some additional coordinate systems that will only be on their computer, if we altered or expanded the company definitions and sync'd these out again it would overwrite the users ones.
It would be good to be able to have mutilple custom coordinate system files - ones for particular clients, countries, individual users etc.

I am trying to export a user parameter that is a text string to a custom I property. I am able to export other parameters to custom properties that are numarical values. I export check box is missing on the text user parameter.
Is there a way to acomplish this with I-logic?
How to use an embedded cursor (mycursor.cur) via the SetCursor command under user interaction events. I can use built in cursors just not able to get it working with my resource.

I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.
I'm working with a structure profile label style and it seems like the only way to anchor the position of the label is based on offsets from the structure itself... Any way to position the label based on the top of the profile view, so that I could make all of my labels horizontally aligned above the profile view?

While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
I have a group of profiles in a drawing and I want to change how one of the profiles is displayed through the profile view style manager, but I do not want to change how all of the profiles look. Is there a way to change the way a single profile looks without changing all of them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working C3D 2012. I have a proposed alignment and profile design by another firm that I had to tranfer into C3D. I had no problem getting the horizontal alignment to display from a text file. I tried to do the same with the profile by using the 'create a text file and create the profile from file' command. I got the POB, PI's, and POE to display. I then defined the VC. I wanted to verifiy that the profile was indeed accurate compared to what we were provided. So I tried to execute a profile report PVI Station and Curve Report - I keep getting an error that "No FG profiles in dwg".
I know the Proposed profile is indeed set to proposed in the properties. I have noticed that the icon next to the profile I create from the text file is different than the profiles created from scratch.
Is there a way to convert this profile to be recognized as a FG profile?

I try to make curb return profile without profile view like a intersect command.

The intersection wizard makes dynamic EOP profiles based off of the cross slope from the centerline. Well the intersection tool doesn't always work with funky intersection layouts. Is it possible to manually create a dynamic EOP profile based on the cross slope from the centerline profile?
