Jan 6, 2012I am upgrading to 2012 from 2008. Will all of my custom settings/ linetypes/ blocks, etc. automatically transfer over?

Lightroom :: How To Get Custom Default Settings To Enable Lens Profile Corrections Automatically On Import
Jan 20, 2012I have created default settings by serial number for my Canon Mark III 1ds which include enabled lens profile corrections. I then created a user preset with these default corrections. Next I imported a folder of RAW images shot with this same Canon camera with the user profile checked as part of the import. When I switch to the Develop module and check the Lens Corrections panel, I see that although it is checked for each file, the actual make, model and profile are not populated.Â

Is this a bug or am I overlooking something on import? I understand that in LR 4, you can apply specific lens and camera calibration profiles to camera serial numbers (noise reduction etc too).

AutoCAD 2010 :: Unwanted Blocks And Linetypes
Dec 27, 2013I have a drawing that have blocks in them I cant find inserted. Â I cant purge them or the linetypes they have. How do I strip them out if I cant find them to explode them?

So what i want to do is create a series of standard drawings with various custom linetypes
So using design centre i can drag and drop linetypes into a standard drawing but what i really want to do is export these custom linetypes into a .lin file
is it possible to do this ?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Custom Linetypes With Shapes
Feb 25, 2013I created a custom shape for a custom linetype. I had no problems making it and the linetypes worked perfectly in the drawing I created it in. However, when I tried to load the linetype into another drawing it said there was a bad definition in the line with the link to the shape file. When I tried to import the shape file into the drawing to look at it, it said that the shapefile has an invalid FIle Code number (707865649). Considering that I created it not ten minutes before I do not understand what the problem is. The real problem is that I have made many linetypes and all the ones with shapes are having the same problem.

Mar 8, 2012I am a landscape architect, and am trying to use bushy linetypes to delineate blobs of mass plantings. I created my custom line types, and tweaked them to the point where they look the way i want, but whenever i have a curve the line type faces in not outside the closed polyline. all of my shapes are closed poly lines, and i need the linetype to face out other wise it looks weird. I am attaching a picture the strait line to the right is the way that it is supposed to look, but in the circle you can see how the points are all facing in to the middle of the circle? reversing the direction dose nothing, and using a or u in the place of r in the linetype shape code doesn't work either below is the line types code and image.

AutoCad 2D :: Huge Lineweight - But Polylines Not Working With Custom Linetypes
Feb 8, 2013My custom linetype (something like this ----W----W----W----W---- ) doesn't work as a huge polyline (6 units wide.) The line is wide enough but the letters are tiny dots.
If I try to set the lineweight by layer, the maximum is 2.11 mm, which is way too small for the 50" by 70" map I'm working on.
Is there a way to get a nice looking line that wide with letters ( ----W---- for water, -----S---- for sewer, etc.) or should I tell my boss that we have to use the standard lines?

May 28, 2011I have Autocad 2007 and already have created a few custom linetypes by creating a new .line file that i edited with notepad.
My question is can i create a custom linetype intuitively by drawing myself the linetype on my autocad screen and then entering it somehow in Autocad without having to bother with linetype code.

Mar 12, 2012I created some custom linetypes. When I copied them over to my drawing, the text in the linetypes came in extemely large. I really need to get this figured out as I am setting up a template for a new customer, and they want all these included.

My work station at work has autocad set up with alot of tool bars and windows open. Is there a way i can save that and import those same settings so i can have a exact copy of my works Autocad at home too?

Apr 24, 2013I have been working on a template (.DWT) for Civil3D 2012. I decided to continue my work recently with a newer vesion C3d 2013, and to my shock there seems to be no way at all to transfer my newer settings (I.E.: default layering, default data bands, newer CODECS, etc to the C3d 2012 version. This is about a week's worth of work that I will have to replicate manually to C3d 2012. I cannot believe that the 2 versions are this completely incompatable.

May 17, 2012I hate having to setup one pc to all the autocad setting that we need and then having to go do 27 more. I want to take my exact setup, menu, system variables, colors, file locations...everything and apply it to 27 more computers. We have tried using profiles but it only coppies over a few things and some are still missing. Is there are way to copy everything?

Dec 11, 2013I've been working a while with AutoCad now but this week I received a task which I am not sure is not even possible to do.
I've been exporting drawnings from an other program into AutoCad2013 and all the objects in my drawning appear as loose objects in AutoCad. Can AutoCad create automatically blocks from these loose objects ?
Example : I added a picture of a transformer in this message. This object (2 circles, triangle and star) becomes all loose objects and is NOT one symbol anymore. My question is, if it it is possible that Autocad can recognize these loose objects and create automatically blocks from them. There are a lot of transformers in my drawnings and If I have to do it myself it will be loads of work.
Another thing they asked to do is working with correct European Symbols. I should therefore change blocks in my drawnings into correct one's. I believe when the wrong symbol is already a block it's more easy to change them. I think I should just select all wrong blocks, edit them and then update them. But before this, I have to get blocks in my drawning ofcourse.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Moving Attributes Automatically
Oct 17, 2012I just have a quick question (hopefully) about an activity I want a Dynamic block to perform.
I have a simple electric switch block (a line with an S over it), that in some cases is enclosed by a simple rectangle. When the switch is enclosed, I'd like the attribute to move further, to keep the spacing the same.
Is there a way to make the attribute move automatically with the display of the rectangle, maybe through some combination of Linear Move parameters, Visibility parameters, and a formula?

The studio that contracts me is running LR4 and they don't seem to think that the develop settings I make in LR3.5 are transferring to LR4. Is this possible?
I'm thinking an easy work-around would be to export all the files as DNGs? This would automatically include all changes that I make wouldn't it?

May 29, 2012I want to find a Lisp routine for building rooms (bedroom, bath, kitchen etc). example: I want to build a bedroom and every bedroom has the following blocks: smoke detector, door, window, bed, night stand, closet.   Is there a way to run a lisp routine that would just ask me for basepoints and rotation angles of all those blocks? Basically it would automate building a bedroom by inserting all the blocks for me and just prompting me for basepoints + rotation angles.Â
Would a macro be better suited for this? I want to do one for every room - kitchen, bath, bedroom, living, dinning etc. I already have a nice collection of blocks.Â

Jul 17, 2011I have a dyn block of a door (a 1:1 door designed to be laser cut from sheetmetal and folded, hence the strange shape), I want the number of hinge holes (3) to change to (2) when stretching below a certain length and vice versa. I have a visibility state that allows me to change the number/size of hinges/handles through the drop down, but I want to be able to eg. Stretch the door past a certain point (1000mm) and any distance after that will have a third hinge inserted automatically, and reduce back down to (2) when stretched below 1000mm.
I already have it set to stay centered, but trying to make it insert/remove over a set distance is difficult!

3ds Max :: How To Transfer Custom UI Including Scripts
Mar 16, 2012it's always a tedious task to transfer my cutom UI to another computer when custom scripts are used. Here's how I do ist now:
- Save the custom UI
- Save the c:Users...AppDataLocalAutodesk3dsMaxDesign2012 - 64bitenuUI folder
- Manually collect the scripts, which are not automatically copied to the above folder from c:Program FilesAutodesk3ds Max Design 2012Scripts and
c:Program FilesAutodesk3ds Max Design 2012UI
- Manually collect the corresponding icons
Save all that stuff in the same directories on the other computer
- Load the cutom UI
All other methods I tried end up with missing scripts or icons.
Is there an easier and reliable way to do this? Right now this mainly kepps me from upgrading to new versions of Max...
Lightroom :: 4.4 - Transfer Photo Develop Settings From One Catalog To Another
May 14, 2013I have several Lightroom catalogs from over the years, many of the from older versions and many of the catalogs contain develop settings from photos I have on my current catalog.

The thing is I have some picture folders with rates, develop setings and more things from an old catalog that I want to transfer to my new catalog from Lightroom 4.4. I want to transfer just the settings and rates, nothing else, i already have the photos, sometimes with many photos rated and developed.

Is there a way to transfer just the settings and rates of a certain set of photos from one catalog to another one?

Oct 28, 2013I recently purchased a new desktop computer and wanted to migrate my custom settings from my older laptop using the export utility. Â I successfully exported the zip file but when importing to the new computer, I get this message: "This file is not an AutoCad LT2012 - English Migration Package".
I have repeated the export to several different media (flash drive, cloud folders) with the same result when attempting to import the file.
