I have Autocad 2007 and already have created a few custom linetypes by creating a new .line file that i edited with notepad.
My question is can i create a custom linetype intuitively by drawing myself the linetype on my autocad screen and then entering it somehow in Autocad without having to bother with linetype code.
I created a custom shape for a custom linetype. I had no problems making it and the linetypes worked perfectly in the drawing I created it in. However, when I tried to load the linetype into another drawing it said there was a bad definition in the line with the link to the shape file. When I tried to import the shape file into the drawing to look at it, it said that the shapefile has an invalid FIle Code number (707865649). Considering that I created it not ten minutes before I do not understand what the problem is. The real problem is that I have made many linetypes and all the ones with shapes are having the same problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I send a file to Ps from Lr, edit that file then save it, Lr puts that file at the end of the line instead of next to the file I was working on. When you have 600 photos in a down loud, it is a pain to scroll through the photo's to find your place again.
Is there a setting to force the saved file back in line next to the file that was edited in Ps?

I am a landscape architect, and am trying to use bushy linetypes to delineate blobs of mass plantings. I created my custom line types, and tweaked them to the point where they look the way i want, but whenever i have a curve the line type faces in not outside the closed polyline. all of my shapes are closed poly lines, and i need the linetype to face out other wise it looks weird. I am attaching a picture the strait line to the right is the way that it is supposed to look, but in the circle you can see how the points are all facing in to the middle of the circle? reversing the direction dose nothing, and using a or u in the place of r in the linetype shape code doesn't work either below is the line types code and image.

I am trying to create graphical linetypes. But after many hours of Google & YouTube I have found out that AutoCAD LT can not produce these. Even the add on software that is available is only for full AutoCAD and not LT.
where I could buy/download such line types, I would be grateful, or if you know how I could create them in LT.
I will attach an image of the type of thing I'm looking for. Various "Block" types & sizes making up the line. The colors I can change "I assume?"
I am upgrading to 2012 from 2008. Will all of my custom settings/ linetypes/ blocks, etc. automatically transfer over?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy custom linetype (something like this ----W----W----W----W---- ) doesn't work as a huge polyline (6 units wide.) The line is wide enough but the letters are tiny dots.
If I try to set the lineweight by layer, the maximum is 2.11 mm, which is way too small for the 50" by 70" map I'm working on.
Is there a way to get a nice looking line that wide with letters ( ----W---- for water, -----S---- for sewer, etc.) or should I tell my boss that we have to use the standard lines?
How can I extract all layers in an open drawing to a notepad or txt file?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI created some custom linetypes. When I copied them over to my drawing, the text in the linetypes came in extemely large. I really need to get this figured out as I am setting up a template for a new customer, and they want all these included.

I would like to create a halftone image using a custom shape in the "Halftone Screen" dialog box. i.e. using a custom shape I created instead of the standard "round" "diamond" etc. Basically what I want to know is - if it is possible - how does one create a custom .AHS file containing a custom shape you created so as to create a halftone image.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIf I start autocad and draw a line then change its linetype from continuous to Fenceline2 it shows up like it's supposed to, a line with small squares in it. I can also change it's linetype to Fenceline1 and the linetype shows up just fine with the line and small circles in it.
But when I call up some existing autocad drawings that have lines with the Fenceline1 or Fenceline2 linetypes assigned to them, the small boxes or circles are missing from the linetypes. When you type linetype at the command prompt the linetypes are listed in the dialog box, but for some reason they are not showing up right in the existing drawing. When I type linetype, and hit the load button, and browse to my acad.lin file and select it, I get an error message of Bad Definition for linetype Fenceline1 and another for Fenceline2 and another for Batting etc.
So why are these Complex linetypes not working in the Existing drawing but work fine in the just call up autocad empty drawing, and how do I fix them to work in the existing drawing?
Requirement is to display pipes in profile with the same linetype ON TOP as shown in plan view, but bottom line of pipe must be continuous linetype.

I still do not see a way to control top and bottom pipe linetypes independently - using 2011.
Is it possible to create a custom stroke that doesn't scale to the length of the line you assign it to? I am trying to create a stroke that looks like a chain but when I create a custom brush, I have to almost create the brush pattern the same length as the stoke it gets applied to in order to avoid the chain links bunching up or being grossly stretched out along the assigned path.
Is there a setting or some other function that can accomplish this? Is there an easy way to assign a shape to along a path other than blend?
In the end I want to be able to assign a premade pattern to a line without that pattern being distorted or scaled along the path it is assigned to.
I need to create a complex linetype for a fence. The line needs to consist of the following:
------X------X------X----- The linetype needs to be dynamic to any length.
I am really new to AutoCAD and we are currently using AutoCAD 2007. I have managed to create a complex linetype with text. I have a DWG of the plan I need to lay utility cables on to. When I put a line with text into the model space, the text is really small so looks like a really small, continous line unless I zoom in until I can zoom in no more; I changed the scale so that the definition of the line and text was more visible (by changing linetype scale and lineweight) but when I go into the layout pages, the line just looks like a continuous thick line when I put the LWT on. If I return to model space and reduce scale and weight, it still looks like a continuous, thick line. The page size is A1..

But I only got 1 line. The second line is missing. When I use command to create them, everything is fine. Also if I change to

Two lines show up.

There is a DWG that we need to work on for a client and we will later need to create some new drawings but using the client's linetypes and it would work if we had a *.LIN file.
I could make a copy of the drawing that already has the linetypes in it, delete everything, purge everything except the linetypes and save it and insert the "empty" block/drawing into a new drawing. It works .

I'll be creating the video using stills with transitions in between.
Now I haven't tried this yet but...
I know how to change the project properties to custom frame sizes which is fine but what should I aim to be creating? I was thinking of an MP4 (H264) file but just wondering if you have other thoughts on what I should create as a video file before converting to .swf
The stills will be j-pegs. No audio will be involved

I'm trying to create a script from an Excel file with a sequence of line commands. However, it seems I have to add a blank line in between each one to end the input. Is there something I can add at the end to avoid having to insert blank lines?
Also have the same problem with the -layer set command.
I forgot the command to update lineweights in my sheet files after making changes in my base files e.g.( change layer color in base file, and sheet file does not update unless I detach and then re-attach).
And I recall a setting to automatically allow base file updates??
I created some new custom line types using express tool featute in autocad and I saved it with a .lin extension. It is only available in that drawing itself. How I canget those line type in all my new drawings.
I tired to edit the default linetype file even it doesnot appear in the linetype manger windo.

It leaves a continuous line at the beginning and end of the line. Is there a way to get rid of that?
