I was editing a file in illustrator that a past designer set up and he set it up so that there are multiple lines in a column of text that are linked some how so that the first line of text can be edited and the rest will change with it.

View 32 Replies View RelatedI am studying for an MSc in Geology and am doing seismic mapping. To tidy up my maps I exported them to ArcGIS so I could join various ones together and also contour the maps. Then I exported the GIS maps into illustrator so I could attempt to smooth some of the contours as they are extremely jaggedy due to the nature of the data.Is there a way to quickly smooth lines or mass delete points that make up the lines?I am asking because I have 30+ maps and each map has maybe 50lines with each line being made up of currently about 1000 points each...
If I can't find a solution I will probably end up drawing over the contours with the pen tool and just smoothing it that way, as it should be a lot faster then deleting so many points.
I am currently using Illustrator CS5 and have access to CS4.
I want to apply a gradient to multiple lines of text so that the gradient flows throughout all of the text and not just line by line.

I have about 500 files that I need to change one line of text in. Example. File name is XXX 001, the line of text is the file name so it would read XXX 001. XXX 002... etc. up to XXX 500. Is there a way that I could automate it opening, changing this line of text, saving and closing?

I.e. you have ten horizontal lines 3m long and one vertical line running down the center of the 3m lines. I need to break the horizontal lines in two where they touch the vertical line without having a line smaller then 1.5m.
On a single line I can do it using the F command and clicking twice on the intersection but is it possible to select multiple lines ant the same time and use the crossing line to cut along?

In the block editor, the "Multiple lines" in the properties palette is gray out. I have create single line attribute and replace the multiple line attributes one by one.
Why don't make the Multiple lines property editable? This problem is since Multiple line attribute first time introduced.
Interesting thing is single line attributes can easily changed to multiple line attributes through the properties palette!
How do I create multiple lines of text in a single layer. Everytime I finish with a line and want to go to the next, I hit 'Enter', but that completes the text. If I click on the layer image again, then it creates another layer.
So basically if I have 10 lines of text, I end up with 10 layers of text as well. Needless to say, this becomes to much trouble if I have to center each line of text and add blending options to 10 layers instead of one.
way to get multiple lines of text in an iProperty? I am using a custom iProperty named "Title" so users can insert the drawing title into the title block using the custom iProperty. The only problem is that the title comes out all on one line and goes outside the title block. Should I be using iproperties or is there a better way?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to apply multiple gradients to a leaf, or to any other object for that matter. Along the protruding edges I would like to apply a short gradient that points inward. I would like to repeat this gradient to every protruded edge, but each gradient would have to be manipulated independently. I have tried to do this using the Appearance Panel, by duplicating the fill. This works just fine but because the gradients are on different layers I can only see one gradient at a time, no way to see them all together.
The pic below is just an example, the colors/design are irrelevent.
When I try to move the gradient itself it seems to always jump back to where I picked it up, I can't place it exactly where I would like. As well, how can I control the wide of the gradient? As you can see in the pic, the protruding edges are quite narrow so the gradient should cover just that portion of the leaf.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a large document with the same background but different pics and text on the multiple pages. I want to create a background that is not a bitmap but is still vector and that I can edit, that will automatically come up with each new page. And the kicker is that if I change one thing to the background, it will auto populate the change to the rest of the document.
The background consists of a title, a company logo, some solid fill text and pic areas. So for instance if I wanted to change the background color from green to blue I don't want to have to go to each page and change it individually.
Can I select multiple non-sequential text lines in paragraph text and apply one and the same text format (font - bullets - tabs - alinea space etc)?

For instance, I have a playing card that I've tiled across the page 6 times ( so that I can create 6 cards out of 1 page ). Each card needs it's own bleed/trim marks.
I'd also like to have printer registration marks for the page, as I have to print the card backings on another page and then glue the two pages together.
The only way I've found that I can do this is to manually create the trim marks for each object's bleed and just have them all within 1 artboard.
I tried doing it with multiple artboards within one larger artboard, but couldn't get that to work.
Is this something that just needs to be manually done?
Is it possible within Inventor to create multiple line text for an iProperty?
I have seen an iProperties editor add-on that includes the feature, but it seems there should be a way to do it within Inventor.
What i'm trying to do is cut multiple circles in half (45° angle), i know that i need first "outline stroke" to make the circle lines into object (i think it's called). I have used "offset path" to get more of these lines.
I was told that if i want to cut the other half of the circle i need to use pathfinder, but everytime i use the "minus front" option, it leaves me with only on half circle while i mad 2 circles, the second circle disapppeard. How can i cut both circles in one go. (is there a way to combine these circles (not grouping))
Before, when I created lines or shapes in illustrator a small window would show the size of whatever I was creating. Now it does not show up and what the size is of the shape or line.

But buttons don't work, wybranyKolor returning 'undefined'. If I change "wybranyKolor = myButton[k].label" to "wybranyKolor = myButton[k-1].label" I get proper answer but it is the same for all buttons so it looks that all buttons have the same action assigned. How to get each button to has unique name which can be passed to variable?
Probably I can achieve the same with radio buttons' list but with buttons it is one click less for the user.
I'm trying to make a curve that follows a path that changes direction. I've tried to carry the zigzag effect accross line using the compound path option, but the curve double in on themselves and don't make a continuous line.
