Mar 27, 2012I want to change the default precision shown in my drawing from two decimal places to three. In my .idw file the "Units" tab does not seem to be there. I see Standard, Sketch, Drawing, Sheet. I could change each dimension one by one, but there's got to be an easier way.

I work with a land surveying package. I use both AutoCAD 2006 and R14. When I export a cad dwg from the survey software and open it in R14 my drawing units are as I want them E.G Direction Control = North = 270 and should be set to clockwise. If I open the same exported drawing but in 2006 the settings change. If I create a new drawing in 2006, the settings are as I want them.

Feb 5, 2014PC, Windows 7, AI CC..I have a document that displays units in points, and when I change the unit type to inches in the preferences panel and the Document Setup panel, the change won't apply.
I've tried saving as a new document, restarting, etc. I even tried setting the units to other units... doesn't matter what I have the units set to in preferences, it's always displaying points.

Oct 16, 2013Everythime when starting a new project I first go to 'Options' > 'Units' > 'Page units' and set it from 'Inch' to 'Pixels' is there a way to set this as default ?
Note: I'm currently using the old free version Xtreme 5 Silver because lost the paid version after a system format and register code that didn't work anymore, perhaps of newer version there an easy setting for that, on this one I haven't found it yet.
Illustrator :: Units Settings Don't Seem To Affect Artboard (CS6)
May 7, 2013I am trying to resize the artboard so it will be an exact size in pixels. However whenever I use the artboard tool, the contextual toolbar will show me the size in mm. I went to Preference > Units > General and while it appears to be set to show pixels, it doesn't seem to affect the artboard measurements.

There are other default settings I'd like to change as well, but my question is how do I change those settings to default so that when I open Xara, I don't have to go reset them? This is a PITA! Sep 30, 2012I am occasionally developing with ObjectARX 2013. The problem: A command being executed from a document needs to focus on another document. I am doing that as:
Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument = aGeneratedDrawing;
After this line, the focus is taken by the other document. But the command execution just stops without producing any visible error or catchable exception. Apparently, the document focus cannot be changed during execution of a command.
A solution: What worked in the end was displaying a .NET form inside the command, like:
Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.ShowModelessDialog(aForm);
Then, performing the very same set of actions on a button click works flawlessly.
The question is: can using the form as a mediator be avoided? It is redundant there. I tried hooking to CommandEnded, executing the code as a separate command via Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.SendStringToExecute, and also executing the code in a separate delayed thread. So far, only triggering the code via the form worked.

The default of the “Isolate” command is “Lock and fade” For me I prefer to switch the this setting to be “Off”The default value of the command “FIELDEVAL” is 13. For me I prefer to switch the this setting to be “Off”The default setting of the “default mode” is “shortcut menu”. For me I prefer to switch this setting to be “repeat last command” ( I go to options>>user preferences”>>Windows standard behavior>>Right click customization>> default mode>>repeat last command. Is there a way to save these settings on the file such that if we open this file in another computer then we don't need to set them again?
In other words, why aren't the “Default settings” “Option settings” saved on the file the same way the “Drafting Settings: like sanps, Osanps” are?
Illustrator :: Settings When Opening A Document?
Oct 28, 2012When I open a document that I've worked on previously, Illustrator seems to re-set its tools - presumably to default settings. For example the pen tool fill is white, the stroke is black, the point is......etc.
It's frustrating to have to change these back to the settings that I am currently using for this document.
This also seems to apply to the windows down the right hand side that seem to open in default as opposed to how I last left them when I saved and closed Illustrator.
I'd sort of assumed that Illustrator would 'remember' my previous settings etc and open in that way. Is there a way of opening with the same, previous settings?
